Does the use of technology make new world records less impressive than those of the past?

The Winter Games - Standpoint image 3

This standpoint is about the Winter Olympics and the technology. I think they should only be allowed to use technology for things like VAR ( virtual AI referee ). Some technology can make the Olympics and World Cups. Curling for example introduced electronic handles on the stones. They have sensors and a magnetic strip in the ice to automatically detect if a throw was legal or not. When a player lets go too late, the handle flashes red and when the throw is correct, it lights up green. Some players have said that the new technology makes the game fairer because everyone is judged the same way.

I think it is fair because it helps check penalties, red cards and goals it can also help referees make far but it can also make the game slower but I think fairness is more important. Photo Finish in the Winter Olympics can help see who won a race by tiny fractions of a second and cameras can decide exactly who crossed the finish line first. Without technology, judges would guess and if the team that the judges support and they might side for them.

Some people might disagree because richer teams can provide their teams with the latest technology and poorer teams will have a disadvantage. Technology can also make the sports unfair because some countries can’t buy the best equipment so that is a disadvantage.

In conclusion, technology can make sports fairer if it is being used for finding penalties, red cards and goals as well as checking if the ball fully crossed the line. They can also use technology in photo finish and cameras to see who won by tiny fractions of a second. However, it can also make it unfair because only some teams can buy the best equipment.
