About this lesson

Use this one-hour lesson to help your students:

  • Discuss what makes a news story important
  • Review a range of stories to create a short news report
  • Present their news report to the class

This lesson develops the following skills and knowledge:

  • Listening

    Step 1: I listen to others and can remember short instructions
    Step 3: I listen to others and can tell someone else what it was about
    Step 11: I listen critically and compare different perspectives

  • Knowledge

    I know four of the most important news stories of 2024 and can explain what they are about.
