About this lesson

Fifteen-minute cities are designed so that most daily needs – shops, schools and parks – are within a short walk or cycle ride.

The idea promises more liveable and sustainable cities. But it also raises concerns about freedom, accessibility and fairness. Could this model make life better for everyone, or would it restrict choice?

Use this lesson to help students:

  • Learn what a 15-minute city is
  • Explore the design requirements for city planning
  • Discuss whether all cities should be 15-minute cities
