About this lesson

The Economist Intelligence Unit has released its annual Global Liveability Index. The index scores cities worldwide on how easy and safe it is to live there.

But what makes a city truly liveable? Cost, safety, culture, climate - or something else entirely?

Use this lesson to help students:

  • Understand how liveability is measured - and why it matters
  • Debate what factors should count in the rankings
  • Apply the news to create their own liveability score
