Women and girls in Afghanistan

The Taliban has published new “vice and virtue” laws which prohibit women in Afghanistan from speaking or showing their faces outside their homes. “Today in Kabul a female cat has more freedom than a woman. A cat may go sit on her front stoop and feel the sun on her face […] A bird may sing in Kabul, but a girl may not in public.” – American actress and activist, Meryl Streep at the U.N. General Assembly on September 23rd 2024.
