Topical Talk Festival 2025 Prize Draw
1. Introduction
These competition terms and conditions (“Terms”) set out the terms for the Competition detailed below held by The Economist Education Foundation, a company registered under the laws of England and Wales with registered address at The Adelphi, 1-11 John Adam Street, London, England, WC2N 6HT (“Promoter”).
2. The competition
2.1 The title of the competition is “Topical Talk Festival 2025 Prize Draw” (“Competition”). The Competition will run from 11 March 2024 to 5 April 2024, both dates inclusive or until the Promoter provides a public notice that the Competition has ended, whichever is earlier (“Competition Period”). Entries will only be accepted during the Competition Period.
2.2 The Competition is open to all government funded schools who have a class that has participated in the ‘Topical Talk Festival 2024’ run from 22 January 2024 to 28 March 2024 (“Entrant”). In entering the Competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the Competition.
2.3 Each school who enters into the Competition agrees to be bound by these Terms.
3. How to enter and winner selection
3.1 To enter the Competition an Entrant must (a) be a government funded school that has a registered and valid Topical Talk account with the Promoter (account created by a teacher of the school) (b) have a class that participated in the Topical Talk Festival during the period 22 January 2024 and 28 March 2024 provided by the Promoter (c) have the teacher who participated in the Topical Talk Festival 2024 complete the Topical Talk Festival 2024 teacher feedback survey in full sent to the teacher by the Promoter on Typeform (d) have the teacher submit the completed survey to the Promoter via Typeform within any timeframes specified by the Promoter.
3.2 Entrants may only enter the Competition once.
3.3 Entry is only valid through this medium and manner.
3.4 Valid competition entries will be entered into a random prize draw which shall take place on or about 5 days after the Competition Period.
4. The prize
4.1 The prize is a funded place for one class of the winning school in the Topical Talk Festival 2025, the value of which is approximately £299.
4.2 There is no cash alternative for the Prize. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize of equal or greater value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.
4.3 The Prize is not negotiable or transferable.
5. Winners
5.1 The decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
5.2 The Promoter will notify the winning school linked to the Topical Talk account on or about 15 April 2024 (“Announcement Date”).
5.3 An Entrant may be asked to provide a copy of his/her legal and valid registration in order to be eligible to receive the Prize. The Promoter reserves the right to conduct the validation and verification process. By participating in the Competition, all Entrants consent to the appropriate validation and verification measures that the Promoter may implement from time to time.
6. Claiming the prize
6.1 If you are the winner of a Prize, you will have 30 of days from the Announcement Date to notify the Promoter you wish to claim the Prize. If you do not notify the Prize by this date, your claim will become invalid. The Prize will only be redeemable in the Topical Talk Festival 2025, dates of which to be determined by the Promoter. Participation and enjoyment of the Prize shall be subject to the Promoters terms and conditions of the Topical Talk Festival 2025 (as amended from time to time).
6.2 The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not notified the Promoter within 30 of days of the Announcement Date, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the Prize to the next eligible Entrant using the same winner selection process.
6.3 The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the Prize.
6.4 In order to claim the Prize you must provide any necessary detail to the Promoter and/or its agent for its delivery. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of a Prize.
7. General
7.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate an Entrant or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize or participation in the Competition except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees.
7.2 The timelines stated by the Promoter or its agent must be adhered to. Failing adherence to any timeline, at any stage, may result in disqualification and forfeiture of a Prize in its entirety with no compensation to any party by the Promoter.
7.3 By submitting your Competition entry and any accompanying material including the Project, you agree to:
in and to your Competition entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.
7.4 Each school is responsible for obtaining the consent of each teacher to the processing of the Personal Data of the teacher and by doing so, agrees to:
7.5 With the exception of Competition rule 7.4 above, the Promoter will not share any personal information with any third party except where such disclosure is necessary to enable the Promoter to provide, deliver or in any other way give effect to these Terms and/or a Prize, where such disclosure is permitted by law and/or where consent to sharing personal information is obtained from the relevant Entrant by the Promoter. The Promoter will comply with Data Protection Legislation.
7.6 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the Competition.
7.7 Each Entrant indemnifies and holds harmless the Promoter, its associated companies, and the directors, officers, employees and agents of the Promoter and its associated companies, against any and all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever connected to or arising out of his/her participation in any way in this Competition or his/her receipt, participation, ownership and/or use of a Prize.
7.8 The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
7.9 These Terms may be amended by the Promoter on public notice at any time during the Competition Period or thereafter. These Terms will be interpreted by the Promoter only.
7.10 All entries must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
7.11 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If any entrants to this promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in the England and Wales.
