Festival 2026 live lesson

How is technology changing sport? Which tech improves the game and which changes the experience?

This live lesson joined together hundreds of students from around the world online to explore how technology transforms sport.

This special event launched the 2026 Topical Talk Festival and introduced the topic for the first week. In the run-up to the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, students questioned how innovation reshapes performance, entertainment and the spirit of competition.

During the one-hour session, students:

• Took part in lively, interactive activities on technology and sport
• Heard from an inspiring guest speaker
• Joined global polls and live discussions with schools around the world

The live lesson was be repeated twice online at 10am and 2pm (UTC) to welcome schools across different time zones.

Students joined a global debate and explored the what ways technology is helps and hinders the future of sport.
