Written standpoint on Syria

The issue of Syria's current state is undeniably an affair of the utmost importance among all the developments around the world. One of its most interesting aspects is that of Syria's new leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, one very controversial figure and one that the western countries involved are very wary of. Indeed, their worry is partly justifiable. He has actually been verified to have founded the HTS, an extremist and terroristic Sunni Islamist organisation, whose name has been related to numerous homicides and repeated violation of human rights. To make matters more concerning, according to most European and American state leaders- and the citizens, as well, as they are affected by the media, he recently decided to postpone the promised elections, under the excuse that the Syrian populationis in no state of selecting a leader. For the more conservative side, affected by the stereotypical image of of the Islamist terrorist, greatly promosted by the American government, and the media, it was inferred from this ecision that Ahmed Al-Sharaa had the intention of a dictatorship, and, in fact, the USA government has clearly presented their enmity: they recently announced that whoever arrested Ahmed Al-Sharaa and handed him over to the authorities would be granted with a reward of 10m$. Hoever, should we really condemn this politician as yet? I would say not. Whether it is just a facade, he has presented himself as a diplomat with pacifistic intentiosn and has even done away with the traditional Islamist uniform, which so soften causes dread to the west, who have linked this appearance with iddle-East terrorism. Moreover, despite the postponement, he has indeed promised elections, and his recent decision of delaying them may not hide the vicious plan of a dictatorship behind it. As far as I'm concerned, we ought to at least give him the benefit of the doubt. Nonetheless, we shuld also remain on the outlook, taking into consideration his past actions and crimes.
