Written standpoint on Syria

The Syrian war has had a very significant impact on Egypt, as it has affected its economy, society, and politics. As an Arab neighboring country, Egypt has felt the consequences of this long and devastating war. Although some argue that Egypt handled the crisis successfully, delivering aid where required, others have claimed that the war has brought more problems than benefits to Egypt.

One of the biggest effects has been the refugee crisis. Thousands of Syrians have flooded into Egypt, seeking refuge and a new home. Some Egyptians believe that taking in refugees is the right thing to do, as they bring skills, businesses, and culture to the country. Others claim it puts a strain on Egypt's economy, causing competition for jobs and resources. Should Egypt continue to support refugees, or should it take care of its own first?

It has been economically disrupting. Egypt-Syria business has been hit, especially in areas like the textile and agriculture industries. It is argued by some business leaders that Egypt has to seek other markets to replace Syria, whereas others believe it is more appropriate for both to have greater collaboration in the future. The war has also seen higher food and fuel prices, which have exacerbated the lives of Egyptians as a whole.

Politically, Egypt has tried to remain balanced and has promoted the peaceful resolution of the Syrian conflict. There are those who believe that this neutrality is smart since it prevents Egypt from being dragged into the conflict. Others believe that Egypt should be more forceful in its promotion to help bring an end to the war.

The Syrian conflict has placed Egypt in a position where it is facing challenges as much as opportunities. While some perceive this as testing Egypt's capability and leadership, others are apprehensive that the outcome of the war will also burden Egypt even more.

The real question is: How does Egypt assist Syria while protecting its interests? What do you think?
