Does giving international aid sometimes cause more harm than good?
Today I ask you to consider, does giving international aid sometimes cause more harm than good? International aid is when a country helps another country (by giving food, water, medicine, money etc) In this text, I will explain my thoughts on this interesting and complex topic as well as some facts I have researched and learnt along the way for my Standpoint.
The most compelling reason is that, giving aid can help build schools and homes. It can also help with healthcare and defence. For example, during the 2010 Haiti earthquake aid bought clean water, food and medical care to the millions of people that were affected. Aid also helped rebuild many towns and cities after World War II. In addition, aid can help build the global economy and give billions of people jobs and accommodation.
However , other people do not see eye-to-eye as they think that giving aid can spark war or conflict .I can understand why they my think that has this occasionally happens for example: Tamil- Sinhalese Conflict 1970-1980. In conclusion, I believe that giving international aid causes more good than harm but only when used safely and responsibly and I hope you agree also.
