If all ages are influenced by misinformation, should there be any age limits on voting?
In my view, setting a minimum voting age helps improve our country because nowadays teenagers are easily influenced by social media, and sometimes what people say on social media isn’t true. However, as people grow older, they become more mature and take more responsibility for their decisions. Teenagers are often influenced by misinformation because social media spreads a lot of fake news, and the worst thing is that many teenagers believe it. However, some adults also fall for fake news because technology is very advanced nowadays and can create things that people easily believe.
Teenagers are more vulnerable to misinformation because social media spreads news very quickly, and not all of it is true or verified. Sometimes fake images or edited videos can make people believe something that is not real. When young people see this information many times, they start to believe that news and share it with their friends. Sometimes people edit images. For example, recently, when Iran started a war, someone edited an image saying that Iran would attack Spain if necessary. This was fake news, but many people believed it.
Other people might think there shouldn’t be a minimum voting age for several reasons. Although some people are not interested in politics, there are others who are very interested and know how to make the correct decisions for their country.
In conclusion, there should be a minimum voting age because teenagers are often influenced by misinformation. Therefore, it is better to set an age limit, since as people grow older they become more responsible for their decisions.
