Today misinformation travels very fast, because of social media and the internet. People from all ages can seee false information about politics, elections and other public topics. I think that there should be age limits for voting, principally for security.
First, age limits helps make sure that voters have a certain level of maturity. Voting is importan because it can affect the future of a country. Younger people it is learning about the world, politics, economy, and how goverments work. Many teenagers are smart and interested in politics, but they maybe don´t understand all the consequences of their decisions.
Second, having an age limit makes election easier to organize. If there was no age limi, the goverment have to check if everyone is informed enough to vote. That would be very hard and maybe unfair .
Also, misinformation isn´t just a problem for young people. Adults can believe fake news too, and some studies say that older people sometimes share more fake news on social media than younger people. So the problem is not just about age, also about education and thinking.
Someone who disagrees might think that if misinformation affects everyone, the age limits for voting are no fair. They believe young people should have the right to vote because because many teenagers are interested in politics and follow the news.
The National Electoral Board reported that is has identified more than 700 misinformation alerts. These alerts primarily concerns content on social media and digital platforms, it gives fake news about politics and candidates.
In conclusion, misinformation affects everyone, but age limits for voting are still necessary to keep the democratic system simple, fair and organized.
