Should voting rights match a person’s legal responsibilities?

Is it a good think to lower the voting age? I think lowering the voting age from 18 to 16 could be positive change for the UK.
The first reason why I think changing the voting age is good is because it could give 16-year-olds a headstart in understanding politics and therefore possibly bring benefits to the knowledge of the country. Secondly, it would teach young people to speak up for themselves and fight for their opinions – giving them more creativity and ideas which is what the government wants for children to learn.
But, the BBC explains that 16-year-old brains might not be developed enough for intense voting and many of them can be misinformed, so they pick a negative option without knowing. If we teach children though, we can overcome this, so I think it should be lowered so that we can shape our own future from an earlier age.
