Should voting rights match a person’s legal responsibilities?

Should voting match a person’s responsibilities?
No, I don’t think so. A person’s responsibilities should not always decide whether they can vote.
If 16- and 17-year-olds were allowed to vote, it could add around 1.5 million voters. Wales and Scotland already allow people to vote at 16 in some elections.
People of any age can be influenced by what they see or hear. Sometimes people believe things that are not true, especially when they see information online or on social media.
Because of this, it is important to check facts carefully, since not everything on the internet is reliable. People might see or hear something that sounds true but is actually misleading.
This means people should not always believe information straight away. Instead, they should look at reliable sources and think carefully before making decisions.
Voting used to have an age limit of 21, but now it is 18. Some people believe the voting age should be lowered to 16.
Even if someone makes the wrong decision when voting, it is still their choice. That is part of democracy, where everyone has the right to share their opinion.
