Lowering the voting age - Standpoint image

In think giving 16 year olds the right to vote would improve democracy, rather then simply changing the way political campaigns are run.

Firstly, more younger people would finally have the chance to represent their own opinions in political decisions. Many decisions that are made in politics, will shape the future directly. Since younger people will have to live with the long term consequences of these decisions, they should also have a say in them.

By allowing 16- year olds to vote, younger people could increase their interest in politics. If they know that their vote matters, they may become more informed about political issues or more engaged in political decisions and debates.

Some people argue that young voters are easily influenced and that this would only change how campaigns target younger audiences. However, adults can also be influenced by media and political campaigns. Therefore, this should not be a reason to exclude younger people from voting.”

In conclusion, giving 16-year-olds the right to vote would make democracy more representative and encourage political participation among younger generations.
