Do international alliances always make the world safer, or can they sometimes lead to more tension?

Alliances are unions or associations, in this context of countries, formed for mutual benefit in search of security, goods and political strength. They are strategic agreements that cannot be easily broken and require the following of some statutes from each country in the alliance. Statutes vary from alliance to alliance, but in general, they all agree in some commandments like protecting allies in case of attack or in some alliances, reducing tariffs and trade costs. Our world is plenty of alliances (NATO, CSTO, Quad...) but is that making the world safer or creating more tensions?
On one hand, alliances make our world safer, but in an individual way. A country which is in an alliance recieve protection from his allies, creating a strong and powerful militar body of nations and becoming an unintelligent idea planning an attack to it. An example of this is NATO´s Article 5 which states that an armed attack against one member would be responded as an atack to every allied country. Also, in case of any type of crisis (enviromental disasters, political instability, terrorism, health emergencies, economic issues, etc), a country in an alliance may be helped either with economic aids or with direct support from the emergency services from the rest of the allied countries. An alliance as well cooperate and work together researching and creating new technology. Individually is an evidence that an alliance can have a lot of benefits, but what if we have a look to the "outer" world?
On the other hand, alliances generate potential tensions between exterior countries. The rest of the countries can be threatened by the power of an alliance searching either increasing their military strenght or joining another alliance. In case of a war, the presence of alliances create the posibility of leading to a major war like a world war. Present-day world is constantly undergoing threats of attacks, wars or speechs of militar power which make global economy instable as some of the affected countries are great producers of resources or are key to the transport of these.
As a conclusion, it´s evident that being in an alliance has a lot of benefits for the country, but at the end, it would be a "fake" feeling of security as major problems happening outside can be directly worsened by alliances entering in a cycle of tensions which can burst any time now.
