International alliances like the North Atlantic Treaty Organization can strengthen global security. When countries promise to defend each other, it discourages attacks and helps nations share intelligence, technology, and disaster support. Smaller countries especially benefit from this collective protection.
However, alliances can also create mistrust. Countries outside the alliance may feel threatened and start building their own military power. This can increase global tension and create rival groups.
Therefore, alliances should not rely only on military strength. They must also promote diplomacy, transparency, and cooperation to reduce conflicts and maintain long-term global stability.
