Do international alliances always make the world safer, or can they sometimes lead to more tension?

NATO - Standpoint image 5

I disagree that NATO is still important for our modern-day world. NATO was created during the Cold War to address problems and build new alliances, but nowadays it can create new problems instead of new alliances. One problem NATO has created is that when it says it is expanding for security reasons, other countries, such as Russia, can feel threatened. When NATO expanded closer to Russia's border, they felt threatened and felt the need to build a military force to fight back in case NATO turned on them. When this happens, it ends up dividing more countries instead of starting new alliances. When that load is military training and active combat operations. It creates issues like new greenhouse gases and emissions, and the prioritizing of the military over climate Action. In our modern day, these problems are turning way more complex and larger, and NATO is not ready for what is going to come. There is no use for NATO when there is no significant war going on. NATO is not what they say. It is not a peaceful friendship but a toxic one. When you join NATO, you get dragged into all the conflicts. When two countries that are not keen on each other are both enrolled in NATO, it gives them a free chance to stab each other in the back. When a smaller country joins NATO, it drags them into the big problems that they are not ready for. Instead of that country feeling safe and far from the large problems, it creates tension in their country and makes them deal with problems that they are not ready for.NATO has significantly helped our world for the better, but is no longer useful. Even though it was very helpful during the Cold War, our world has changed a lot, and there are a lot bigger problems that NATO is not ready for. From these reasons, I think that NATO should be removed or changed.
