Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

Technology is changing how we play and watch sports every day. While some fans love seeing high-tech replays, some people think new tools make games more equal for everyone. However, I believe that technology is actually widening the gap between competitors. While some gadgets help with the rules, the high cost of new equipment usually helps the richer teams to win, leaving the poor teams behind.

On the positive side, technology helps match officials make better decisions. In the past, a human umpire might have made a mistake, which could have changed the whole game. Today, we have many systems like Hawk-Eye in tennis or VAR in football. These tools use cameras to show exactly what happened., ensuring the rules are applied fairly. This makes the rule fair for everyone. Because of this, some people argue that technology creates a fair environment for everyone. While I agree that video helps the umpire find the truth, I do not think this is enough to make the whole sport fair.

The biggest problem is the cost of the technology. This is where the gap really widens. For example, some runners now use special shoes, which might help them run much faster than before. However, the shoes are very expensive. If the opponent can't afford the shoes, the race is no longer fair. Instead of a test of talent, the race becomes a contest of who has more money.

At the end of the day, technology makes the work of the umpire fairer, but it makes the actual competition much harder for people without money. If we want the sports to stay equal, we must make sure that everyone can use the same gear. If we do not, the winner will always be the person with more money.
