Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

I think Sports technology only widens the gap more between competitors
Sports technology is using data, tools and engineering to enhance an athlete's performance, this can be anything from wearing gps or smartwatches to track biometrics, improve techniques and even prevent injuries. The development of VAR, a recording that allows for a referee to review a play and assist them with the final decision, makes sports way more efficient, accurate and fun to watch.
I believe where sports technology becomes unfair is when the technology enhances the athletes performance beyond their national abilities and not all athletes are able to access it because of diffrent financial situations. This turns sports into a game of wealth and power rather than talent and perseverance and I think this takes away the purpose of sports, to push people to become the best version of themselves and do the unthinkable.
Although Sports governing bodies are very skilled in identifying and banning these advantages, this still does not prevent people from still trying and succeeding in knowingly using them to win. Competitors who are not able to afford extra training, smartwatches, personalised dieticians or any of these high tech advancements are put at a significant disadvantage, which I think is very unfair and makes the gap between competitors too big.
Sports Technology is often not seen by the supporters/viewers so their opinions about the technology is often misinformed, as with all sports the true work is done behind the scenes and in the athletes own time so the audience cannot fully understand the amount of influence technology truly has on results. This might lead viewers to not understand how certain athletes are getting a significant advantage or why they are performing significantly better.
Overall it is believed that the overuse of technology removes the human element from sport that makes it engaging for the fans and enjoyable for the athletes to participate in. This among other things just reinforces the idea that technology in sports often goes from something simple and fair to something complex that gives an athlete a clear advantage too quickly and without being noticed.
