Can technology make sports more equal, or does it only widen the gap between competitors?

“In sport, there’s very little incentive to play fair, and there are huge incentives to try to get an advantage,” says Fouché, a former elite-level cyclist.
There are thousands of athletes that have a real talent in their respective sports and they play with other people that have the best technology and they lose. It is important to recognize the athletes that are playing fair and the ones that are not.
In my opinion there are people of all kinds but the athletes that are working really hard for the Olympics are making a great effort and they deserve to be appreciated and not to be undervalued.
First of all, technology is not accessible for all people because it is very expensive and normally teams with no money can`t obtain them. The people that can afford it are teams or companies that promote them by giving money and the technology they need. For instance, you can see the difference in the Olympics or in football matches, they can wear shoes or special material that a brand gave them or something that only the richer athletes have money for.
Secondly, when you have a technology that others don't have, you are likely to show off that you have more money and underestimate their hard work. In the competitions you can see that they are breaking records with their revolutionary equipment. In 2008 at the Olympics some swimmers used new swimsuits and they rewritten records, but then they banned these swimsuits, so that means that it was unfair.
Another reason is that it is similar to cheating in a competition or in a game. There are a lot of people that try really hard to achieve a world record and others achieve them without making any effort. Sometimes the most important part of the competition is between engineers instead of athletes, that is the really important part and what they are making these games for.
Someone who disagrees with me might think that these innovations in equipment only make contributions and never damage the real game. I believe that this is not true because there is always someone that is cheating in the competition or doing something illegal.
All in all, the matchup is more funny and fair with people that are following the rules and trying to win by their own effort instead of cheating and doing illegal things.
