Does the use of technology make new world records less impressive than those in the past?

I believe the use of technology can make world records less impressive. While technology can help athletes perform better, it can also take away from the idea that records should show natural human ability.

One reason for this is that technology and A.I. systems cannot always make perfect decisions, while humans can rely on judgement and experience. This means technology may influence results rather than the athlete’s own skill.

Another issue is fairness. Some teams and athletes may not have enough money to afford expensive technology, while others do. Because of this, technology can sometimes create an unfair advantage in sport.

If more athletes rely heavily on technology, world records may become easier to achieve and therefore less impressive than those from the past. In that case, records might not truly reflect the athlete’s natural talent and hard work.

Some people argue that technology improves the quality of sport and helps athletes reach new levels of performance. However, throughout the history of sport, technology has constantly pushed the limits of what humans can achieve. This can make new records feel less surprising or shocking.

Experts have pointed out that innovations such as super shoes and pacing lights have already changed some sports and influenced record-breaking performances.

In conclusion, I believe that while technology can improve performance, it can also make world records feel less impressive because it changes how those achievements are reached.
