Teaching the News

An online teacher-training course

Build confidence in bringing the news into your classroom.

The Economist Educational Foundation has created a free online teacher-training course to support teachers to bring discussions about the news into their classrooms.

In partnership with Infosys. The Economist Educational Foundation maintained editorial control.

Each course video comes with an accompanying fully-resourced 60-90 minute lesson for you to try in your classroom!

The course is suitable for teachers of students aged 10+ with a B2 level English or higher.

You’ll learn:

  • Why it’s so important to support the children you teach to have meaningful discussions about the news
  • How to manage discussions about sensitive and complex topics in the classroom
  • Tips for developing the essential skills to build news literacy
  • A range of student-led discussion activities
