Our latest Headline lesson is part of the Leadership for Change Prize 2024. In this starter lesson, explore what it takes to lead change and hear from a diverse group of inspiring leaders on how they’re addressing issues in the news.

About this lesson

Use this one-hour lesson to help your students:

  • Consider the definitions of “leadership”, “entrepreneurial spirit” and “change-maker”
  • Discuss and debate statements about what it takes to lead change
  • Work in groups to report on the skills required to lead change

About the Leadership for Change Prize 2024

Leadership for Change is an educational programme from The Economist Educational Foundation, in partnership with Rolex. Through six one-hour lessons, students develop the tools and knowledge to lead change in their communities.

Students can enter their own "Projects for Change" into our global competition. Three projects will receive funding and mentorship to make them a reality.

Your school could win...

  • Up to £1,000 funding for the winning school to deliver the chosen "Project for Change"
  • Three mentorship video calls for students from an experienced leader between January and June 2025
