Sustainability is necessary!

Nowadays, the topic "Climate Change" and "Global Warming" have become the subjects of discussion in Mass Medias. The whole world is talking about it and Nepal has been very late in discussing this topic. The discovery of coal, mineral, oil and gas led to the second industrial revolution. Scientists were eager to find out what happens when substances like coal and oil are burnt and how does it affect the environment. The study had begun in the year 1859 AD.
Climate change refers to any significant change in the climate lasting for an extended period of time. In other words, climate change includes major changes in temperature, percipitation, wind patterns, etc that occur several decades or longer. The climate depends on human beings, animals, plants and geographical system. If there is an imbalance or instability in any of those factors then we can say that climate change is taking place.
The main reason for climatic change is the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This gas increases the green house effect and increases the temperature of the earth which creates an imbalance on the climate. Greenhouse gases act like a blanket around the earth, trapping energy in the atmosphere and causing it to warm. The buildup of greenhouse gases can change Earth's climate and result in dangerous effects to human health and welfare and to ecosystems.
It is our responsibility to maintain the balance. If we maintain discipline then we can prevent it from happening. In a few years time, the snow from our mountain tops will melt leaving only the bare mountains. The civilizations near the sea will drown. That is the reason why we should control the gases which are causing the temperature of the earth to increase.
Also, diseases and illness are connected with the increase in temperature and decrease in the rainfall. The characteristics of temperature and rainfall are connected with the diversity of climate change. Due to the increase in the diversity of climate change, the occurrence of several diseases may result and that can make people suffer time and again.
Talking about my own country, Nepal, There are many effects seen due to climate change, such as:
i. The glaciers are rapidly melting.
ii. The rapid rise in temperature.
iii. Erratic rainfalls and increase in frequency of extreme events such as floods and droughts.
iv. It affects the major sectors of economy such as agriculture, tourism, hydropower, etc.
v. It affects in the biodiversity of Nepal.
Climate change is already becoming dangerous for our survival and we have to do everything possible to prevent it. The globally accepted strategy to control disastrous impacts of climate change is adaptation and mitigation. For a least developed country such as Nepal, adaptation should be the priority. The Himalayas of Nepal portends the fact that it is the prime target country of climate change impacts. It's time to play a leadership role in showing political will and playing a responsible role in globel events.
Therefore, COP 27 must be sustainable for not only development of Nepal but also for other countries who are suffering with it. When COP 27 along with the 28th anf 29th in the coming years will be sustainable then only we all will be able to manage the worldwide problem of Climate Change.
After many research, I have got to know several things that I would otherwise not know if I would not be in this platform here. Topical Talk has enhanced my creative thinking which has given positive result and improvement in my studies.
