AI
AI is a highly intelligent species of robots and such electronics with their own intelligence that could do many things to the humans as a whole including taking over jobs, repopulation and even taking over the world. But what actually is ai, well the easy answer for that question is computer systems capable of performing complex tasks that historically only a human could do, such as reasoning, making decisions, or solving problems. There is also some other functions that will have a mixed opinion including ‘ai generated art’ where you can type in a prompt and send it to an AI for example ChatGPT and the ai program will draw an image to match your prompt. Pretty cool right, but there is downsides including as the ai better there is going to be less and less human artists and you can ask the ai to paint something in the style of another artist but the artist cant give permission to the ai so it's technically illegal especially if the ‘real’ artist is dead. Now let's get to the positives and negatives:
POSITIVES
AI could potentially help humans in lots of ways including jobs, creativity, engineering issues, game help and lots more. They can also be used to talk to when your lonely and they're malfunctions could be either terrifying or hilarious, they can even make life easier and more fun for humans by being literal transformers you can have a car, friend phone, tv, tablet, chair, pc even a door all in one small little box. (if ai gets more advanced)
NEGATIVES
I am going to answer some popular questions about ai:
What percentage of people are scared of AI?
48% say AI will negatively impact them personally. 72% are worried about their personal data being used by a future power AI system. 77% are afraid AI tools will deepfake their voices or faces to commit fraud. As the more power we put into ai the more it gets a mind of its own and becomes out of control and could even teach itself to do anything they want
as they are more powerful and capable than humans and the more they grow the easier it is to completely take over the world.
What is the UK public opinion on AI?
Over half (58%) expect the societal impact of AI to be neutral (score 4-7), while 14% predict a positive impact (score 8-10) and a quarter (25%) predict a negative impact (score 0-3). These are the average scores but i personally believe that this: ‘Over half (58%) expect the societal impact of AI to be neutral’ is going to become this: Less than half (28%) expect the societal impact of AI to be neutral and that this: ‘and a quarter (25%) predict a negative impact’ is gonna become this: ‘Over a half (55%) predict a negative impact’.
