The UK and Rwanda

Ted talk

August 2022:

The House of Lords and the Rwanda representatives standing in front of the whole world, which is watching them fight in an 7 hour Livestream, which results decide about hundreds of people and their future.

The UK signed an agreement with Rwanda in 2022, which contradicts, that refugees and immigrants that are seeking asylum, are being send 6000 km away to Rwanda, to start a new life there.

While Rwanda sure is a lovely country and loving people, there are still many controversy about this case:

Before we start talking about the problems and risks about the new immigration policies let’s see first what they are now and what the difference is between refugee policies and immigration policies.

If you come to the UK as an refugee, you can only stay if you cannot go back to your homecountry due to fear and danger. You then apply for an asylum and meet with an immigration officer, which will do a screening with you, which then decides if you are allowed to stay or not.

If you come as an immigrant, because you are a student or have a job offer there or simply want to live there, you need to apply for a visa and atleast be able to speek english.

As we can see, the policies are very simple and good to manage, but the UK decided to make a deal with Rwanda, to send the helpless people across the world, without any reason. But why is it so problematic?

The people, that were send with the first plane to Rwanda never actually made it there. There are many cases of abuse and torture of immigrants and refugees, sexual abuse, human trafficking, kidnapping and deaths. The people are getting cut of from society, work exploitation limited freedom and many more.

Rwanda also does not respect the immigration policies and there is a too long waiting time for the asylum, which is why the UK took them to court. They also do not respect the safety policy.

Now, in my opinion there is no particually reason to send millions of people across the country, to experience abuse and assault, danger and fear, which they fled from, just because you do not want them in your country. As an such eveloped country you should never do that to people that search peace and freedom in your country, because they doidnt have that at home. That is racist and discrimination against other people. Instead, you could search for countrys in Europe for example that are more safe and cooperate with refugees. For example Germany or Italy. Countrys that are near and less dangerous and are more controllable. In my opinion this contract and diplomatic relationship should end and the UK should find a new resolution for this issues, but stop putting people in danger for their life, which they fled from already.
