Is AI/artifical intelligence sustaniable?

I think AI system uses lot's of energy which damages the earth .They are trying to make it renewable and AI energy is trying to become more sustainable .To build these smart robots you need special parts like computers and expensive chips. which produce lots of carbon emissions and waste.
I think scientist need AI because they could change the future to a good one by using AI to predict climate change models.
I think shop's don't need AI because at the till they could use a mecinisem or a human and if AI is being used more and more in shops, less people will have a job and thousands of people will be out of work who currently work in retail. this could lead to people losing thier homes and responsible jobs.
Most people know Ai is bad for the world by releasing harmful greenhouse gases but also good by making jobs easer like what I said in p2. I think AI should only be used by jobs like scientists, docters and journalists who need to report what is going on the world to everyone. .Others disagree because they think their jobs deserve it and some want to save money on staff by replacing humans with AI robots.
