Alastair Burnet Award: winners announced!
The Economist Educational Foundation is delighted to announce the winner of the Alastair Burnet Award for Topical Talk Festival 2025.

The Mayflower Centre in Romania was chosen for this award for showing outstanding commitment to the Festival.
The Mayflower Centre have been a part of the Topical Talk Festival since its inception and have always displayed thoughtfulness and knowledge in their comments. This year, the students showed critical-thinking and originality in their comments, often thinking from new and unexpected points of view and showing great empathy in doing so.
The school will receive a trophy and a £1,000 grant to further students’ news-based education.
