In this essay, I argue that Musk's influence is problematic since it poses various threats to society and the economy.

He is able to influence entire industries through his endeavours with SpaceX, Tesla, and others. Musk's personal interests may have a coercive effect on entire industries as a result of this degree of control. For instance, he may influence government policy on climate change and green energy, which may not always be in the best interests of the general people, due to his dominance in the electrical vehicle industry.

Furthermore, Musk's large social media following allows him to influence public opinion. His tweets have been known to cause stock values to skyrocket or plummet, destabilising many businesses and companies. For example, his statements on cryptocurrencies have produced considerable changes, demonstrating that his power may, at any time, negatively impact any company. This control over millions of people is dangerous because it might lead to decisions based on personal beliefs rather than objective facts.

Musk also has political power because of his wealth and connections. With his status, he can advocate for policies that benefit his enterprises, such as government contracts for SpaceX and funding for Tesla. This raises questions about whether his influence favours his own interests above the welfare of everyone else. When a single individual can affect policy decisions in their favour, fairness and democracy suffer.

Society is at risk from his political authority, his impact on public opinion, and the spreading of his influence across multiple businesses. To prevent possible danger, it is essential to make sure that such power is properly handled and closely controlled (a practice clearly not currently in place with Elon Musk.
