One small step for women, one giant leap for humankind

Gender inequality is undoubtedly one of the most widespread issues around the world. The ‘victim’ of every society is no other than woman who has been mistreated, underestimated and compared with the opposite gender for all those years. According to the World Economic Forum, it could take another 131 years to achieve gender equality.
Nowadays, over 130 million girls do not go to school, according to the United Nations, especially in many underdeveloped countries. It is a shame that in such countries gender is a barrier to female education. Even though in other countries women have thrived in the sector, they are often discriminated in various fields, especially the ones related to science, mathematics and technology where men are supposedly superiors. It is quite frustriating that males confront women like an object dedicated to housework and chores instead of encouraging them to be active and show off their talents in the workplace. As mentioned above, women discrimination in the work field is a major problem. For instance, women earn less salary that men for doing the same work. Oxfam highlights that females have more than 12.5 billion hours of unpaid job everyday including the labor which is an extra ‘task’.
In my opinion, it is impossible to eliminate stereotypes completely since men have created a male-lead society, where everything is beneficial for only the one gender. Over the years women have proved to be extremely powerful personalities, charismatic in their work and resistible to male domination which is why I believe that women are even capable of surpassing men in some fields such as the academic ones.
It is admiring that numerous organizations like Human Rights Watch, World Bank, Anesty International and others are trying to combat this hotly debated topic and promote women rights by organizing campaigns and protests to fight for the unheard voices. Everything counts and even a small step could make the difference, so we shall not miss the opportunity to fight for women.
