Written standpoint on women in space

Small steps, big roles

We're in 2025. Everybody knows there's no difference between men and women, apart of the biological ones of course, so, why do people still think working in jobs related to space are for men?

Nowadays, women have great roles in the space community as there's lots of them working for NASA, for example.

Valentina Tereshkova may be the pioneer as she was the first woman to go to space. Then, Svetlana Savítskaya followed her way and went further as she was the first women to take a spacewalk.

These events happened decades ago so it's quite clear that, nowadays, they have even better roles into this fantastic world.

  • I personally think that are lots of jobs in wich men will perform better, and with this I dont refer that these jobs are men-oriented, I mean that the biological differences between men and women make that men perform these jobs better in general. Having this said, I dont think that any job related with Space like astronauts are not one of these jobs. I dont really think that there is any difference at all between a woman astronaut and a men astronaut and that they will perform this job exactly the same. I dont understand why people think that astronauts should be men. I made a research and in 2020, 241 persons have been in the Space station in total, from wich only 40 were women. 400 men have had the opportunity to be out of the planet Earth, not even 100 women. I dont think there is a difference at all and I would like to think that this is just because more men dream to be an astronaut than women.

  • I think that we pay attention to less important things. More people have heard for example, Kendall Jenner, who sets the beauty and body standards to all girls in the world with her photos on social networks. Less people heard about Valentina Tereshkova, who made a big step for humanity, especially women gender. I think it’s right time to start questioning our ideals and inspirations in society. Today, beauty unfortunately has a complete diffrent dimension. Only the inside of person, mind and heart is important. The body changes but what a person gives to world and others remains forever.
