Should a countries first responsibility be to help its own citizens or people in need around the world?
International aid is giving aid, like money or help, to another country that is in need. This can be beneficial to the country giving aid but can also cause problems.
A country’s first priority could be to give need to its own citizens over helping other countries. This is because if a country keeps giving aid to another country, then they may not have enough money to provide for themselves, which could lead to them needing aid. Constantly giving a country aid could also lead to them heavily relying on other countries, instead of becoming independent.
However, giving aid to another country could also be good, as it forms a alliance with them which can benefit both countries. The aid could help save lives and protect people from war and natural disasters. This could also be useful for the future. For example, giving aid to Ukraine could help save lives and provide weapons for their country.
In conclusion I believe that it is best to prioritize a country’s own citizens as the more people who live in the country, the wealthier and powerful the country is. I still believe we should give aid to other countries, but the priority should be to protect its own country from danger or harm. Giving too much aid could make the country in need unable to provide for itself.
