  • The lesson was very interesting and inspiring. Thank you topical talk.

  • This lesson taught me about political power, and how a sudden shift has happened to appeal to younger generations.

To elaborate, the fact that South Korea’s campaigns have shifted to social media and are using trends to spread their influence, has shown me how important it is that the younger generations are well educated, and can discern good choices from bad to prevent the spread of mis-information.It’s also shown me how vulnerable the younger generations actually are. As our main form of advocation and news has begun to be taken advantage of, chances are that our political views will also begin to take form based on what we see. Not only that, but the voting age being lowered to 16 increases the risk of online manipulation. Campaigns could become purely for younger generations without the goals of the country at heart. Personally I am of the view politics should stay off a child’s platform until they are ready.
As a summary, I learned the importance of education, online safety, as well as how important it is to stay informed due to the chances of being taken-advantage of.

  • The lesson surprised me as I did not know that lots of people get there decisions from the internet 🛜 and lots get from there family.

  • This lesson really taught me about age and maturity and how everyone should be given a chance to be heard and not discriminated just because of their age or their size because we are practically all the same and just different in many special ways. This lesson also improved my vocabulary a lot and taught me that this is not just all about getting stars but it is also about improving us in many ways we might never notice and things like the quizzes even help us to know more about our country and I had a lot of debates in class and this topics really helped me so I really aced them, and I love how this lesson also gives me the grace and chance to speak my mind and express myself and it helps me hear different opinions from different people all over the world and now, I have a lot of knowledge. So sincerely, I love this lesson A LOT, and I feel like I am ready to vote already. Thank you so much for the lesson.

  • The lesson went well, it was all about teamwork because working together helps to achieve goals faster and without teamwork, we won't be able to do somethings which is not the vision and the mission of the economist foundation. So, we need to work together like the team spirit is there so that we can be able to achieve the economist foundation's goal this year. Thank you topical talk for your efforts.

    1. yes she is right about team work ,because with out team work we can do nothing.

  • This weeks lesson was very interesting to me. In my free time, when I'm with my friends or in the classroom I think that the last theme we would talk about is democracy and what is the best age for voting and that is exacelly why I like this festival. We talk about everything that is important these days and something that we will need in life. In todays lesson we had two groups of 4 and most of the time we discussed about who has the biggest influence in our lifes. Teacher brought two glasses (A and B) and if we choose the first one we think that people from our communities influence on us the most and if we choose the second one we think that social media influence the most. In the first half of a class almost every student thought that social media influence in our lifes the most and after teacher said what she think and we discussed about it we change our thoughts. In the end, almost every pencil was in the glass which says that people in our communities influence on us the most. We concluded that we can learn some things from our parents, friends etc. that we can't learn from scrolling on the internet and opposite way. In my opinion parents and friends or people that surround you have the biggest influence than social media because I personally would be more interesting in something my mum or dad say than something random from some site that I don't actually know it's true.
Also about the age for voting, we said that that depends on how young people see the world and are they interessed in politics.

  • Today's lesson was veeeery interesting because of this, but it was interestings because of several things. First one, because debating with my partners about many diferent political topics and, of course, the lowering-age of voting, was vey interesting, and secondly, because I could understand their voting prefferences and thinking. My group's country to discuss was South Korea's Influence by social apps. It was interesting and, somehow funny, to watch my partner's ideas and reactions to this. Thanks to this, I have learned the importance of being careful with social media and learn the difference between political influence and manipulation.

  • Hi topical talk festival! Im going to tell to you my vision of my class about votes and politics as a spanish student

This lesson taught me about that a lot of people are influenced by videos of social media like "TikTok" or"Instragram". Some of that videos are also created by some political parties like: Vox, PP, Psoe (spanish parties) The mission of that videos are to influence young people to vote their political groups without talking about all the reality of voting some parties. This lesson taught me a lot about politics, votes and influences!

  • well the lesson was quit interesting and interactive it made me understand the voting age and election it also made me understand that the age of voting is not only adulthood like from 18 from above but the capacity of knowledge and wisdom making every one understand the way the voting age and election works. thanks a lot for the lesson

  • the lesson was very interesting and fun I learnt a lot. Thank you

    1. What did you learn?

  • This lesson taugh me that lowering the voting age is when people talk about letting 16 years old vote instead of waiting until 18. Before this class, I did not really think about this topic. I only knew that in Spain you can vote when you are 18.
In class we talk about if It would be a good idea to let younger people vote. Some students said yes because young people also have opinions and the goverment makes decisions that affect them, like school rules, education, and the environment. They think It is fair that teenagers can say what they think.
Other students said no because they think that 16 years olds still too Young. They said that maybe teenagers are not mature enough and that they can change their opinions very fast. Some people also said that young people can be influence a lot by their parents or Friends.
In my opinión, I think It could be good to lower the voting age, but only if young people learn more about politics in school. If we understand how they goverment works, we can make better decisions.
This lesson helped me think more about how our country works and why voting is important.
