There are two main views on allies - good and bad.

Good - having allies is a tool of support, cooperation and companions. In times of war or need, allies will provide support to hold up the country. Many allies are holding up countries in a time of need and other occasions that include needing help and support from surrounding allies. Take World war two for a prime example, many countries became allies with the United Kingdom during this time like the United States and the Soviet Union.

Bad - the bad view of this is the fact that many countries are power hungry, and gain powerful allies to scare and frighten other countries out of fighting for . Many countries are using allies to advantage, forcing them to go to war with others (example: King Philip forcing England to go to war with France during Mary Tudors reign.) and mainly using it to an advantage. Not only do these cause tension in the agreements of allies which causes others to turn on each other, but this can cause conflict between the people of those countries with riots and public protests.
