Is it safer for a country to have many different allies or to rely on one very powerful relationship?

Well i think it is better to have many allies than having just one particular ally. As much as a strong single ally can provide heavy protection and may foster unity, yet depending on one particular nation for support is very risky in the sense that,if the ally should betray you or withdraw support, the lesser nation would be in great danger.A clear instance of betrayal was the betrayal of the south vietnam by the U.S. during the vietnam war, this shows the danger of relying too heavily on one powerful partner.
Moreover, when the stronger partner holds more power,it can easily dominate or dictate terms for the weaker nation reducing its independence.
On the orther hand, building a relationship with many countries gives a country, stronger protection than having a single powerful partner. When a country has several allies,it does not depend only on one partner for its safety,if one partner should betray or change its mind, orther partners will come in to help,Also having multiple allies, also means no country can dictate terms for the orther just like in a confederal system of government.
Finally, true securityis not found on dependency on one ally.It come by building many alliances with orther countries where indepency is protected and unity is fostered.
