I think we should cover things like the ways the world have changed because the world has evolved so much through time with new tech and other new discoveries the world has changed in many new ways space exploration finding new places and tech to even surpass human understanding. I really think other students all around the world today will love this topic because there is so much to explore in the new ways the world was changed new kingdoms and challenges that humans had to go through from the Ice age to the bronze age to Victorians the world has evolved enormously with new things waiting to be discovered. I hope this inspired you to do this topic and I hope I get 1 to 3 stars this has been an amazing event I cannot wait until we start this standpoint see you topical talkers !
that's so good who ever you are a genius.
I agree because my mum is always saying how much the world has changed with new tech and how everything is undergoing construction even when they don't need it.
I agree with you funny_volcano because like you said the world has evolved greatly even though it has gone through many hardships, war, even slavery, but even at that, it has done many incredible things like trying to discover more things in space and are there living things on Mars. Now I would like to answer a question, are you satisfied with the fact you have just one star although what I read from your comment you were hoping to get three do you still want to push to three and sit at the top or do you want one star and sit at the bottom of the leader board.
Why I am replying to this comment is because it will make other pay more attention to news and pls drop a star thank you topical talkers.
I think we should cover extreme weather and climate disasters because they're becoming more common and they affect people's homes, safety, and daily routines in ways that young people should understand. This matters to me because when storms, heatwaves, or floods happen they don't just appear on the news - they change real lives and students deserve to know why these events ae increasing and what communities can do to stay prepared. Other students around the world will find this topic important because extreme weather is a global issue that affects millions of families in different countries and sharing our experiences would help us understand how climate change is shaping life as we know it.
I agree with you that extreme weather and climate disaster need to be addressed immediately as the impacts are deeply personal. Extreme weather conditions affect physical and mental health, for example high temperatures causes heat exhaustion and heatstrokes. In Africa for example warmer climates allow mosquitoes and ticks which act as vectors to spread malaria, dengue, and lime disease to new regions.
Extreme weather conditions also bring about food and water sarcity as droughts and inconsistent rainfain can affect harvests, extreme rainfall can also contaminate water supplies resulting in overflowing sewage system. When these things happer, lower income families are hit the hardest.
Another area to consder is economic and social displacement as a lot of people have been made to leave their land as a result of either drought or flood, it is reported that tens of millions will lose their homes by 2050. Labour productivity in certain sectors like agriculture is also affected as extreme heat reduces work hours since people need to work in a safe environment which inturn affects wages and reduces the GDP of countries. In recent times, we have seen flood destroy roads, homes, farms and power grids, to repair these things often requires billions in taxpayers' money, so it is important that more attention is given to this area.
I think we should discuss social media and the bans that are taking place in countries like Australia. I believe a lot of countries are also going to adopt this policy and it will be interesting to discuss in a global setting. We can discuss whether banning u16s from social media is a good idea. We can also discuss the negatives and positives of social media.
Let’s talk about how AI is shaking up schools and the way we learn. It’s already a big deal for students like us. Stuff like ChatGPT and other AI tools make homework easier, help brainstorm ideas, and speed up research. But they also bring up some tricky stuff—like what’s actually fair, and who’s really responsible for the work.
This matters to me because it’s changing how we learn and get ready for jobs down the road. And honestly, students everywhere are in the same boat. Tech is everywhere now. If we really understand AI, we can use it smarter, keep our creativity, and make better choices about our online lives.
I agree because, AI is like totally changing school right now and it's kinda crazy! Like, me and my friends use ChatGPT or whatever all the time for homework. If I'm stuck on math or need ideas for a story, I just ask it and it spits out answers super fast. It helps brainstorm stuff or fix my writing so it sounds better. A bunch of kids do it too – I heard like most older kids use it for school now, and even some younger ones like us are starting.
But it's tricky cuz sometimes people just copy the whole thing and say it's theirs, and that's not fair. Teachers get mad if you don't show your own work, and you don't really learn anything if the robot does it all. Like, what if I need to think for real on a test or job later? My brain might get lazy or something. Some kids say it makes homework way easier and funner, but others think it's cheating yourself out of getting smarter.
I think we should cover how artificial intelligence is quietly influencing everyday life, especially for young people, because it already shapes many of our decisions without us always noticing. From the way social media feeds are organised on platforms like to how search engines prioritise information, AI decides what we see, what we miss, and sometimes even what we believe. This matters to me because these systems are becoming more powerful, yet most students are expected to use them without being taught how they work or who is responsible when things go wrong.
This topic is important because AI is not just a future issue—it is a present one. It affects education through automated marking and learning apps, employment through CV-screening software, and privacy through data collection. If young people are excluded from these conversations, decisions about our futures will be made without our voices.
Other students around the world will find this topic interesting because AI crosses borders. Whether someone lives in a high-income country or a developing one, technology increasingly affects access to opportunities and information. Discussing AI helps students think critically about fairness, power, and responsibility in the digital age, rather than accepting technology as neutral or inevitable.
Overall, this topic encourages awareness, curiosity, and informed citizenship in a world that is becoming more automated every day.
I think we should cover climate change and extreme weather because, it is something that affects our country and our life.
In recent years, many countries have faced floods, heatwaves and storms. These problems damage homes, fields and different institutions. I feel this topic is important because young people like us will grow up in a world affected by climate change. If we understand it better, we can learn how to protect the environment and prepare for the future.
Other students around the world will find this topic important because climate change affects every country.
Some countries faces wildfires (like America) others face droughts or rising sea levels. It has turned into a global issue that connects everyone. Learning about it can help students share ideas, understand different experiences and think about solutions together. So they can know about the different issues of climate change and be aware of it.
I think we should cover extreme weather, such as major snow storms causing power outages and travel bans. This type of weather affect people’s lives, daily routines, safety and travel. It’s becoming more common and is hard to avoid. People who need to travel often for work are stopped by this problem as there are ongoing travel bans, which no one knows when it will be unbanned. This it’s important to me because seeing people on the news, who are suffering from intense weather, for example, 5000 flights have been cancelled across the US and this has affected hubs in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. Living everyday life in these weathers are not the best thing and can primarily cause problems and complications.
Other students around the world will find this topic important because weather is a global issue that can affect the lives of others and potentially them. If more students know about this issue and are aware, the world can experience this together and help find away to overcome it.
I think we should discuss the impact of social media on how we see ourselves, as it influences our self-esteem and emotions. Often, the high beauty standars on social media create social pressure, constant comparisions, and anxiety, especially among young people and students trying to fit in.
Other students around the world will find this topic important and interesting because almost everyone uses social media daily. It´s a topic many people can relate to, as it affects relationships and self-confidence. In my opinion, talking about this is a great idea because it shows us that we are not alone and that others feel the same way. This helps us avoid judging ourselves and encourages us to understand the root of our insecurities.
For a future Topical Talk lesson, I would love to explore the topic of how artificial intelligence is changing our world. Today, AI is being used in schools, hospitals, businesses, and even in space research. It is no longer something from science fiction — it is part of our daily lives.
This topic matters to me because technology is shaping our future careers and the way we communicate. Tools created by companies like OpenAI are changing how students learn and how people solve problems. Understanding AI helps us prepare for the future instead of being surprised by it.
Students around the world would find this topic important because AI affects everyone, no matter which country they live in. It raises interesting questions: Will robots replace jobs? How can we use AI responsibly? What skills will young people need in the future? These are questions that connect all of us globally.
Learning about artificial intelligence would not only be exciting but also practical. It would help students think critically about technology and inspire them to become future innovators.
I believe this topic would create a powerful and meaningful discussion for Topical Talk. ⭐🌍
Thank you!
I think I will get even 1 star for my work??
I disagree with you because, if AI helps people with jobs and help students with homework they can take their phones to school they can use it to cheat in exam, test, classwork, and homework. Ai can take over some peoples job and take their personality away from them or someone else personality. And also it can give students the wrong answers and he or she will type or write it not knowing that it is the wrong answer. And it can give an answer that the student and the teacher will not understand. So that is why we should not use AI to do almost everything. Like at my house they use AI to help me with my homework but they do not say exactly what AI said but they will tell me something that is simple. What I am trying to say is they will tell me something that is for my level. And if they do not understand something they will ask AI but I think that they should not use AI if not it can tell them the wrong thing or will give them something that they will not understand like I mentioned before this one. So we should not use AI for things that are very important but you can use Google Chrome to understand what that thing is trying to say, and it will not give you the wrong answer or give something you do not understand.
I think next we should talk about the world cup that we get to
see every 2 years that's coming up thery soon and everyone is so
exited to see the world cup the bad thing is that it's on past midnight.
wen i come home from school i'am going to watch it.
I think we should cover how AI is taking over the world and whether we should actually trust AI because AI is actually listening to conversations we have and can send personal information we talk about to the Goverment or someone like that. Also another reason we should cover this is because people need to use AI for the right thing and need to know the DOs and DON'Ts,aswell as knowing how to be safe when using AI.
I think that we should cover polictic because Donald Trump thinks he rules the world when he does not and want to take over diffrent countrys when he should be more focus on his country [America] while his country is not doing well bye tropical talkers
i think we should cover the harmed people in countries like north Korea or Afganistan because this has been going on for many years and getting tortured is not a normal thing now a days, for many countries and people will become sulking people.
others students will find this interesting because they will see how the world really is.
I would like to learn about the Chinese new year and the fire horse because I find this very interesting.I think other students would like to learn about Chinese new year and the fire horse because the fire horse is only here every 60 years so it is very rare to live in the year fire horse unless the fire horse year is a few years after you were born then you would lived in the year of the fire horse twice.
i think we should cover AI because it is getting in way to much control of the internet an now we can not tell what is real or what is fake .other students from around the world will find this important because AI is in so much control and is actually listening to our conversations ! this story will also be interesting to other students around the world especially teachers because there students sometimes use AI or CHAT GPT to answer questions in exams .
we should cover the fact that the world has changed a lot because there is a lot of new tech and gadgets like new inventions ,the world has also become a lot more dangerous because people are spending a long time on devices rotting their brains ,meanwhile ,they could be doing homework, studying or even playing with friends .
I think that we should cover harming other people it feels important to me because I would like people to live in unharmed world another reason why I feel like it is important because people need to be treated the same why other people want to be treated. I think other people would think this interesting because other people might think the same way and they also might like to do that topic on topical talk but I also think other people might think this is important because I think we all want to and also we all need to treat people like we want to be treated and it is basically saying that we need to treat people like WE want to be treated
I think we should cover the rising cost of living and how it’s affecting families, especially with food and housing prices going up. Here in Canada, our housing and cost of living has skyrocketed compared to previous years.
This matters a lotto me because even if we’re young, we can see it. Groceries cost more. Eating out costs more. Some families are stressed about rent or mortgages. You can feel the pressure in conversations adults/parents are having. It affects what activities kids can join, what trips families can take, etc.
This point isn't just for Canada. Other students around the world would most likely find this important because the cost of living isn’t just a local issue or an issue for one country. In many countries, prices are rising and families are struggling to even pay rent and for necessities. It connects to jobs, government decisions, global events, and much more. Understanding why things are actually getting more pricey helps us understand how the world works fully and what to improve on.
I look forward to any comments!
I agree with you on this whole heartedly. Although I do not live in Canada here in Nigeria the prices of things have gone up. When my parents were young almost everything was cheap, their school fees was only five hundred naira. Now prices have gone up and parents fight and divorce and when their children experience this they understand why their parents tell them to go away because they are thinking about what to do while things are very expensive. Sometimes it can lead to violence between adults/ parents.
I think that we should talk about the future of the economy. Unemployment rates are sky-rocketing in the UK, and around the world. In the UK right now, 16.1% of 16-24 year olds are currently unemployed, and considering the fact that some could still be in school/university, it is extremely worrying. I find that it is a really important issue, and something that we should be thinking more about in this time of technological advancements, the effects of AI looming over us, and global warming at its worst. We are going to be the new generation of people living on this planet, and the fact that almost a fifth of us are unemployed is terrifying, as it means that we will not have the opportunities, knowledge, experience or money to inherit the world when the older and leading generations are out of the picture.
I think that other students around the world will find this topic interesting, as it involves all of us. Every student here could feel the effects of having less younger people being able to find jobs, and it is something that should be talked about and made more aware of. The more aware we are of this issue, the more push there will be to try and help the future of Planet Earth, and what better way to talk about it than by the younger generation themselves?
I think we should cover the topic of climate change and extreme weather because it affects everyone, no matter where they live. In recent years, countries like India have faced heatwaves and floods, while places such as Australia and United States have experienced wildfires and powerful storms. This shows that climate change is not a future problem — it is happening now. It matters to me because young people will live with the long-term effects of decisions made today.
Other students around the world will find this topic important because it connects to daily life: food prices, water supply, health, and safety. It also links to global cooperation through groups like the United Nations, where countries work together to reduce emissions. Learning about this topic can help students understand science, politics, and responsibility, and encourage them to think about solutions for a more sustainable future.
I think we should cover children’s mental health around the world because it is something that affects millions of young people but is not always talked about enough. Many students feel stress from school, family expectations, social media, or world events, and sometimes they don’t know how to deal with it or ask for help.
This topic matters to me because mental health is just as important as physical health. If young people are not feeling okay mentally, it can affect their learning, friendships, and confidence. Talking about it in a lesson could help reduce stigma and make students feel less alone and make them feel less anxious about talking to someone.
I think there should also be a part of that lesson where you talk about how to reach out to someone that's dealing with mental health, and where children can reach out without being punished for it because sometimes just talking to someone is an instant relief. I think a lot of children are afraid to speak about it,to their friends,to their teachers,to their parents, because of this punishment fear,so, talking about places where they can talk freely and have the choice to stay anonymous puts them at some kind of relief.
Other students around the world would find this topic important because no matter where you live, young people experience pressure and emotions. Learning how different countries support children’s mental health could also give us ideas on how to improve support in our own communities.
If I could choose one news story, it would be the debate over Deep-Sea Mining. To make batteries for electric cars and smartphones, we need minerals like cobalt and nickel. These are found in "nodules" on the ocean floor but getting them might destroy ecosystems we haven't even explored yet.
This would be an outstanding lesson because it involves a "difficult choice" for our planet. On one hand deep-sea mining can help us stop using fossil fuels faster, which is a global priority to fight climate change. On the other hand, scientists say deep sea is a "carbon sink" that helps regulate the Earth's temperature. If we disturb it, we might cause an ecological disaster that cannot be fixed.
Discussing this helps you to become a more responsible citizen because it isn't a simple yes or no question. We have to decide if the ocean should be used for profit or protected for our share future. It helps us look for more innovative solutions like better recycling rather than just taking more from nature.
signing off: fair minded elephant
I think we should consider talking More about the world and what's happening in it whether it's conflict, politics or anything else that might effect us. We should also think about how technology will begin to change how things work around the world for example traditions will get changed and things like exploring our planet and other planets too.
These types of subjects will matter to us since it can directly effect our future thus giving us a reason to care even more than before. With technology improving every day there's no telling what we can do and what our limits are, in fact, humans have been known to surpass their own predictions so let's continue living our best until we die.
Humans have never stopped getting more and more advanced, going over countless challenges like both the world wars and multiple pandemics across history. Nothing can stop us. These new topics need to be relevant for young people around the world. In order to give us a reason to try to understand and share our opinions about it.
I think we should discuss about data and cybersecurity. Today AI and social media are taking over the world and people are taking advantage of that as some people use hacks and scams to steal valuable data and sell it in unethical ways.
Today as per the Insurance Information Institute, in 2024 the potential loss increased from $12 billion dollars to $16 billion dollars. And in 2024 as per the Insurance Information Institute, The Federal Trade Commission's took over 6.47 million reports.
I think cybersecurity is an important issue and I would be more than happy to discuss this topic.
There were many important topics discussed by the help of Topical Talk. But from my point of view I think that there is an important topic that must be discussed, because we face everything something like it.
The topic that I am telling about is how poor people are treated ? We see in our daily life some people love to make jokes of poor people or humble them. This cause poor people to be unsociable , which can lead in some circumstances to be lonely which can cause death.
An example that happened in our world in Ireland 1845 to 1852 this period was called Great Famine in Ireland. When poor people in Ireland was starving and hadn't no choice except escaping from the country to travel to Canada or America. The greedy people needed money over the safety they gave the poor people an old ship ,which was meant for transferring coal and woods .
The greedy people didn't provide the distitute people any source of help (no food or drink) .the poor people because the lack of stuff they dead one by one and it's estimated that 100,000 people dead , therefore the ship was called the coffin ship , because poor people dead before reaching their destiny.
Thank you Topical Talk with your interesting Questions.
I think that the Topical Talk/Economist Foundation should cover the current rising political and geopolitical tensions throughout the world. Let me explain: first, the United States launched an 'intervention' to extract Nicholas Maduro (Venezuela's president) as well as his wife, Cilia Flores (Venezuela's First Lady) codenamed Operation Absolute Resolve. In this operation, the United States launched a full-scale offensive on Maduro and simply captured him in a couple of hours - was it right? - I do not believe so. International law cannot be broken even if it is the right thing. Was it a display for force unheard of in recent years which showed that the US could still fight; also yes. Also in recent news, the Iranian government has been dealing with tons of protests with people being fed up of the overtly-religious rule and authoritarian nature of the government. The Iranian government has also killed thousands of protestors when security forces used live rounds. This topic is important to people all around the world because global stability impacts us all. A stable world is a good world and a good world is a world that you wish to live in. In conclusion, due to the overwhelming amount of events happening at the start of the year - I believe the world is in a fragile state.
I think we should cover the topic of artificial intelligence and how it is changing schools because it is something that is starting to affect students our age right now. In many classes, people are already using AI tools to help with homework, projects or studying for exams. Some teachers think it can be useful if we use it in the right way, but others are worried that students might depend on it too much. I believe this is important because we are the generation that will grow up with this technology everywhere, and we need to learn how to use it responsibly instead of just banning it or using it without thinking.
This news story matters to me because I am interested in technology, and I feel that AI can be both helpful and risky at the same time. It can explain things in a simple way or give ideas when you don’t know how to start, but it can also make students lazy if they copy everything. Other students around the world will find this topic interesting because AI is being used in many countries, not just one. It affects education, future jobs and even how we think about learning.
I think we should cover the topic of AI in education because it is becoming more important in our everyday lives. Tools like AI chatbots and learning apps are already changing how students study, do homework, and prepare for exams. I am interested in this topic because AI can be both helpfully and risky. It can support students by explaining them difficult topics and giving them instant feedback for texts for example. But it can also make it easier to cheat or rely too much on technology instead of thinking independently.
Other students around the world will find this topic interesting because AI is used in schools in many counties. It’s important to know how to use AI in a smart and responsible way.
I think we should cover news about how AI is evolving and being used to create realistic but fake information online because if we do not talk about this issue we will not be able to decrease the spread of misinformation/fake news online. Both young and old people might become vulnerable to misinformation making them to choose the wrong decisions and people to come in to their lives. I think this topic will be vital and essential in the next topical talk festival even if I will not be able to participate and even though we have treated it a million times because, it is a very crucial topic to cover and this is a world wide issue, just leaving it to stop itself will not make any change. Discussing about this topic, people will be able to understand the concept of how AI works and will be able to look into it and programme it to detect what someone is using AI for and put an end to any behavior that seems suspicious. Thanks!!!!!!
I think we should cover the topic of human missions to Mars because it represents one of the boldest steps humanity has ever considered taking. With companies like SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, actively developing spacecraft to reach Mars, this is no longer just a science fiction, it's becoming a serious scientific and technological goal.
This news story matters to me because I'm really interested in space and the future of human exploration. Mars is the most realistic planet for possible human settlement, especially compared to extreme environments like Venus or Jupiter. Learning about missions to Mars makes me feel like I'm watching history being prepared in advance. It also connects to big questions: Could human survive on another planet? How would like change? What technologies would we need to invent?
Other students around the world will find this topic interesting because it's not just about space; it's about the future of humanity. It includes science, engineering, climate challenges, international cooperation and even ethical questions about colonizing another world. Whether someone is interested in technology, science, politics, or even adventure stories, Mars exploration connects to all of them.
Discussing this in the Topical Talk would encourage students to think beyond Earth and imagine what role our generation might play in shaping the future of space exploration.
I think we should cover some themes such as mental health issues mainly in teenagers since it is vitally important not only to understand our feelings and emotions, how to struggle with stress or take care of ourselves but it also would help us to empathize with others and support them as we would want them to support us.
Other students around the world will find this topic crucial because it can affect everyone in their lives and talking about it should not be someting to be afraid of. In fact, people can be perfect physically, however, without mental health they cannot reach this well-being that we would all like to achieve.
Finally, I strongly believe we should cover topics like this to make clear that these are serious topics and that no one should feel ashamed to talk about them.
I think the most important thing to cover next in a future topical talk lesson is climate change. Climate change is a global problem that affects everyone world wide, from the people that are hardest hit by storms, flooding, wildfires and droughts, to the governments and corporations polluting the earth, it involves all of us, and is going to have a big impact on peoples lives in the very near future, especially younger generations. Our generation. Human activity, such as deforestation, burning fossil fuels, and pollution are destroying our planet. When we burn fossil fuels, we produce greenhouse gasses, which causes the enhanced greenhouse effect, trapping heat in the earth's atmosphere and melting glaciers, causing rising sea levels, droughts, fires and unpredictable weather. rising sea temperatures and ocean acidity also cause coral bleaching. This is important as coral reefs are home to more than 25% of marine species. We are doing this to our planet. We are destroying our home. As Greta Thunberg said " I want you to act as if our house is on fire. Because it is." I think it is interesting and important for us to learn and talk about because it is our future. These are issues that are going to define our lifetimes. Provided we still have history books 100 years from now, this is what they are going to be about. I think that it's important we get the chance to discuss these issues so that we can start thinking about solutions, and ways society can move forward into a greener future. We are the ones who will change things, and that change starts now.
I think we should cover how social media algorithms affect the beliefs of young people because they do so in the background and shape what students believe about the world before they have a chance to think for themselves.
The issue is not people disagreeing on social media; it is engineered exposure. Algorithms are designed to favor content that sparks intense reactions, and this promotes extreme or one-sided views while quietly filtering out the balance. Over time, students are not just exposed to information – they inherit a reduced reality. When young minds are raised in personalized bubbles, creativity declines and problem-solving becomes biased by design.
The answer is awareness by design. Algorithm literacy must be taught as a fundamental skill in schools, and students must learn how feeds are constructed, how data fuels algorithmic suggestions, and how to deliberately seek out diverse views. Social media platforms must provide users with clear tools to reset or personalize their content filters. Awareness turns passive scrolling into active thinking.
This is the perfect topic for a Topical Talk as it impacts students worldwide and challenges them to think critically about a system that influences every single opinion they share. If we want global discussions to be founded on real ideas and not behind-the-scenes power, this is the conversation we need to have.
I think we should learn why human connection is still essential despite digital advancements.
Because currently we are sitting in a time called the digital age,in this era technology has become our daily companion, study work, communication, entertainment everything is now based on logic. We all wake wake up to the sound of the alarm, and before going to sleep,we run our eyes over the screen on last time.this habit has gradually become a normal routine in our modern lives.
We may communicate with each other through messages. And we express our feelings through various types of emojis.
But an emoji can never express the language of a person's eyes or the warmth of a voice. It is through face -to-face conversation, attentive listening, and sharing feelings that trust and relationship are built between people.
Human connection is very important for health, because it helps to combat of loneliness, emotional helps reduce stress and anxiety.
Therefore,no matter how much technology improves, human connection is essential in human life.
I think that by reading this, students will be able to understand that is more important mentally to build relationship with real people and communities, not just online.🫂✅❤️❤️❤️
If I could choose one topic for a future Topical Talk lesson, I would choose doomscrolling among teenagers and its connection to teenage depression worldwide.
Doomscrolling is the habit of endlessly scrolling through negative news and social media content, even when it makes us feel worse. Many teenagers spend hours each day on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where they are constantly exposed to bad news, unrealistic beauty standards, comparison culture, and distressing global events.
This constant exposure can increase anxiety, lower self-esteem, and create feelings of hopelessness. Teenagers may compare their real lives to carefully edited online lives, which can make them feel inadequate or left behind. At the same time, global crises, wars, climate change, and economic struggles appear on their screens daily, making the world seem overwhelming and unsafe.
This topic is important because teenage depression is rising globally. Understanding how digital habits affect mental health can help schools, parents, and teenagers themselves create healthier boundaries with technology. A Topical Talk lesson on this issue would encourage open discussion, critical thinking, and practical solutions—like digital breaks, media literacy, and mindful social media use.
Talking about doomscrolling is not about blaming technology, but about learning how to use it without letting it control our mental health.
i have a topic suggestion that is I think we should cover if technology helps us or not because it is a huge part of our daily lives, especially for students. As someone who loves art and use YouTube and other social platform to grow my creativity I see how technology helps me be creative and share my work with the world, but sometimes it can also be distracting or make us feel lonely.
Other students around the world will find this topic important/interesting because almost every teenager uses a phone or computer for school and hobbies. They will want to discuss if these gadgets are actually making our lives better or if we are becoming too dependent on them!
I think a good subject would be - Work Rate: Going Up or Going Down? - because many people around the globe are unemployed and robots and AI are taking their jobs. According to my research, 4.6% of the global population, representing 186 million people, are unemployed. Economically, Over 60% of Sudan's population is unemployed and about 33% of South Africa is unemployed. This could lead to discussions about whether the Prime Minister / President should be in charge of all this changing or the people of the public. Here in the UK, one of our British values is democracy: a chance to have a say in all of this. AI does not think like a human but gives the person the information it has been given. Overall, I think Work Rate is Going Down.
I think that we should cover the problem of youth unemployment because youth unemployment is rising in many countries which risks a generation of people never getting a proper foothold on the labor market and may also be a risk for democracy.
This can cause civil unrest because of young people being unhappy with their lives due to them being unemployed and thus becoming poor (e.g. Madagascar, Nepal).
For example, the number of unemployed college graduates under 30 in my country has doubled since 2019 and in the same timespan the support of extremist parties has risen sharply.
Because of this I think that it is a good idea to cover the problem of youth unemployment and collect possible solutions to it. Thank for reading!
I think a good topic would be on how important you think space exploration is. Some people think that space exploration is more of an indulgence than a necessity---the huge amounts of money and resources put can make people question if its even a good investment. With the way the Earth is now, we could use that said money to adress climate change, fight poverty, and improve quality of life for normal citizens such as clean tap water. This may look like a luxury to people when many people still lack basic needs, such as food, clean water, and shelter.
On the other hand, people argue that space exploration is important for long-term survival of humanity and technological advancements. Space organizations such as SpaceX and NASA has given benefits in everyday life on Earth. GPS, communication, and weather forecasts are all apart of the money and resources put in. In addition, technology helps scientists predict future threats like meteors and help prevent it. All this makes some to believe that space exploration is an important investment---not a luxury.
I think a great topic for a future Topical Talk lesson would be how technology is changing students’ learning and daily lives. Today, technology is everywhere, from smartphones and tablets to online lessons and educational apps. It helps students find information quickly, watch helpful videos, and work together on projects, which makes learning more interesting and interactive. This topic matters to me because technology makes it easier to learn new skills and explore different subjects. We can connect with students from other countries, practice languages, and discover creative ways to study. However, it is also important to discuss the challenges, such as spending too much time on screens or getting distracted by games and social media. In a Topical Talk lesson, students could share their experiences, recommend useful apps, and talk about how to use technology in a healthy and balanced way. We could also discuss how schools might change in the future with new digital tools and ideas.Overall, this topic is important because technology will continue to shape education and our future. Talking about it can help students become more responsible, confident, and prepared for the modern world.
thank you topical talkers 🌹
I think we should cover Roblox because it will get more people doing topical talk and so we can talk about what we think and more people would understand it more than all of the stuff about politics.
I think we should cover internet safety because lots of children are on the internet and don’t know how to use it properly. This is important because some children (or even adults) don’t know how to behave on the internet and could show or say anything to anyone or anything.
If something is not done about this problem then it could just grow and even toddlers could be online, which could make them grow up as irresponsible adults.
Other students around the world will find this topic interesting because it is an important topic that younger and older students will want to learn about because it is about their own safety.
I think we should do a subject on new challenges for us and other country’s that are in hard times
I think we should talk about safety off al things because safety come first all the time and it will help with I lots of the younger kids and make them safer for the big world
In a world where lies travel faster than truth, and machines speak more than humans… are we still in control of our future?
I think we should cover how misinformation and advanced technology are changing humanity, because this affects the whole world, especially our generation.
Today, information spreads in seconds through platforms like TikTok and Instagram. We scroll, like, and share without thinking. But not everything we see is true. Some videos are edited, some headlines are made to shock us. With AI tools from organisations such as OpenAI, it is possible to create fake voices and realistic images that look real.
I agree technology is helpful and exciting. It connects and teaches us. However, it also changes how we think and interact. Sometimes we trust a screen more than a person. This makes me wonder if technology is changing not only our world, but also us.
Fake news has influenced decisions and increased division in many countries. This shows misinformation is not just a small mistake; it can affect peace and trust. When people cannot agree on what is true, solving global problems becomes harder.
Students everywhere will find this important because we all use technology daily. This problem is global, not local.
Who controls the information we see?
Why does false news spread faster than real news?
Are we becoming more informed, or more confused?
In my opinion, learning about this will make us smarter and more responsible. If we understand it, we can protect truth and fairness in the future.
That's why I believe this topic should be in Topical talk lessons.
I think we should consider covering climate change and how it impacts our planet and our environment. So we can decide what we can do to protect our world and how it affects us.
I think we should cover climate change and extreme weather because it's happening right now and it's scary sometimes. Like, there was this huge blizzard that just hit the Northeast and messed up everything with snow and canceled flights, and it's super cold and dangerous. It matters to me because I love playing outside, but if the weather keeps getting crazier with bigger storms, floods, or hot days, it could make it hard to go to school or play with my friends safely. Plus, animals and places we learn about in science class could disappear if we don't do something.
Other students around the world will find this topic important and interesting because extreme weather is happening everywhere not just here. Some kids deal with big floods, wildfires, or droughts that make it hard to get food or water. We all share the same planet, so talking about it in Topical Talk could help us think of ideas to help stop it, like using less plastic or planting trees. It would be cool to hear what kids in other countries are doing about it too!
Hi topical talkers! In my opinion, I think what we should discuss about AI and its effects on humanity is, whether it is a threat or a turning point for the world. Other students will find this topic interesting because with our developing world today, AI is used in most of the things us young people use, like when we go online for info, entertainment and even assistance in our daily lives and so on, especially in countries like the United States. It is good for us young people to have knowledge on how AI affects the world so in case of any issues at all we can come with a way to solve it.
I think we should cover the role of education in society at large. In the world today, there are a number of debates that need to be looked at that can affect teachers and students. An example is how some people suggest that homework should be banned, as it increases stress, while others say it shouldn't be because it helps one to recall what they learned in class.
In general, I think this topic would be interesting to others because it can accurately relate with the daily lives of students and we would be able to come up with ideas for the solutions or advancements that can be established in schools. Thank you!!!
I would choose the rapid development of artificial intelligence, and how they are changing education.
Ar
I think a great topic for future lesson should be the rise of artificial intelligence AI in our classrooms this news story matters to me because AI is changing how we learn research end complete our projects in my opinion it should be very helpful to discuss the ethic of using AI for example how can we use it to help us understand difficult subject without letting it do all the thinking for us I believe that learning to work alongside AI is vital skills for the future and discussing it in topical talk listen would help as use this technology responsibility and creativity.
I think we should cover bullying, because this topic is not talked about much and it seems to me a very important topic that should be talked about more to make people aware.
Other students around the world will find this topic important to make people understand how difficult this situation is , since many students die because of It. And maybe there could be a decrease in bullying.
I would choose the rapid development of artificial intelligence and how they are changing education.
Artificial intelligence is becoming more common in schools and universities. Many students use AI tools to help them with homework, research, writing and even studying for exams.
On one hand, this technology can be very helpful. However, on the other hand, many students don't make an effort to do things by themselves. They ask AI to do everything for them. They are not worried about not knowing how to do something because AI can do everything for them, from simple exercises to full projects.
I think we should cover feminism because it is not just a headline, not just a trending hashtag, not just a chapter hidden between history lessons but it is the heartbeat of equality echoing in our homes, our schools, our streets, and our future.
Feminism matters to me because I see it in the smallest, quietest moments of daily life. I see it when a girl hesitates to raise her hand even though she knows the answer. I see it when a boy is told to “be strong” instead of being allowed to be sensitive. I see it when ambitions are measured differently simply because of gender. And I refuse to accept that dreams should come with conditions.
This topic matters deeply to me because it directly connects to our present and our future. In our daily lives, feminism influences the way chores are divided at home, the way students are encouraged in classrooms, the way sports teams are supported, and the way voices are heard in discussions. In the future, it will influence who becomes scientists, leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and decision-makers. It will determine whether equal work truly receives equal pay. It will decide whether safety, dignity, and respect are privileges or basic rights.
That is why I believe covering feminism in a Topical Talk lesson would not just inform students — it would empower them. It would challenge them to think critically, act responsibly, and dream fearlessly. And I am choosing this topic with confidence, clarity, and courage, because real change begins with real conversations!!!
Exited to hear other's thoughts!!!
I think we shall do the next topic about how much technology affects on us human in our daily life. Many problems and crimes these days was from technology. Also it causes eye ache which leaves us wait until until 18 years old to have our normal eyes back.
I think we should cover how rising sea levels are affecting coastal town because many communities are already dealing with with flooding, erosion, and the loss of homes and habitats. This matters to me because it shows that climate change isn't a future problem - it's happening now, and it's changing the places where people live, work, and go to school. Other student around the world will find this topic important because millions of people live near the coast, and hearing different experiences would help us understand how rising sea levels are impacting families in different countries and what solution might help protect these communities.
Hello Topical Talk, I think there is a topic that we must talk about . It's racism because in our daily life we see racism in different ways.
There are mainly three ways that racism takes place in our world. They are prejudice, discrimination, institutional racism. Everyone one of them is tailored by different ways .
1- prejudice is one of the racism that aim or give bad impression by a human feeling that he think about by only the outfit of a person or his skin color .an easy example for prejudice is when you find a man wearing a cloth that you are not familiar with , automatically your brain will give you a bad idea about him .All of this you think about without knowing him and his inner thinking and is he comfortable for you or not?
2-discrimination is another way of racism . This way show being biased for someone or prefer someone over another by many ways like his nationality and his skin color. An example for discrimination, when a manager is choosing between two people for hiring them both of them are professional but the manager prefer one because the other is from another country.
3- the final path of racism is institutional racism this way refer to a huge community of people being bais to a group of people and other not because there nationality and there skin color. An example for institutional racism is that a college says that no one will be promoted of the college until they join ( this college need a large amount of money) this show institutional racism for poor people without meaning anything .
This was my point of view.
Thank you Topical Talk.
I think we should cover endangered animals and how we can help them because certain endangered species actually help our planet like the african elephants are crucial for the planet as "ecosystem engineers". They create clearings in forests, disperse seeds over vast distances, and dig for water during droughts, which benefits numerous other species. Their actions help maintain biodiversity and aid in carbon sequestration, combating climate change🐘,or blue whales despite their size, these endangered mammals support the tiny organisms that provide half our oxygen.
This would also help (and encourage) any children who would like to become a conservation biologist or a
wildlife rehabilitator, these are only two examples of jobs out there that help this terribly unfortunate cause😟. I would love for you to consider my option.
See you Topical Talkers.
I want to add a new topic to our global discussions by looking at the theme of Climate Change.
In my opinion, this is arguably the most challenging problem today because of the effect it is having on our world.
We have to share this breathtaking gift we’ve been given with everyone and everything, animals and plants included but most of all, each other. Other continents. Other countries. Other cities. Other people. For some reason, we can’t simply share. There has to be strings attached and that’s just not right. I chose this because maybe our generation can convince others to come together, maybe we can make them see, as this problem, like all the others, affects everyone. All 8,000,000,000.
If put in a lesson, we can understand the effects of climate and what that means for us. A deeper explanation of why this isn’t like a war, it can’t just end by signing a piece of paper. We all have to put in the work even if it’s only causing major problems in two countries ( like a war ). For example, the polluted oceans mean the life down there such as fish, will then eat the plastic that will kill them, they have no doctors that can perform surgery, moments before we catch them fresh and eat them, all that plastic now in our bodies. Now we could just get surgery, but they can’t always be successful, can they?
Since we are the generation that will have to pay the price for the last generations mistakes, we need to be educated on this before it’s too late to make a difference.
We have a choice, let’s choose the right one. We have a fighting chance, let’s not hesitate.
I think we should cover mental health because, it deals with your mind and it affects the way you think, feel, and act .
Other students around the world will find this topic important/interesting because they will learn how to take care of their health and other people's health at their age. So let's learn to take care of our health!
I think we should cover why young people are tending each time more to join the group and not stand out, as well as why the global political situation is getting so extreme and what has caused it. This is because as youths we are the ones directly affected by both and I believe it would be really interesting to share our opinions and even historical or local references that may make us understand the issue in a global way better.
Firstly, teenagers in other generations tended to be revolutionary regarding their parents' generation having huge subcultures with a lot of history (for example emos, hippies, goths...) but in ours it seems as if we are trying to be all the same. Moreover, we aren't giving this step away (that has been historically typical) and there could be many reasons for it, so I would like to know your opinions and how the situation is in your countries.
Secondly, the global political situation is a hot topic and why has it changed so much is even more interesting. Besides, it is affecting a lot of young people's lives and knowing other countries' perspectives as well as the causes why you think is happening seems intriguing to me, without forgetting on what you think will be the next stage.
To sum up, these two topics are the ones that I would like to debate the most with you because of its impact in our lives and how the way of experiencing them may change depending on your country. However, I think any actual topic would be very interesting to be commented on and I will be waiting till next year to enjoy them as much as possible. THANK YOU TOPICAL TALK
I think that there are a lot of topics in which teenagers would be very interested in.
For instance, AI is a very interesting topic and I believe that most of the people are going to have different opinions about it because it can be very scary for some people and there are people who are fascinated with Artificial Intelligence.
Another good topic is the world of videogames. There are a lot of teenagers who are in love with them and they spend most of their time playing and creating things in unreal worlds. It can be very curious to know what the people that don`t play videogames think about them.
There are other original topics that would be very attractive for teenagers and I have one other example, that is social media. Most adults try to explain to teenagers the dangers of all the social media apps in which you have access to talk with other people you don`t know. Here in Topical Talk they can give their opinion about what they think about those webs.
In conclusion, all the things that contain technology are very interesting and you can learn from other people`s words something new about all those topics.
