Does the use of technology make the new world records less impressive than those in the past?
I think that the use of technology does make new world records less impressive because technology can make you run faster, swim faster and jump higher which means you get an unfair boost from those in the past. For example, there was a swimming costume that made you swim faster because it was tighter and made them more streamline which made them swim through the water faster. This could easily make a new world record as it makes you swim faster. They ended up banning this because it was unfair on other competitors and it was cheating.
However, some people could disagree and say that technology is just something that has come in the modern times and it helps while training to monitor what you are good at or what needs improving. People might also say that it does more good than bad for example VAR has really helped football with offsides and penalties and Hawkeye (in tennis) helps with balls being out and saves linesmen having to study the ball from the side and try and ovoid being hit. However I believe they are wrong as Hawkeye and VAR are good but it makes football less enjoyable as when there is a goal and if it might be offside then you have to wait for a long time for VAR to make a decision and I saw a game where he was offside by his nose and that might bring the fun out of it for some people.
In conclusion I think that Technology does make world records less impressive as it isn’t human ability breaking records it is just technology breaking them.
