About this lesson

In 2026 NASA had a problem. It realised its Artemis Moon mission was going to cost much more than expected. Some argue a return to the lunar surface is essential for science and future missions to Mars. Others think the billions should be spent tackling problems on Earth, like climate change or poverty.

What should our priorities be when it comes to space exploration?

Use this lesson to help students:

  • Explore the costs and benefits of returning to the Moon
  • Debate different viewpoints on investing in space versus Earth
  • Use AI to analyse the news and make sense of complex issues
