How do we conserve the earth?

This post was written by a student. It has not been fact checked or edited.

I think Earth Day is a very important day that we all should pay attention to. We can do small things like turning off lights when they are not needed or recycling waste to help preserve our planet. We can also consider reducing water and electricity consumption, and using renewable energy like solar and wind. Also, we could consider using electric cars or using public transportation instead of using our own cars. We could also consider buying organic and local produce to reduce our carbon footprint and support local farmers. We can also volunteer in local environmental activities or donate to charities that work to preserve the environment. We can also consider reducing the use of chemical cleaners that can seep into and pollute groundwater. We can use eco-friendly products instead, which can be easily recycled and replace harmful chemical products. Yes, we must celebrate the achievements we have made so far in preserving our planet and pledge to work together to protect and preserve the environment for future generations.

  • I completely agree with you, and I think that there are many different methods that can help us to conserve the Earth. I would like to talk about plastics, and how to use them in a responsable way.
Plastic, certainly are one of the most ubiquitous problems in our modern society, which has brought many advancements. However, due to all the disadvantages regarding to sustainability, plastics negative impact on our environment cannot be ignored. Did you know that:

Plastics are highly responsible of pollution, especially in our oceans. According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, by 2050, there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight if we continue on like this. What will be a severe threat to marine life, even leading them to injury or death.

Plastics take hundreds of years to decompose, what causes a greater need for landfills, what occupies valuable space. With a fast growth in plastic production and consumption, landfills are becoming too full, leading to environmental and health risks to people due to the toxic particles that they release, which can be filtered into the soil and groundwater.

Due to all these things that I told, I think that it is crucial to solve this problem fast. Here are some suggestions to do so:

Reduce Single-Use Plastics: a better idea wold be to use other reusable alternatives to single-use plastic items such as bags, bottles, and straws.

Promote Circular Economy: In my opinion, to encourage the development of a circular economy for plastics is a great idea: as more plastic objects could be recycled and reused.

Increase awareness abot this topic: if we increase public awareness about the environmental impact of plastic pollution through educational campaigns, school programs, etc. As result we could empower people to reduce their plastic waste.

In my opinion, it is important for all of us to contribute to solve this environmental problem: governments, businesses, communities, schools, hospitals, and individuals, etc (so everyone) must collaborate to solve it.
