Big Question: Should everyone be allowed to use AI?
This post was written by a student. It has not been fact checked or edited.

I think that everyone should be allowed to use AI, no matter what origin, ethnicity, religion or any other characteristic, but the very advanced versions, that could be dangerous or harmful in the wrong hands, should only be accessible to the governments of countries.
Reason one and supporting fact: the evolution of AI and technology mean that there are many new opportunities given to civilians, and overall it is one of the most interesting and important developments in the ongoing of technological tools which is changing our lives. To some, it is a magical technological innovation which could lead to "self-driving" vehicles or robots that could help do normal everyday tasks and chores. But there is always the fear of robot takeovers.
Reason two: Ai fosters innovation and equal opportunities. When accessible to all, it allows individuals, startups and businesses to compete, create and improve services, reducing inequality in technology-driven industries. So, a child from a wealthy private school in the UK would have the same chances as someone in poverty in Asia for example. Furthermore, restricting AI use could lead to monopolies. If only powerful entities control the use of AI, they could dominate markets, stifle competition and limit public benefits. Open access ensures a more balanced and fair technoloical landscape.
Reason three: ethical AI education can prevent misuse by ensuring people both understand its capabilities and risks. AI, like any technology, can be used for both good and harmful purposes. Without proper guidance and education about it, users might unintentionally cause harm, like spreading information, create biased algorithms, or exploit AI for evil or unethical activities. However, if AI literacy becomes a fundamental part of education, individuals will be better equipped to use it responsibly. Governments, tech companies and educational institutions should collaborate to implement AI ethics training. Schools can introduce AI as a concept and AI-related subjects to help students grasp how amazing it can be, but also how dangerous, while businesses can provide AI ethics workshops to employees. Transparency in AI development is also crucial, users should understand how AI makes decisions and recognise potential biases.

I think that AI should be available to everyone but block anything that's even slightly inappropriate since it can be used to generate inappropriate images and can be used to make deep fakes (fake videos or pictures that can be used in any way including illegally). AI should only be used by people that use it for work or school.
In my opinion, and from my point of view, artificial inteligence must be accesible to everyone, as it´s exclusivity woud only make bigger the inequality gap. If only a few have access to it´s benefits, such as automation, proccess optimization, and knowledge generation, it would consolidate a world where power and opportunities remain in the hands of a few. Al can improve education, healthcare, and work for millions, but if its use is restricted, it will only make stronger existing priviledges instead of reduing them. Democratizing Al its not just an option, in my opinion is a necesity for a more equitable future. But in the other hand, we have the problem of it falling into the wrong hands. Its uncontrolled use can facilitate misinformation, the falsification of images and videos, and malicious activities that can harm individuals and even entire societies. With advanced Al tools, anyone could manipulate reality, impersonate identities, or spread fake news, causing chaos and disrupt. Therefore, it´s essential to balance accesibility with ethical regulations and security measures, ensuring that technology benefits society without becomig unfair or dangerous.
I agree that AI should be available to everyone, no matter their background , but I do not think it's a good idea to let only governments use advanced AI. Governments are not always responsible with technology. In the past they have used it for spying , controlling people and even wars. If only governments have the most powerful AI , they can have too much control over information , security and the economy.
Also keeping advanced AI only for governments could slow down progress . Many big AI developments come from private companies , researchers and open source projects . If these groups can't use AI , new ideas might stop, and AI would be controlled only by political decisions instead of what's best for people.
Therefore instead of limiting AI to certain groups , I think there should be strict rules and ethical guidelines for how it is used . AI should be fair, safe and open to everyone , but with proper checks to make sure it is not misused . This way AI can benefit everyone without being controlled by just a few powerful groups.
