Written standpoint on women in space

Women around us like our mother play an important role in our life and make it happening. But a serious concern has been taking place in society since many years and has been acting as a wall for them. Gender inequality, a negative mindset of people which has been poisoning humankind.

Since my childhood, I have heard a statement whenever I cried, "Are you a girl? Don't cry like that." I just want to ask that is it necessary that only girls can cry? Why not me? Don't I have feelings? These type of stereotypes play a major role in promoting gender inequality. Like in India and even outside, in almost all the industries and factories, the people who work are men just because girls are classified into a polite and weak nature hence lacking strength and leadership.

As an identical species, it is our duty to at least look humankind as equal. This can make this world a better and developing place. Just imagine, if the abilities of men and women combine, we can reach heights.

In India, the government is trying to take full initiative to promote Gender Equality like the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. But, is it only their responsibility to take initiative? No! As humans, it makes us responsible that we too take steps to protect women rights and make them stand equally in the society. This can be done by provoking people on our level by small steps like posters. Moreover, the younger ones around us should be taught by us, the importance of Gender Equality.

In conclusion, I want to say that, a happy life is almost impossible for everyone of us so it is necessary that we take care of them and support them to withstand equally.

  • I agree with you, I say this because a lot of people that don't have basic knowledge\understanding about Gender equality think that women or girls are only supposed to concentrate in the kitchen, look after children and take care of the family's domestic need while the men go to their offices working and bringing food to the family's table ,meanwhile the both genders are supposed to have equal opportunities, for instance A family can practice Gender equality by sharing duties to both the mother , father and also the children .

  • I agree that gender stereotypes is a big problem in India, and i believe almost every country. Girls are told to wear pink and play with dolls meanwhile boys are told to wear blue and play with cars. These kind of stereotypes play a key role in promoting gender inequality, why don't children have the freedom to pick their own toys and wear whatever color they want irrespective of their gender? Not only toys, but various other things like careers are decided by gender; women are always recommended to become nurses, teachers, nannys etc or sometimes they are forbidded from even getting a job because they are expected to look after the children, do household chores and be obedient. On the other hand, men are recommended to become engineers, scientists, businessmen etc because our orthodox society believes that only men are capable of going out of the house, earning, getting a respectful job. This is NOT fair! I have observed this problem in almost every rural area of my country, we really need to educate those people about what exactly are "human rights" and how we should not bound opportunities by gender.
