The Most Urgent Issue in the Russia-Ukraine War: The Military, Education, or Healthcare?

The war between Russia and Ukraine has caused huge problems for both countries. People have lost their homes, schools have been destroyed, and hospitals are struggling. While education and healthcare are very important, the biggest issue right now is the state of the military. This is because without a strong army, a country can not protect its people, defend its land, or hope for peace. The most important reason why the military matters the most is that the war is still going on. Ukraine needs soldiers, weapons, and support to fight back against Russia and take back the land that was invaded. If the army is not strong enough, Ukraine could lose more territory, more people could be hurt, and the country itself could be in danger.

Russia is also facing problems, like not having enough soldiers and struggling to supply its troops, which affects how the war will end. The military is also closely connected to healthcare. The war is filling hospitals with wounded soldiers and civilians. Doctors and nurses are trying their best, but hospitals are running out of supplies, and many have been bombed. If the military can not protect important cities and hospitals, medical help becomes even harder to get. This means that even people with normal illnesses or injuries might not get the care they need.

Education has also suffered, with schools and universities closing or being turned into shelters. While learning is important, it is not the biggest concern during a war. A country needs to survive first before it can rebuild schools and focus on education. Children and teenagers can continue learning in safer areas, but without a strong military, there might not be a future for them at all.

In the end, healthcare and education are very important, but they both depend on the military. If the army is weak, the hospitals and schools will suffer more. That's why the most urgent problem in Ukraine and Russia is making the army strong.

  • I completely understand your point of view, emphasizing the need for a strong military for Ukraine. Factors such as education and health are secondary for now, in my opinion, because if the military fails to defend the country, all funds used to establish schools and hospitals would be wasted; it only takes a few strikes to destroy them. If Ukraine manages to present itself as a threat to Russia, it could force Russia to agree to a favorable deal to end the war. However, overpowering a country with nearly four times the military strength is only possible through aid from foreign countries.

With Russia and China on one side, the most powerful resource is America. The recent meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy proved to be a game changer. After a display of diplomacy governed by personal egos, Ukraine finds itself stranded. Countries like France, Germany, and Poland are supporting it but hesitancy from other countries within the European Union could weaken the response. Personally I think, Russia should start a peace deal as soon as possible, because Ukraine is at its weakest. They can extract the most from a peace-seeking state. Meanwhile, Ukraine should gain the support of the U.S., even if it means giving up a few minerals.

This decision by the U.S. to remove support could dramatically extend the war, affecting many people. Will Ukraine fight with only the European powers, or will the war end once and for all?

  • You have changed my mind about which is the greatest need in the war.
Before now I thought that the greatest need in war is healthcare because... healthcare is needed to cure people and if healthcare is not provided more people would lose their lives, diseases would spread.
But without the army the fate of the country is undecidable and the country would not have a strong defense, without the military they would not have people protecting hospitals or bring supplies to the doctors, without the military sending supplies doctors would not have supplies to aid soldiers.
In conclusion without the military people their wouldn't be a future for them as their country would have been destroyed.
