  • I am not sure whether voting rules should be same in evey country. On one hand, having the same voting rules in every country can make it fair and equality for everyone. And on other hand, as every country has different cultures, study levels, and economy standards and political system,so different the citizens of other countrys can't suit in new rules. So, I am not fully sure about the same voting rules in every country

  • I feel like the rules of voting should not be the same in every country, each country should have their own rule on how they vote some countries like Estonia ,fun fact: in their 2023 parliamentary election 51% of vote,s were online, while around 20 to 21 countries force voting including Australia, Brazil, Singapore and other countries force voting and those who don,t obey are hit with a fine, while in most countries there is an age limit for voting in England it is 18 but will soon be changed to 16, and in Nigeria it is 18, so different countries should have there own unique style or rule in voting.

  • I do not think that voting rules should be the same in every country. Different countries have different ways of governing, so having the same voting rules everywhere would not be ideal. Yes, the core values of voting, which include honesty, fairness, accountability and such, should be the common foundation for voting everywhere, but the rules should differ. Besides, variety is the spice of life. :)

  • I'm not sure about the voting rules as in different countries there are different standards and expectations. Many counties might have their own perspectives on voting rules and reasons for them. So, I feel like it depends on a specific country and their goals and priorities that they have for their country as well as what their own government wants for the economy and country. Voting rules, I think vary from country to country depending on the government.

  • I think the voting age should be the same because everyone deserves the same rights. However, it is a very big change for the whole world, so we must think carefully about how to do it right . because the cultural differences and the GREAT WAR history made every country special.thats why i am not sure about it. But i think Everyone's voice matters! 🌍✨

  • I think they shouldn’t as every country has different rules in general, and if everyone was the same, it would be boring and plain. Everyone has their own way of voting (everyone referring to every country) and I don’t think that should be taken away. Some countries have different age limits, or different ways of voting for privacy.

  • I think that voting rules should be different in different countries because in some countries it makes more sense if you have different rules to another country because some places are more strict like: north korea, singapore, brazil, hungary and many more have strict voting rules but free counties like:denmark, finland and sweeden have less boundries so if all the counties around the world are the same, then there is no fun to explore everywhere and its unfair for counties who need less rules or more rules to match their country

  • I think yes because if it not the same rules in every country , people will feel that it's something unfair but you know that's a really good question because I always aske myself that question but I am not so sure about my answer.

  • From my point of view voting rules should not be likewise in every country but similar, due to the fact that not everybody thinks the same way, have same culture, tradition or behaviors moreover, we have to take into account that the goverment is not the same in every country, some of them have a democracy otherwise, some others have a dictatorship, republic etc, and that is what makes us a world full of diversity. Meanwhile, I belive that we should share some compulsury rules like respect human rights, because sadly some countries do not care about them, in orther to ensure inhabitans well-being.

  • The voting system should not be same in every nation because democracies function within a complex of social, cultural, and practical contexts. A one-size-fits-all approach would simply eliminate these differences and could actually have a negative effect on voter turnout rather than a positive one. Consider the U.S, for instance, Where voting is optional and the average turnout is 54%(WEF). In other nations where voting is mandatory, there are regular reports of voter turnout in excess of 80%. Recent election stories in major, diverse democracies support this position. Journalists chronicled how election officials adjusted voting times and methods to accommodate extreme heat, migration patterns, and regional disparities. These modifications were necessary to make voting feasible. A standardised system would not be able to accommodate such issues. What may be effective in a small, highly networked nation could fail in a landmass with extensive rural regions or inadequate infrastructure. I feel that when every country follow same voting rules, then they would lose their uniqueness in their voting system. Fairness in democracy is not a matter in smilarity in all respects. Rather it is a matter of designing voting systems that are suited to local conditions while ensuring that voting remains accessible, credible, and legitimate.

  • I do not think voting rules should be the same everywhere because every country has its own traditions and ways of communicating. For example, a thumbs up means good in Egypt but it can be an insult in Italy!!! If we cannot even agree on hand gestures , we should not force the same voting symbols on everyone. Also, not every country has the same size of technology. In places with less tech, online voting could have bugs or fail during a power out. It is better to have rules that fit a country's actual tools and culture.

    Thanks for reading ☺️

    1. The example of hand gestures is an interesting one! I like how you brought this into your argument to land the point that there's no 'one size fits all' when it comes to voting systems.

  • I don't think that all rules should be same in each country because some countries are more religious and also all people act differently and might find it unfair that their rules are the same as every country and also some countries have unfair rules

  • I am not sure because if all voting ages were the same then I'd think that the people would all sort of agree with each other but if all voting ages were different the votes would be a bit more diverse and unexpected if different ages from different countries got to vote then it would be a bit more exciting and more people would probably be a bit more happy , especially parents if their teenage child got to vote with them.

  • For me, the idea or topic "should voting rules be the same in every country", is answered yes. I agree with this topic or idea because it shows respect for human rights and political or universal equality and organisations like the National Democratic Institute (NDI) push for universal standards to ensure that marginalised groups are not excluded by unfair local laws. Uniform rules also reduce manipulation and I believe that because if every country followed the same standards, there could be a global benchmark for free and fair elections and standardised rules for things like electoral registers help stop fraud. Another perspective I see in this topic is that imagine you have friends in other countries and you are all the same age but they are already voting and you are not, it will obviously feel kind of sad. Others may also have a different perspective of if all the rules are the same, there will not be flexible electoral framework but these are my own ideas and opinions. Thank you.

  • If other individuals are opportune to the same rights, why would there be an indifference in countries constitution.
Yes, different country has their own constitution but due to the fundamental human right of all people be it in a different country, an equality before the law should be made the same regardless of some indifference.
Remember that voting relates to the application of supremacy, equality before the law and certain fundamental rights, so since all humans are equal before the law, so why can't the whole world bear the same name in voting as well.
Actually, the liberty to try new things, helps us learn more about the outside world and how leadership can lead to a better change in the world, so since the something common in voting, all voting rules should be made the same for all.

  • Well, I don't think the voting rules should the same in every country because every country has their own specific constitution and ways of solving their problems which has probably been running since the declaration of that country's independence. I don't support the idea of "changing the voting rules" that work for them to something that probably won't. I think that the best solution is to let every country to develop and use their own voting rules according to their own pace.

  • I don't think that every country should have the same voting rules because they all have different tradition and behaviors
    example :
Nigeria has different food , more culture and behaviors making us special and it is important to know that every country is special in their own way

  • I think that voting in countries should be different because, each country has its own constitution, tradition and history.
Our gestures towards one another can differ in countries or neighbouring countries, for example a pat on the back can be walm greetings in Nigeria, but maybe in Egypt, it can sound disrespectful even to your peers.
Another point of my view is the different technological development in each country so our ways of voting, can be of voting through electrical means; whereby you just stay at home and make the choice of your candidates or it can be the services that can take place in the market for example, if a country says that the number of fruits sold in a country has the logo or party of a candidates and it progresses and the country gets profit, at the end of the session the National Bureau statistics (NSO) calculates the nations Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The candidates with the biggest number wins the election.
Thus, I think that, countries should NOT have the same voting rules.
    Thanks for reading.

  • I'm not sure because every country is different and has their own rules. I think yes because it is easy to vote. I think all we have to do is try to understand and vote on who we want as president. I also think no because every country is not the same and they have their own language so it would be harder to understand if you don't know what their saying. I know that other people would disagree with me because everyone is different and noone is the same. Others have different opinions about where they are from.

  • I think that voting system cannot be the same for every country because nations follow different political systems like democracies, monarchies, and hybrid governments. Rich and poor countries also differ in resources what works in developed nations may not work in developing ones. Moreover, literacy rates vary, so complex or digital voting systems can exclude many voters. A fair voting system must match a country’s system, economy, and people not be universally forced.

  • In my own point of view I do not think that voting rules should be the same in every country because it is not the same way that a country is that another country will be because it is not one person that is ruling it. If voting rules should be the same in every country things that are not allowed in a country might be allowed in another country all due to their standard of living and resources. Imagine if, let me say that in a country, when you want to vote and their voting age starts from birth, that you must get your permanent voters card from birth and if you don't you won't get it again. There are children who do not understand what voting is all about and when they want to go and vote , they take it as play and vote for anybody and at the end of the day the president of that country would be someone who cannot manage his or her country's resources . If this kind of rules are allowed, some countries who are still developing would go back to square one and people living would be poor. the number of death's would be increasing day by day. Every body is not the same and they do not have the same method of reasoning that is how also that every country is not the same and they do not have the same standard of living.

  • I voted 'no' on the poll. There are quite a few reasonings on my choice, and I shall point them out and provide explanations.

First reason, many countries have different and unique political systems. Yes, a majority of them are a democracy, but they all work in unique ways. In my country, Cambodia, it's considered a democracy, where everyone gets the right to vote, but there is an extreme preference to only one party. There are also different systems as well, and more controversial ones are communism and authoritarian, and we cannot make rules that apply to all these systems.

Next, I don't think quite a few world leaders would be pleased with this change. It would be too rushing to a country to suddenly change a system that had been placed for a long time (this applies to more developed countries, such as the USA), and might result in slight global conflicts and disagreements.

Feel free to add your opinion to my comment! Thank you!

  • I am not sure because voting rules depends a lot on a country's history, culture and political system. some places might be ready for changes like lowering the voting age, while others may need different rules to fit their situation. So having the same rules everywhere might not always be fair or practical, So what do you think?

  • I don't think so because in each country the culture isn't the same, so voting rules shouldn't be either. They should be adapted to the population needs.

Firstly, for people from different countries there are going to be methods that are easier and more difficult so we shouldn't force them to have the same one if it doesn't benefit the population. Besides, depending on the majority point of view, for example age, would be more or less important and maybe in one country 16-year-olds voting is an idea that could be easily implemented but in another is completely unthinkable.

Secondly, I don't believe that having different voting systems will make them fairer or not. Moreover, they are voting systems and they are supposed to be equally fair individually, so there shouldn't be a "right" one.

In conclusion, from my point of view, it shouldn't be the same because it should adjust to the necessities of each country's situation. As long as the systems are fair, there shouldn't be any difference between them and it shouldn't matter whether you have one or the other, the only difference is that it's better for your population for any reason.

  • I believe that the voting rules should not be the same in all countries because every country has its own civilization, culture, tradition and economy. There are huge political and historical differences between all the countries. Even in the elections, all countries are different like in countries such as, Egypt, USA, France and China, the elections system is the Republic System and in countries like The Uk, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Thailand, the election system is the Monarchical System.

Also, the age of voting in the elections is totally different in countries for example in Brazil, the election age begins from 16 years old until 70 years old. However, in Egypt the elections begin from 18 years old until death. Furthermore, in Vatican City, there is an age limit at 80.

It is extremely complicated to make all countries contain the same voting laws and system. Countries are even different in the facial expressions like in Egypt and America, the smile means happiness but in Japan, it means to say sorry to someone.

Moreover, if you nodded (moving your head from left to right) in Egypt and Arab countries, this means that you disagree but in Bulgaria and India, it means that you agree or understand something.

To conclude, it is impossible to make all the countries the same in elections.

  • I think that minimum voting ages should be different in different countries because in some countries, the leader has way more power in what happens like Vatican City, Belarus, America and Russia compared to other countries where leaders have less power such as the UK, where Parliament decides most things and also polls fir the public, and in countries where the voting system is likely rigged like North Korea, Russia and Belarus does not matter who votes because there is no point and countries where the amount of power in a leader is less is where younger people should vote and counties with more power in there leaders, only older people should vote.

  • Hey, how's going on.??
I think voting rules shouldn’t be same for every country.
Because every country has their own opportunities, somes are different kinds.
Example : Southi Arabia are have different kinds , Britain has different kinds,
So, i didn’t agree with this topic.

    1. Can you say more on each country having their own opportunities?

  • I believe that each country should have there own ways of voting and deciding who can and who can't vote, just like Wales and Scotland have lowered the rating to 16. In my opinion every country should decide without having to be told by other countries.

  • I'm not sure. Countries have different rules because of different laws . If we all had the same laws and rules, maby voting would have been the same. While different rules can be confusing, it could also be useful purely based on laws, since some rules can go against other countries laws. What do you think?

  • It would be quite nice for every country to have the same voting rules because, then, if you move to a diferent country and have no idea what the laws are, you can atleast vote.

    1. Can you say more on why there should be the same around the world?

  • I think that, yes, every country should have the same voting laws because if you go to a new country where you don't understand any of the laws there, you can still apply the same voting rules as your other countries and that would be fine. I understand the other point you guys might have but I continue to still stick to my point.

    1. You say "don't understand any of the laws", can you explain what you mean by this?

      1. I meant that in certain countries, like Afghanistan women can't vote but if the laws would be the same I can vote anywhere.

  • I put no because, different countries have different qualities like Spain's 🇪🇸 is it's exceptional quality of life or Italy's 🇮🇹 is their high-quality culinary tradition and finally Canada's 🇨🇦 is their social, legal, healthcare and education systems with its universities ranked among the best in the world.

  • I think it is quite unfair that many people under 18 already pay taxes on things like part-time jobs and shopping but they don't get a say in how that money is spent because they cannot vote if we are contributing to the countrys money just like adults do our opinions should matter just as much as theirs I don't think voting rules have to be exactly the same in every single country but if a government is talking tax money from young people they should at least let them vote to show what they think is important.

  • I don’t think so, actually. The rules for voting should not be precisely the same.

The countries differ a lot as far as their history, population, and political system are concerned. One thing might work for one particular country and might be totally out of place for another. For example, some countries might decide to reduce the voting age because the young people in their country are very involved in politics, and in other countries, the emphasis might be on accessibility measures or laws.

Nevertheless, although the rules may change, in all places, there should be similarities in values such as fairness, free choices, and making an election safe and honest; hence, unique rules, yet uniform values! ?

  • I don't think that voting rules should be the same in every country. Every country has it own political system and traditions so one set of rules may not work for everyone. Also voting should be fair for everyone so if voting rules are the same in every country, some will be fair for some country and maybe some will not be fair for the other country . And that's it
