Representation or diversity witch is more important

A film's diversity is extremely helpful because everyone can contribute their ideas when a variety of people are working on it. A group of people who think differently can share and mix ideas to create a great film, rather than having only similar people involved who think alike.

In the past, women were not allowed to vote and express their opinions, which prevented all of us from sharing our perspectives, opinions, and ideas.

Another example of not being diverse enough is when world leaders were telling children to stay away from climate change and just let adults handle it. However, some brave individuals, like Greta Thunberg, stood up and showed that we all care about climate change too. We can produce creative ideas that no one else could possibly think of.

Superhero movies tend to feature white men as most of the heroes, and I don't think this is a positive thing; I think it's not fair. Despite the fact that Marvel films seem to show the same types of people throughout, I don't feel represented in them. The movies are mostly filled with white men, not much women, and not much ethnic minorities. There is something unfair about this.

In my opinion, I think this is why diversity is more significant than representation.

  • I disagree because... what exactly is diversity, according to gloat.com ''Diversity is a term that refers to the variety of different perspectives on a team. While it is often used in the context of race and social justice issues, diversity represents a broader range of experiences, including gender, sex, socioeconomic background, upbringing, religion, education, sexual orientation, ethnicity, neurodiversity, and life experience''. While representation is ''Representation is about seeing people of all backgrounds making meaningful contributions throughout every level and department within your organization. A business that has people from all walks of life might be diverse, but if employees with similar backgrounds are segmented within a few functions or departments, then the level of representation at this organization may still be lacking.'' Diversity is a bigger deal I mean look at this scenario, imagine you are watching a film where you see a race represented, the blacks for example yes, I would like to see my race in a movie, but not when they are being represented horribly, I mean would you like to watch a movie where the diverse character is a robber or a driver, no I mean to some extent it would be better to not see my race in a film that seeing them acting a demining role in a movie. I mean if in a business organization there are various departments but one specific department has a particular race you can call that diversity but that is not exactly representation, that is basically just saying that that race can only do well in that department or that department is only for a particular race which does not exactly sound right. I mean if diversity was very important and mattered more that meant that meant that every role ever acted by a black person should have been celebrated good or bad, if in a movie you see a black man as a chauffeur that should be celebrated. Using Disney as an example there have been many black people in their movies, but they never have good or major roles if diversity was more important than seeing a black girl as a maid should have been enough for the black people everywhere, but it was not, we wanted to see blacks in a major role acting a good role. In my opinion this is why I feel like representation is better and more important than diversity.

  • You are right tidy_twilight.Another example of not being diverse enough is when world leaders were telling children to stay away from climate change and just let adults handle it. • I think marvel make less black people in thew films even in the civil war movie Chadwick was an avenger seeking revenge. Anyways without Africa no one would survive also women should be given the same rights as men. Like in acting men should not always get the main role . As history says in different eras tell us that women did not get equal rights like having babies at twelve and thirteen.

  • I agree Diversity is more important because people have been around ever since the 1960 and people have been battling for it ever since then. Most of the world cares and doesn't care how you look but diversity is a global topic that is more important than representation also how you look can change but your skin and your gender they both cant change so people judge you off of those facts and its wrong that's why I agree.
