Does AI cause more harm or good in the world?
This post was written by a student. It has not been fact checked or edited.

I believe that AI, at our current point in time, is doing more harm than good in our world. This is for a multitude of reasons- for example- how does AI affect our climate? This is something not many consider, especially due to the fact that AI is already becoming a common factor in many of our lives.
AI is a large contributor to climate change- but how exactly? Firstly, it is necessary to look at what exactly AI is. Many believe AI to be programmed and trained software, however, in reality, AI is much more than that. They need to operate on large-scale computers in data centres, particularly for larger-scale AI operations such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini. What must also be noted is that, in order to build a 2kg computer for these operations, 800 kg of raw material is required, including rare earth metals- most of which are mined in unsustainable and destructive ways. It is estimated that, by 2030, generative AI could produce up to 2.3 million tonnes of electronic waste per year, much of which contains hazardous substances such as lead and mercury which poses major health and environmental risks if not discarded properly.
Additionally, AI will also affect employment and jobs globally. In advanced economies, over 60% of jobs will be impacted by AI, with half of these jobs being impacted negatively. Tasks which are usually done by humans will be executed by AI, replacing those who already have the jobs. Not only will this affect the workers, who will no longer be able to properly work in such jobs, it will also lower labour demands, therefore reducing wages for workers as well as hiring. Moreover, income and wealth inequality will worsen, with workers who are able to harness AI in their jobs start working more productively and earning more, while those who are unable to fall behind.
Overall, while AI has many many advantages- such as tracking greenhouse gas emissions and air quality, as well as increasing the efficiency of the workforce, it is simply not sustainable enough to use for large scale operations that may do good, as the harm it causes outweighs that which is helpful. If, in the future, AI becomes more sustainable, it has the potential to be something that is used to help and complement the environment and workforce, however, currently that is not the case.

Hello, well in my opinion I really think that AI is harming and also beeing good for the world because: harmfull because is making people work less, think less, and if they need to do a project, they tell the AI to do it and it do it. And good for the world because some people use it in the rite way, only for searching information so it helps.
Do you think there may be more ways that AI could be used positively? Is it only a tool for helping to search for information or do you think it is able to used for more than that?
Well I don´t really think there are more ways that AI could be use positively but in my opinion AI is not only a tool for searching information, I also think it could be like a teacher if you need help learning something you don´t understand, AI is also good for the environment because it make people don´t waste to much paper, because you can rewrite the times you want the things you want. It can also be educational for people and make learned new, interesting thing you don´t know.
As we harness AI's transformative power, we face a choice: uplift humanity or entrench inequality. AI can heal diseases, harness renewable energy, and amplify empathy, creativity, and compassion. But it also risks job displacement, bias, and surveillance. The future is unwritten. Let's write it with wisdom, heart, and courage, shaping a world where AI enriches our shared humanity.
Can you explain where you sourced your information with regards to AI being able to heal diseases and amplify compassion?
In my own opinion AI is harming the world because when companies and industries use AI too much there might not be job for human beings, many human beings will be replace with AI because of their intelligence and when companies replace humans with AI, their will be no Jobs for people. AI will be the only ones working and people may not have enough money to feed their families, lastly we all know that AI will not stay long, so when companies and industries use AI, AI will one day malfunction because they are not sustainable and the economy will begin to drop.
How do you know that AI will malfunction? What safety measures do you think could be put into place to prevent this from happening?
Hello
AI is a powerful tool, and like any tool, it can be used for good or for harm. Think of it like a hammer you can build a house with it, or you can hurt someone. It depends on how you use it.
I Think whether AI does more harm or good depends on us. It depends on how we develop it, how we regulate it, and how we choose to use it. It's a technology that requires careful consideration and responsible development to ensure it benefits humanity as a whole.
In my opinion Ai is good and bad. Firstly, i want to make something clear that ai was made to assist humans in their day to day job not to entirely replace humanity as a whole.
Humanity has benifited from ai for years now but the enviroment is being effected(negatively) in the proccess. Ai helps us by completing tasks that would usually take alot of time in a matter of seconds or minutes it can solve a math problem or think of a solution for something but at the same time its making humans think less which can result to people getting less creative over time as they would depend on ai which also makes us unable to upgrade the ai. Because of the heavy requirements it needs to keep it stable which we take from the ground often carelessly while not realizing the harm. In the end result ai is both good and bad but how we use it is what decides if it is positive or negative.
in my opinion i think that Ai is harmful and also good for our planet it is harmful cause it consumes a lot of energy and the energy is from the burning of fossil fuels and the fossil fuels is helping in the global warming so it's harmful for our planet cause alot of people wasting time on Ai without realizing that to slove this issue we need to stop using Ai in useless things cause you are the one who will damage your planet if you didn't stop using it in useless things. on the other hand Ai has alot of positive things it helps us doing things easier like the machines and also Ai can be used in our phone for example "CHATGPT" it is an application who can give you alot of information about alot of things who mostly use it is the students they are using it for studying but here there is a negative point students may use it for cheating there homeworks and that is not good and also Ai can help the people with special needs to work on the phone and that is very helpful. to conclude we need to reduce the negative points and use the useful points.
Thanks and i hope you got my point.
I like that you consider both sides, overall do you think AI is more positive or negative?
actually i think we are the problem not Ai. Ai can be able to be always positive but we are always ruining that cause we are consuming alot of energy when we are using it and that is the problem we are using it in useless things that will not be useful for our planet so in my opinion Ai is good but we need to stop consuming it so that it can be always helpful
Thanks and i hope you got my point.
I agree because AI is great but sometimes, we are using it for no reason when we are bored. Most of the people do not know that they destroy the Earth by themselves.
Thank you.
Hello, my opinion really about the text is that you have to look at more than one point of view to get to get to get to concretize that something is right or wrong. Because by romanticizing, so to speak, so much of AI, which is like a help for both students and workers, it is also ruining on a grand scale
our nature and our planet because it emits and helps to create a lot of e-waste pollution on a large scale. I think this has a good use but everything should be in a regulated way.
How do you think AI should be regulated to possibly reduce any pollution that you feel it creates?
You have made some very good points here - where is your information sourced from?
Do you think AI may become a more positive tool in years to come like the internet did?
In my opinion i think AI is doing more good than harm though the way it is developed and used makes the difference. We should advocate for a responsible use of AI, all stakeholders like the engineers, developers, governments, companies and even the end users should all play a role to ensure that AI is used in a good and moral way. I believe inspite of the bad people see and talk about like job displacement, making people lazy, AI is reallyhelping a lot of people in different industries like in
1. In healthcare it helps in diagnosis, discovery of drugs,
2. it hselp scientists in research for example climate change and its management,
3. it can also help people with disabilities for example people who can't see it can help describe surroundings and read text aloud to them
4. AI can be very helpful in schools especially in creating learning materials based on the needs of the individuals.
5. in factories, it can help factory workers to be more productive and creative when it is programmed to do tasks that they have to keep repeating.
For me I feel a responsible use of AI is what we should be talking about. Thank you.
I love that you have found examples however for a lot of manual repetitive jobs such as finance entry, if AI replaces that job, where do these people go?
How would you deal with large amounts of displacement?
I agree with your reasoning on how A.I is actually doing more harm to the world than good; this concludes on many factors like how A.I's benefits aren't as high as the downgrades and the potential and already caused harm it could cost around the world. The number of emissions and electronic waste plays a big part on why A.I indefinitely outweighs the benefits; this is also backed up by other factors like how accessible A.I is to students and younger generations which can harmfully impact them in different ways if not used and taken responsibly especially within students that have multiple access sources to it. This is also proven by studies and surveys, researchers show that about 86% of students use A.I this outweighs the number of the students that don't and this adds up to electronic waste and emissions usage as well with the amount of students, young generations, and overall people who use A.I daily for their workforce, school life, or simply for information.
There is another point with the workforce using A.I you may have gone somewhere and the usage of A.I is heavily used this also impacts people who have worked hard to have their jobs but as studies show if the usage of A.I continues like this the workforce during 2030 will be impacted by A.I which isn't a good thing for any workforce community.
In conclusion I heavily agree with your reasoning on how the benefits from A.I aren't as large as the downgrades and multiple issues that are predicted to be seen within the years without the proper treatment soon, these factors show just how harmful A.I has come to be.
I like how you have considered the points, if you were president of your country, what would you do?
Would you heavily regulate AI? Would you ban it? I would love to hear your thoughts
If I were the president of my country I most likely wouldn't ban AI but definitely put many restrictions on it and heavily regulate it, I say this because even though yes, AI has many benefits the damage outweighs that immensely so I would probably restrict AI usage most of the time and instead offer out environmental safe knowledge instead of having people to use AI all of the time. Doing this will not only change the amount of emissions used but also restricting it to younger students and generations to keep them safe from the amount of dangers AI may cause to them in many different ways, and as the president I'd also like to stop AI taking over peoples job's order to help them keep their income and finances instead of being replaced by AI and not being able to correctly provide for their families. I overall would put heavy restrictions and regulate AI so that it would only need to be used if necessary and other than that I wouldn't allow access as rapid as our country has provided to society which in the future will cause most likely inevitable damage to many communities even outside the country.
In conclusion if I were to ever become president I would put many restrictions and regulate AI accordingly to keep society, communities, workforces, students, and everybody in general protected from the dangers AI may cause in the future without the proper treatment quickly and safely and instead I would give more environmental healthy resources for information rather than most of society being dependent on AI and the answers it provides.
I think AI is both harmful and useful for the world. For instance, cheating is a major issue with my class level with many people using AI to find answers or write essays, which in turn makes people lazy and slows down their brains (in the sense that they aren't using their minds to do their work) which reduces the accuracy of knowledge and the grade they receive. On the other hand, AI is becoming beneficial to many workforces that need assistance and are overloaded with work. For example, in healthcare, the use of AI is useful as it makes doing basic things such as taking blood pressure and the use of medical screenings like xrays or cat scans, which allows for more efficiency and find issues quicker.
I think AI is harmful, and many people are using it without understanding the impacts. One significant issue is job displacement, as AI are replacing humans in tasks in fields like jobs.Additionally, AI consumes a huge amount of electricity, contributing to more carbon emissions and pollution, which negatively affects the environment. The growing dependence on AI is also concerning. If AI centers were to shut down, it could have severe consequences for individuals who have continuesly using on these platforms daily.
Furthermore, AI can sometimes spread misinformation, and ai robots, lacking human emotions, may threat to humans in the future. In particular, the rise of AI-generated bad videos can have negative effects on individuals and society. While AI has its negative aspects, it also offers more benefits. For example, AI can assist doctors in advanced treatments and surgeries, monitor patients' health condition. and providing valuable insights about outer space and climate change. It can also save time in the workplace and reduce human stress. Ultimately, how we use AI matters greatly.
Good points, how would you ensure or motivate people so that we gain more from AI than it costs us?
In my head, I compare developments in AI to when fossil fuels became cheap in the early 20th century, and we are still seeing the effects now. I believe nations got hooked on cheap fossil fuels and became heavily reliant, and are still to this day, with them propping up global growth even though the science is now clear that they cause significant climate problems and are finite. This reliance means it is hard for politicians to regulate them as doing so will stifle economic growth and will cause citizens to be angry as the price of goods increases.
With AI, I fear it may be the same. We get hooked on the benefits of it and it becomes so cheap that it completely defines the next century and leads to mass societal changes where in 100 years time we may look back and regret them.
This is just my view, what do you think?
Hello!!
In my opinion I think AI is a very good thing for the world but like all things it has also some inconvenients
AI is good for the world because it helps the human with things which are difficult or to make faster a task for example if you have to make a summary of a text or create a text it Will do it in just few seconds
Some inconvenients of AI are that it reduces employment, reduces also creativiry and increases human laziness
In my opinion I believe AI is good and bad in many ways.
1. AI provides facts about anything you ask for. For example say you are doing your homework and you run into a question that you don't know how to answer, AI could give you information on how to solve the exact answer of the problem you need. Another example is say you are studying an animal for a project but you want more information about that specific animal AI could provide some facts about the animal.
2. AI could bring Harm because AI could have technical difficulties and leak important information. For example your talking to Gemini the AI "Friend" who you could tell your problems to or talk to as a friend, but then if you are always talking to AI then it could take away from being a social person and it could bring depression.
You say chatting to Gemini could 'bring depression' - can you make this claim for certain?
In my opinion, Artificial intelligence is useful and harmful at the same time. You use AI in different ways when you're a doctor and other jobs. You use it to check test results or search up the type's of medicine you need. You use AI in all types of different ways, but there are ways AI can be harmful. AI can malfunction or stop working causing doctors to not be able to access test results or know what medicine to give the patient. This is why I think AI is both useful and harmful at the same time.
I believe AI is becoming to powerful, especially the way that people are using it. People should use it for good causes because if they continue to use it the wrong way people could continue to lose certain jobs. According to "IBM 's article AI 's 10 dangers and how to manage them", people are using Ai in the wrong ways such as cybersecurity threats getting peoples data and finding personal information also people are hacking people and stealing peoples social security number and all of this hacking is causing accelerated hacking.
This is why I believe Ai is becoming to powerful.
What do you think can be done to prevent hacking?
Ai is a good and bad thing because when using Ai you get lazy and stop thinking. But when you use Ai you get things done quicker and more efficiently. Also with using Ai you don't waste time by doing extra things like writing, instead of writing you type like what I'm doing right now. In conclusion Ai is a good and bad thing.
The impact of AI is both negative and positive, It depends on how the AI was programed by the creator and implemented in certain situations. Even though there are multiple concerns about environmental sustainability and job availability, there are also opportunities for AI to address challenges and improve quality of life. To maximize benefits and mitigate the harms, It's very important the sustainability of AI development.
Ultimately, the balance of harm and good willow depend on efforts to address challenges and harness AI's potential responsibility.
How do you motivate business owners/CEOs to build sustainability into their AI products? Would this reduce their profit and if so what can be done?
For me, artificial intelligence has both positive and negative impacts, and its effect on the world depends on how it is used. It is true that AI uses large amounts of resources and energy, which contributes to climate change and electronic waste. Also, automation can affect jobs, replacing some workers and increasing inequality if changes in the job market are not managed properly. However, AI also has important benefits, such as improving efficiency in industries, helping in medical research, and fighting climate change by monitoring emissions and optimizing resources. Instead of rejecting it completely, it is important to develop regulations and more sustainable technologies that reduce its environmental and economic impact. The key is to balance its development with human and environmental well-being, ensuring that it is used in an ethical and responsible way.
In the dear future and in present time, AI can and will do more good than harm. Let us first address the bad and exactly how bad it really is. To make the hardware, collect data, refine algorithms, train AI, and then to deploy it costs big money. Not to mention that maintaining it would cost more, the extra AI systems you have. As a result, the amount of pollution would be tremendous. This ranges all the way from, mining materials, gas for vehicles, electricity, water, labour, plastic, and other materials I can't pronounce or forget to list. Also, AI is used for malicious purposes. Now let’s see why most of this can be counteracted by AI. According to Veritasium, “Over 6 decades, tens of thousands of biologists painstakingly worked out the structure of 150,000 proteins.” Compare that to “in just a few years, a team of around 15 determined the structure of 200,000,000.” Guess what they used? That’s right, AI. These proteins have directly helped produce a cure for Malaria. AI can also design entire new proteins from scratch. This is extremely important because of the fact that those proteins can do what you asked it to do; ranging all the way from human compatible antibodies, vaccines, fix methane, and even break down plastic. Therefore reversing all its damage done (at least to the Earth). That is why I believe Artificial Intelligence can and will do more good than harm.
I believe that AI is doing more harm than good. My reason for this claim is that although AI is very efficient in providing information and helping humans with certain problems, it is also harming our planet. The question we should be asking is, "Is AI causing more harm or more good in the world?" AI has been known to help with many things, but the effects it has are too much for the planet to handle. For example, it is estimated that by 2030, generative AI could produce up to 2.3 million tonnes of electronic waste per year, much of which contains hazardous substances such as lead and mercury. This poses major health and environmental risks if not used properly. Looking at this example, it shows that while AI is helping the planet with things like climate change, it is also one of the problems. In conclusion, although AI might seem helpful, people fail to realize the dangers it can pose.
I absolutely love that you are horizon scanning about future issues. Do you think we could become too reliant on AI? It is a hard balance as I can see that AI can bring incredible benefits to society such as healthcare treatment and helping us understand the impact of climate change more.
Hello, in my opinion I think AI is causing more good than harm because it is helping many people to reach their goals. And then, some of this people will be working on this area and make the AI more sustainable. But without the AI, everything will be much slower.
But I also thik AI is harming a lot as it contaminates. But I think in few years this will change.
AI is actually harmful, in fact, omnipresent, and my belief is that it is the source of more harm than good. The environment is the first frontier that takes damage from AI utilization because the big computers consume more electrical energy and produce more polluted garbage. By 2030, AI could generate as much as 2.3 million tons of waste that includes hazardous materials like lead! AI also takes jobs from the population contributing to their struggle to make a living. A few employees will do more efficiently by using AI, still, many will lose the jobs they have. Even though we can use AI for good purposes like checking pollution, it still increases more damage. I suggest we should be prudent until the time it is secure. At the moment, AI is managing to do more harm than good.
Oh wow, this is like opening a big box of toys, but some of the toys are broken! I totally understand what you’re saying. AI is like that super cool robot friend who can do awesome stuff, like helping us with work or even saving the environment, but it’s also kinda messy, like spilling paint all over the floor.
You’re right about AI and the planet! It’s like AI is eating up all the electricity and making the world feel tired, like running a race without stopping. These big computers need loads of energy, and sometimes, that’s not so good for the planet. It’s like trying to water a plant with soda instead of water—just makes things worse! And all that e-waste? It’s like throwing away your toys without even saying goodbye. What a waste!
And about jobs, oh boy, AI is taking them faster than a cheetah running after a rabbit! People who don’t know how to use AI are getting left behind like the last kid picked for a team. That’s just not fair! It’s like everyone’s getting a turn at the candy bowl, but the people who don’t know the rules aren’t getting any candy at all!
So yeah, AI is like a magic wand that could be super helpful, but right now, it’s like a messy magic trick that needs some cleaning up. Maybe one day it’ll help us more without hurting the planet or jobs, but right now, it’s like a big toy that we don’t really know how to play with properly.
Do you think we’ll ever figure out how to make AI good for everyone?
Interesting comment, I love your use of analogies, I think that we need some regulation in place at a global level, maybe at the UN. However the problem is how do you get countries to agree on regulation when some countries have more to gain than others. Maybe AI could even help us with this!
Does AI do more harm or good in the world? This has been a very common question asked since AI has been created. As AI has been evolving and developing it has been both causing harm and good in the world. AI has been good at helping people by providing learning tools that can help students, scientists, doctors and many others in their academic or work field. On the other hand AI has been causing harm by making people become more dependent on it, and instead of trying just looking stuff up, but also causing harm in the environment. Like causing electrical waste, and using gallons of water to use help in the factory to decrease overheating issues. Speaking of factories AI factories have increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere by a lot. Therefore AI can be used for good but can also harm the Earth and the people in it.
Hello👋
I think that AI is equal with harm and good.It is hard to tell if AI is more good or more harmful because of all the things that AI do that is good and bad.AI does help important people such as doctors, scientist, and parents, but AI has some other things that can mess the world up like people spending money to get stuff online . If AI fails shoppers will stay home and will get to lazy and than they cant change it back with AI because AI is gone. another thing is that I think that AI effecting humanity and taking space up that was for humans and slow down the population of humans and some AI we don't have control of.AI helps plan for the future also.
In my opinion I think AI causes more harm in the world than good. AI could help with recipes or calendars but I think AI puts carbon dioxide and electrical waste in our world. and that could harm animals and cause a lot of harm. And It also takes a lot of water to cool data centers down because they get heated when people are using a lot of electricity. So I think AI causes more harm and is not yet sustainable.
Artificial intelligence saving time and efforts . But sometimes he taking the places of the humans and this is not good to our mind . And also students today is a cheating from AI or artificial intelligence like Google Gemini ChatGPT and meta ai . And also it cause in our mind like cancer and the lot of the diseases
Thank you for reading 😊 .
AI causes more harm in the world than good in the world. AI is really irrelevant to a certain extent. Not all people should be allowed to use AI, most can't even manage it. Once you use AI, you wont be able to stop. It's like an addiction once you get it to it. People wouldn't even know simple knowledge because people lean so much on AI. It's such a huge impact on the world that it's going to turn out bad if people do not use it right.
Personally, weighing out the pros and cons of Ai, I believe Ai is more good than bad. This is as Ai helps us as a human race to enhance our creation and abilities. This betters the workforce and helps research regarding medicine and other aspects. Ai allows us to do what we may have thought wasn’t possible and to be honest, there’s no saying how much we can do if Ai continues to grow.
Ai can also be used for education which will help students around the world and improve learning hence more people being able to read and write so the literacy rate increasing as a result. Errors are also minimised and the chance of production errors is reduced saving companies around the world a lot of money.
There are many cons regarding Ai and the way it may impact us as a society in a negative way. One being the potential loss of human employees and jobs, this is extremely important as if Ai is becoming more complex and advanced, people may lack the skills and knowledge needed for certain fields of work. People will then be unable to provide for their families and life as a whole will be miserable and disrupted. Another issue is the spreading of fake news due to the ability of misuse. Fake news can affect people in many horrible ways and can deter an individual’s identity and reputation altogether.
I strongly believe what we need to remember is that whilst Ai is a great thing, there are some dangers to this and we shouldn’t turn a blind eye. However, if made sustainable enough then Ai will no undoubtedly be one of the greatest inventions created.
While, your comment does make sense, when talking about it might not be sustainable in this time, its pretty much needed to advance in that area (AI and related), I suggest, you look at it from a different perspective, more of an opportunity in technological advances.
Nevertheless, its disadvantages are clear, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that the servers (where most of the AI logistics are hosted) are very worrying, hence, the suggestion of an possible regulation to the way this AI resources are used or executed.
Personally, I think that, AI, will be more useful than it already is in this time, that while it may have certain repercussions in a long run of things, its something very needed for us, as humans, to advance in technology.
I believe AI causes more harm in the world than good. While it can be used to create things beyond human creativity, it can also be used for false news, misleading information and incorrect information. This can cause panic and distress for members of the public. For example, a few years ago, an AI video ofthe Eiffel tower burning to the ground was posted to TikTok, and promptly went viral. The effect of this caused panic for the residents of Paris, who were extremely scared that innocnt people could be harmed, and the landmark that they had for over 100 years could be gone. This shows the effect that Ai has and how it negatively affects everyone, and how it can cause unrest and distress in the future.
In my opinion, AI is good for the world because it can help make lots of jobs easier and faster (if it is used in the right way). Some people would argue that it causes people to rely on AI and work less but I would disagree as technology has been constantly developing for a while now since in the 20th century, they didn't have a lot of technology we have now that couldve help them in many ways. My point is that there's nothing wrong with using new technology to make life easier. However, I do think that it is only good to an extent- past that, it can be harmful. This is because people (usually in power) might use the realisticness to their advantage which could easily spread false news and propaganda. Overall, I believe that AI can be good and beneficial to the world but the use of it should be limited.
I think AI harms the world because it leads to addiction, restricting the humans to access their brain. This critically harms humans by capturing and replacing the human's thinking. Not only cause the human brain, AI also replaces the role of humans in job and opportunities, in the form of automate jobs. And from this, more people have less opportunities and is a financial burden to the family, and if this continues, the family will go to the poverty line. Also, the economy of the country might be decreased because of less people earning. According to my point of view,
That's an interesting point of view, frank_blueberry. What do you mean when you say AI leads to addiction?
Yeah!
I mean AI is addicting humans by bringing the stong mindset in people's brain, that AI is there to do all the works, so why I want to waste my time, by thinking. AI can analyse the complete data and questions, and it will give solutions for general issue to great global issue. AI is addicting the students more, because it help to solve great mathematical problems, tough science theories and formulas, and in some of the innovative projects. AI is only to help humans, not to addict them, and make them completely depend on AI...
From my point of view, AI constantly contradicts its positives and negatives. With its pleasant features, it can save lives and induce breakthroughs in the medical world. Another world-changing use is helping rangers use their drones to detect dangers (such as logging and poaching) in the forest. Despite this, the dark side of AI still shows its lack of sustainability. In the not-so distant future, we will become more reliable on AI, every career working hand-in-hand with it. This much AI in the industry will eventually take colossal toll on our world, in the end, showing its eventual negative impact on us, therefore showing the harm it can cause.
I believe AI is performing both roles perfectly, as it brings equal benefits and drawbacks. On the positive side, AI is helping humans in great ways. It provides valuable information about society, assists scientists in detecting dangerous viruses and disasters, and helps people manage their time and tasks. AI serves as an extradinary platform for students' learning, and it will continue to be even more beneficial for them in the future.
However, there are also more negative aspects. For example, AI can spread misinformation, and people may use AI tools to create harmful content. The operation of AI centers contributes to carbon emissions, which negatively impacts the environment. Another concern is the addiction to AI. As people rely on AI for work, they become dependent on it. If AI were to be shut down one day, it could have a negative effect to the individuals.
AI is performing both beneficial and harmful roles. The creators of AI should focus on reducing its harmful impact to ensure AI can continue to be useful and sustainable in the future.
From my own point AI is harmful to the world because if it comes to environment, there is a negative side to their explosion of AI and it's infrastructure. The Data Centers that house AI servers produce electronic waste. They are large consumers of water, which is becoming scarce in many places.
Another thing to worry about is that AI makes students lazy because when teachers give students homework students won't use their heads, instead they will use AI.
In my opinion, AI is causing more damage than benefit. It is true the fact that it helps in our daily lives, but using AI is more harmful than we think. Yes, it causes pollution and consumes lots of energy to give an answer, but furthermore than causing environmental pollution, artificial intelligence reduces natural intelligence. We get used to using it and quickly having an answer, to the point we loose the ability to learn by ourselves.
From my point of view, a really good choice for AI to be benefitial to us is by restricting its use to doctors, scientists, etc. that by using it are going to create a common benefit and not a personal benefit. That way we save our natural intelligence and avoid most of the pollution and environmental damage it causes (and we also need to think about future generations, and the planet we are leaving them; if we want to give them a balanced and natural planet, or one that is about to get completely destroyed and uninhabitable).
I think AI is causing more good to the world because it’s really very beneficial invention. For example in US (acc to my research) wild or say forest fires was causing a lot of harm to flora ,fauna and tribes at one point but experts used satellite imagery and algorithms to detect fires and AI could do it 2-3 days more earlier than traditional methods.
Also in Singapore Intelligent transport system (ITS ) used AI to analyse transport patterns and maximum traffic areas and timings because of which traffic congestion was decreased by 10-15%.
There are many such examples where ai led to improvements which prove that ai is beneficial and more towards good side .
I think that A.I, would do more good than harm because, A.I, is used in many ways like checking the weather, spotting crimes, keeping money safe, etc. Also, ChatGPT is a good example because it responds with the real/honest answer possible. In paragraph 2 it states "By 2030 A.I, could produce up to 2.3 million tonnes of electric waste per year". A.I, is a very powerful tool and can be used in good ways and in bad ways. For example in a good way, if you are a doctor you would need to find the right medicine to give to the patient. In a bad way if you are a robber you could use A.I to find the location or unlock a code. A.I is also usefully, for example, if you are too tired to clean your A.I cleaner would just clean it up. In conclusion I think that A.I is a good and bad thing.
