For the chance to have your opinion in a Topical Talk lesson…
...answer one of the following questions:
- Are gender stereotypes a problem in your country? For example, do people unfairly think that men and women should have particular roles or jobs?
- Do mothers face any unfair treatment in your country? For example, is it hard for them to work? Or does motherhood affect what money they can earn?
- Are there some industries in your country that you’re less likely to see women working in? For example, because jobs are more likely to be offered to men? Or because people wrongly believe that women can’t do the job?
- Have any systems or products been designed for men, which makes it difficult for women to use them? For example, in London, many of the steps around the city were designed for the length of men’s legs.
We will choose one comment for each question to appear in the lesson. Your comment is more likely to be chosen if it is clear, to the point and about your country.

Yes, gender stereotypes are a huge problem in India many towns limit girl's education and push them towards traditionally feminine careers like housewives, maids, restaurant waiters and much more. they also discourage them from pursuing leadership roles. In India the custody of all children below the age of five is awarded to the mother but in rural areas they are still biased towards their daughter. In India industries like construction and mining often have a very low number of women because of issues like physical demanding work and safety concerns. In India candies like kinder joys are divided into blue for boys and pink for girls. Thank you!
That is so sad I don t think candies should be divided by colour schemes for each gender not all girls like pink and they should open to other colours, and should be equally recognised as much as men in education and careers.
.
I agree because, for example my favorite colour it is blue, and no one should care, bully me or something if i like it. Everyone has to be able to think with freely about the choices that they want to do and what they like, and we do not have to care of what is better qualify for each gender.
I agree because everyone in my class always think that some colours are for boys and some are for girls for example blue is for the boys and pink is for the girls that's not true at all.All boys and girl have a voice to decide what their favourite colours are is whether it's a boy colour or a girl colour . My favourite colours are pink and blue I don't care if someone says blue is a boy colour because it's my decision and opinion .
I agree because the colors can not be like blue is for men and pink is for women. What if some women like green or blue so colors should not be divided
That is so depressing. I think that boys or girls should be able to choose what colours they prefer. Some boys like pink and some girls like blue so everyone should be equally recognised and accepted for who they are. Your comment was really good!!
I Think it is a horrible thing that colours are separated depending on their gender because sometimes girls might not like pink and some boys won't like blue. Blue and pink food is not fair and also being a housewife might get really boring , boys should not be able to have fun whilst girls have to work
I agree, gender stereotypes is a great issue in India. There are countless jobs and professions that women are expected not to do. Like for example, mainly in India,it is considered surprising that a women is a pilot or even aronotical engineer.Men have typically been expected to be the earners, decision-makers, and protectors of the family, while women have been pressurised to the roles of caregivers, homemakers, and obedient wives. In fact, from childhood it is taught that boys are strong and girls are week, boys can do anything and girls are not capable of doing anything.
I feel really bad about these gender stereotypes in our country - India.
Do you look at any other countries and think they may have got a better balance on gender stereotypes? How do you think they show this?
Yes, several countries, like Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, are widely considered to have a significantly better balance on gender stereotypes balance than India. I think they show this through policies promoting equal access to education and employment, and a strong cultural emphasis on gender equality in all aspects of life. I really appreciate it and wish India also becomes a country like these soon enough.
Yes, other countries like Ireland, Switzerland, Denmark, and Norway have been considered some of the most gender-equal countries compared to places like Central Africa, India, and Pakistan which receive a lot more gender inequality compared to others. This means that in some places like Central Africa, it may not even be safe for young women to walk around alone on the streets because they may be targeted by robbers as they are deemed weak and helpless.
Interesting ideas. Can you tell us where you got your information from?
Sometimes I read about problems in the world including gender inequality and it intriguing to read about these things.
I usually watch newsround
I agree because... Bangladesh people also similar to Indian people because Bangladesh people can see this type of thing in sports equipment, where guns, cars, Superman etc are for boys and dolls, decorative toys, pens-pots etc. are for girls. in the workplace girls are responsible for indoor chores and boys contribute to outdoor chores. In addition,,, in terms of professions, boys are allocated engineering, business and medicine, while girls are allocated nursing and teaching. in terms of property women don't receive property even though they are the beneficiaries of that property..
...Thank you...
I agree with you. Gender sterotype is also a big issue in some parts of my country where women are considered to be inferior to men and in certain gatherings are not allowed to speak when in the midst of men, it is often said that women should be seen and not heard. The number of women in politics is generally low, according to an article published by Carnegie Endowment for Internatioal Peace, women made up only 10 percent of over 15,000 candidates in the 2023 election cycles. Men are often seen as the stronger one and so should go out and fend for the families as a result they are labelled the breadwinners while the women are supposed to sit at home, do the cleaning, cook and take care of the children and the entire family. In some parts of my country the girl child is denied education, some even say what is the use of educating the girl child if she will bear her husband's name when she get married. I strongly believe that women should be given more opportunities.
I agree because I think that gender stereotypes are really bad everywhere. We should not judge people because of their gender. We shouldn't do this because it might hurt people's feelings. One example: girls being treated differently. In many schools, girls get bullied more often because people think they're "weak" or "won't do anything about it ".
I agree. Gender stereotypes seem stupid to me and they are a pretty huge lately. The more I look, I see that women are pushed away from different jobs or some things are divided, like you said. I've seen it more in my grandparents, when they push my brother from things like my sister's dolls or push my sister away from buying more tomboy-like clothes. I don't feel like this is fair at all, since they are children and all. I've also seen more women working in jobs like being servers or in bakeries or cafes, rather than in construction or an office or things of that sort.
"I totally get what you mean. It’s frustrating to see these stereotypes still being pushed, especially on kids who are just figuring out what they like. It really shouldn’t matter if a boy wants to play with dolls or a girl wants to dress more tomboyish—at the end of the day, they should just be able to enjoy what makes them happy. And yeah, certain jobs definitely still feel divided by gender. It would be nice if people were just encouraged to do what they’re good at instead of being boxed in by outdated ideas."
Yes, every motherhood face in her life. She has many family responsibilities and in her working place. She may have mental pressure and physical abuse in working place. She may face disrespect during her pregnancy and childbirth. She may be careless in her health too.
Yes, gender stereotypes are a huge problems. Some Industries, you are less likely to see women driving a lorry or being a farmer. I think this is because some people believe that these are hard manly jobs made for men. For example women are seen too pretty to drive a tractor and getting their hands dirty. But in many places this is true in school and some societys people push girls to do a traditionally feminine careers like , maids, housewives, restaurant waiters and much more.
Can you tell me why you believe society deems careers like maids, housewives, and waitresses more feminine?
These are part of the sterotypes and i believe society deems careers like maids, housewives and waitresses more feminine because traditionally it like it has always been like that. Like in my country, traditionally women are assigned the domestic roles and the care giving duties. Men work on the farms, they do the clearing, planting, digging etc it is believed that men are stronger so they have to do these tasks while sometimes people look at the make up of a woman and say she has a motherly instinct which makes them push such roles to her but i have to say that these roles are not only for women, men can also take up these roles. One other thing when you watch movies or read stories women are mostly given these roles so i would say the media has contributed to the way the society sees women.
i don't understand why those sort of jobs are mainly counted for women i mean men could be equally good at that stuff. i think women can absolutely be as good if not better than men at all jobs.
i am not saying men aren't good at things but i think it doesn't make sense that they discriminate women at least that's my opinion .
Stereotypes like these just catch on, when one person decides to believe that maids, housewives, and waitresses are feminine jobs other people decide to believe that too, and then everyone starts to believe it but really these are jobs that anyone can do female or male. Men are allowed to do basically any job they like without dealing with others thinking that it is weird for a man to do that job because most jobs are made to reach men's expectations while whenever a woman decides that they want to do a 'man's job' everyone thinks that that is weird when really there is no such thing as a 'man's job'.
I am going to answer number 1. In Britain, I think people experience less gender inequality because I think that England is a relatively progressive country but that doesn't mean at all that there isn't any. Some examples of gender inequality in my country are regarding things like clothing, money in work and the data gap. Clothing for example seems to be more designed these days, for women, to be more provocative in my opinion. When it comes to pay, it is common knowledge that pay is higher for men than women generally and, unfortunately, Britain doesn't pass that stereotype. In Britain, statistic show that there is an 11.3% pay gap between men and women, favouring men. Lastly, the data gap is to do with the data system being more geared towards men. For example, it is proven that, after a heart attack, women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed. This is what I could tell you today about sexism and gender inequality in my country.
I agree with most of what you say.
Although Britain is a relatively progressive country, gender inequality has not yet been completely eliminated. The three main areas you have highlighted (1.clothing 2.pay inequality 3.information gap) are consistent with reality. Although Britain is a progressive country, the imprint of gender inequality still remains. The pay gap attitude towards clothing and the gender gap in medical research still exist. So, I agree with your statement that gender inequality has not yet been completely eliminated and it exists in various areas.
What other steps do you think can be taken to reduce this inequality in Britain ❓
.....thank you......
Yeah, the gender stereotypes in our country ,India are great issue which is always on fire. Comparing to mens, women are getting less job and employment opportunities. If they give importance in the field of employments for women, it is very helpful for each and every women to succeed in their life, and also a woman can contribute money to run their family so that, the economy of the country increases , there stands the great women empowerment. Also womens are getting into trouble because of improper education . Many families restrict women's education and force them to do Household works and making them like a locked bird in the cage. They are pushing even smalls girls to wash vessels in 4 walls and sending them to work in super markets, tea shops and more, and this actually leads to child labouring which will bring a great impact on the society. Womens are not to wash vessels, they are to change this world by proving their skills and succeed in their life and become empowered. Each and every women must unlock their potential and prove the society, with their outstanding skills and knowledge. Let us encourage women and step on to a bright , shining future where women stands as a beacon of empowerment.
Thank you.
yes, still in India at several industrial places, women's are less likely to see working. Because they believed that women can't do their work efficiently and can't bear the heat from the industries, especially at glass, iron, steel, coal mines, welding works, etc ... industries. There are still few places in India that women's are not allowed to work outside, because lack of insecure and safety.
Hello,
I do not think that gender stereotyping in England is that big of a problem like it is in other countries. I do think though that some jobs such as:
Builder,
Policeman,
Soldier,
Sporting coach,
Are more likely not to be given to Women as these jobs are advertised more for men and are less labour enduring, which is why more ‘womanly’ jobs are dished out to girls that don’t ’look’ strong. Yes, it is scientifically proven that men are stronger than women because of the way girl’s internal organs and the way their bodies work and do things. Men are also labeled the ‘leaders’ of the family who do all of the hard work, like fixing broken items and taking care of their wives who are expected to teach the children, cook, clean, wash, work, prepare and dry clothes for everyone in the family. This leaves them tired at the end of the day, unprepared for the cycle of the same thing the next day.
I deeply feel for all of the women and girls in other countries that do not have the education and support to be writing about the problems of gender inequality and stereotypes in their home country. It makes me feel extremely privileged.

Yes. Gender Stereotypes are an issue in my country because... most systems in Nigeria are bias for example:
1. Carpenters- In my country I see more of men doing and studying carpentry.
2. Bus Drivers- In my locality were people use commercial or transport buses more, mostly men drive commercial buses.
3. Mechanics- I have seen mostly men fixing vehicles I hardly see a woman fixing a car even in the home.
This is a big issue because people have stereotyped jobs and only few women are see in the jobs. Women are supposed to have the same jobs with but most tribes/tradition say women should not go to work at home(Take care of the children).
Most of the jobs that women are seen doing are Hairdressers, school teachers, Secretary, Nurse, Babysitter etc.
Gender stereo are more common in the villages, girls in the villages do not have access to education only king's or chief's daughter.
What do you think can be done to challenge these gender stereotypes?
1) Sensitization- Educating people that ability does not depend on gender. I have seen men do well in hairdressing, dressmaking etc too
2) Patronize the few women involved in some of these men dominated jobs.
3) Encouraging girl child education, government can provide free education in the villages.
4) Publicize women in these men dominated careers
I think that if we look around we can find gender stereotypes and inequalities everywhere. From job acceptances and salaries even to products. In my coutry, Greece, this phenomenon is not that massive, but it does exist as it does in other countries. For instance, when it comes to job positions, a good example is the STEM related jobs. It is commonly believed that men are better in math, technology and engineering but in reality there is not such difference. Another sutiation that is considered a "minus" for a woman is motherood. They think that if a woman is pregnant she can not provide that good services, as she is not physically and mentally qualified to (and if they do hire her, her sallary will be really low). Another example as it comes to my country is about driving. More specifiaclly, when an accident happens, the majority of people would almost always assume that it was a woman driver that caused it.
I believe that a major solution to this problem is raising awarness of it in schools, because this is the age during which young children form their personality, beliefs and character,
Do you think there may be others ways that gender stereotypes can be overcome ? Maybe in the workplace?
Yes, there are other ways to fight against gender stereotypes. A good way is equal opportunities when it comes to hiring, which means hiring the most suitable one for a position and not the "man". Another good practice can be for the managers and leaders to actively address these challenges so that other below them in the hierarchy will follow the example and do the same. Lastly, the environment of the workplace should foster collaboration and teamwork, valuing skills and contribution, regradless of the gender of the emploees.
In London, many people think men can do the job and women can't because of gender bias. While some argue that men and women should play equal roles, others believe that their roles are vastly different. The truth is, both sexes have important an unique contributions to make in society, and it is up to society to create an environment that shares those contributions.
Regarding the third question, In the US we have women in a couple positions but if you were to look at construction right now there are more men than women. If you go down the street and see a construction site there are men and almost now women which I believe is unfair because women should have a chance to be accepted into any career they want.
Interesting thoughts - do you think this could relate to the physical differences between men and women?
Yes, stereotypes in India is a major problem. Every child is born with some talent that helps in progress of their country. But I'd they don't receive any chane to showcase their talent then what's the use? Is it because he is a son whole she is a daughter? Is a bad omen to have a daughter? This is what stereotypes are. They are a blockage for daughters to became a successful women. While in urban areas women are capable of doing everything from balancing work to balancing home. In rural areas there are still some men or family members that are not in favour to teach their daughter and they are determined to teach her household chores and marry off early. There is no enough awareness about it. One more point, there is also no guaranteed safety for women as judiciary takes much time to solve a case hence if there could be any action against it....this is what I think.
THANK YOU
How do you think more awareness can be spread on this topic?
The United States claims that everyone shall be treated equally here, however, mothers, more often than not, face unfair treatment in my country. This makes it harder for them to work and it even affects their salary. When someone becomes a mother they gain a whole new set of responsibilities, for example, picking up their child from school or daycare. Thus, their work schedule changes as well as their lives. Here in the U.S. mothers are often seen as "less hard working" because of this, so they get denied many promotions. They even get payed less compared with other women who have no children. These are just a few inequalities mothers face. Besides these, they're often laid off when they're on parental leave, have less recommended jobs, and face biased treatment in their workplace. What brings me more sorrow is that this degrading of mothers often goes unspoken of, the U.S. always talks about equality between its citizens but these unspoken secrets, although subtle, make a big and harmful difference. Women, ESPECIALLY mothers, should be treated with respect, kindness, and empathy the same way that men are. A person should not be judged or treated differently by their gender but rather their character and morality.
I agree because... definitely general in quality is a big problem in the current context of Bangladesh like other countries. above all these inequality in all areas is an example that not only affects the life of the individual but also hinders the socio-economic development of a country as a whole. This problem has existed for a long time in a developing countries like Bangladesh. The main reasons for inequality between women and men in Bangladesh include:
•social customs
•religious misinterpretation
•poverty
•education deficit
•even problems like violence against women, sexual harassment and child marriage in Bangladesh are considered as one of the examples of gender inequality.
thank you
These are very good comments . How do you think your country could start to try and overcome some of the issues you have stated?
To eliminate gender inequality in Bangladesh, a concerted effort must be made at the Social Organization and individual levels. I think the following steps can be taken about that issues–––
1.Expanding and improving education——
•Making higher education accessible to girls.
•Increasing scholarships and incentives to prevent girls from dropping out of school due to poverty
2.Ensuring the effectiveness of the law:
• Strictly implementing the child marriage prevention Act.
•Swift and effective punishment measures against sexual harassment and violence against women.
3.Women's economic empowerment :
• Easy credit facilities and training for women entrepreneurs. (Dr. Yunus's Microcredit Idea provides this benefits to women)
•Ensure equal wages for men and women in the workplace.
• Spreading the idea of women's dignity through mass media and social campaigns.
I believe that if we can bring about changes at the government, society and individual levels, Bangladesh will be able to overcome problems like gender inequality step by step....
......thank you......
Yes , in India some industries like construction , mining and heavy machinery are very less likely to have women as workers. Many people , in India believe that these jobs are too physically demanding for women , and that they are not suitable for doing physical work. This is an unfair stereotype because , women are capable of doing work in any industry , if they are giving proper training and equal opportunities. For example Kalpana Chawala , a famous astronaut have proved these beliefs wrong. To encourage more and more women to join male dominant industries , the workplace should provide, safety, proper facilities and equal pay . When the society supports women , it not only creates equality but also helps the country to grow by using the talent and skills of everyone, male and female.
Great comment!
In many countries including mine, Mothers face challenges that makes it very hard for them to balance their work and family. In many work places Jobs do not offer sufficient support like high working hours and Insufficient holidays. This problem makes some mothers to quit their job or taking less demand roles. Many people belive that mothers couldn't give their best in work due to family responsibilities. This unfair treatment affects their growth. Society also put extra pressure on mothers by judging them for their choices. If mother works, Society says that she is
I agree because in my country too mothers face challenges at home that affect their jobs. when a mother gives birth, she does not have enough time to stay at home to heal before resuming work and that affects her work, some organisation would not like to employ a breast feeding mother because they think she cannot perform well and that can affect a mother psychologically. These unfair treatment can lead to low self- esteem.
In many countries, mothers face several challenges and unfair treatment. Workplaces often fail to provide flexible hours or proper maternity leave, which makes it difficult for mothers to balance their jobs and family responsibilities. As a result, many mothers are forced to leave their jobs or take positions with fewer opportunities for growth. They are also paid less because employers assume they cannot give full attention to their work due to their family duties. This limits their chances for promotions and affects their confidence and financial independence.
Society also adds to their struggles. If a mother works, people often criticize her for not spending enough time with her children. On the other hand, if she stays at home, they judge her for not contributing financially. This double standard creates stress and limits mothers’ freedom to choose what is best for them. To address this, workplaces should provide better support, like paid maternity leave, flexible working hours, and equal pay. Society should also stop judging mothers unfairly and respect their choices. Recognizing their efforts at home and work will allow mothers to feel confident and contribute more to their families and society.
Yes.In our country mothers are facing problems in motherhood because of working place and hours.Their children are not taken care properly.Every mother faces many pressure from society, workplace and family. She needs to complete her households and take her career forward. She has many responsibilities and the hard work she puts makes us proud. She does everything for our welfare but as a child I feel sad for not spending time with me.After realising that she'll feel bad about me I want to ask sorry to her for not understanding her.I want her person in family to share every mother's burden and help her to get more achievement in their career.
Yes,I think gender stereotype is a major problem in my country,India.A lot of women are not able to study as people think their role is only to cook and clean. There was a superstition in India long ago that"if a woman learns to read and write she will become a widow. In older times even today, many women are burned on the funeral of the husband. If she doesn't die she has to wear white, eat bland food etc. Many jobs that require manual work severe understanding are usually given men.Ex-if we ask anyone they will name tens of men players but stumble to name even 1 woman cricket player. Most of the entrepreneurs or people with high paying jobs we see are men and the household workers are women.People think women cannot educate, earn or be brave, yet at Basant Panchami, Durga pooja or Diwali we pray to the deity of education-Sarasvati,money-Lakshmi and bravery-kali who are a women themselves. Not just India this is problem is faced in many countries like Afghanistan, Congo, Syria etc.People stereotype that the jobs like mechanic, sports person, engineer etc. should be given to men whereas the jobs like maid, teacher, nurses are given to women. In my 12 years of education I have never gotten a male teacher. Still the principal or vice-principal of my school are males.People think women are not capable enough but it is not true (Marie curie,Rosa parks,Hypatia etc.).If we do not give women equal opportunities we will never know their true potential. We should always consider women as equals and give them equal opportunities.Afterall we never know if a women builds a time machine one day!
To me, I feel that gender stereotype is a problem because there are certain jobs that are perceived to belong to a specific gender. For example jobs like Doctors, Engineering, Lawyer, Architecture, Accounting are assumed to be for the male gender while jobs like Nursing, Teaching, Catering, Care givers, Hairdressing and Tailoring are also assumed to be for the female gender. Hence, this belief that if a man takes a job meant for a woman, the society looks down on him or makes him feel less of a man and when a woman takes a job meant for a man, the society frowns at it and feels she shouldn't be doing such job as a woman.
Thank you!!!
Good point, do you have any ideas on how we can decrease our association of certain jobs with gender stereotypes?
We can decrease our association of certain jobs with gender sterotypes by advocating for gender equality and by doing that most people will get their freedom in their different workplaces and this can be done by educating and creating awareness about gender sterotypes, promote campaigns, let our media house help spread the news and most importantly get parents involved. Do you know in some parts of my country some parents still view certain jobs as jobs for men and certain jobs as jobs for women. We can organise trainings where we bring parents to see career options available for girls and even get these girls to attend similar trainings, this will help increase the chances of women and girls going into such jobs that they say are ment for men. When we empower women and girls, our society become better.
I could hardly say that gender stereotypes in Greece consist a grasping problem. Though they do exist, they are mostly present in the form of remenants of old traditions. For instance, rarely do couples share the load of housework: it is still usually the woman who mostly takes care of the house, and the chldren, if there are any. Therefore, the idea of women still being taken rather for granted as housewives is present, though there are some voices of opposition, who demand equality. In fact, a significant number of women still opt for giving up their jobs, once they give birth to their child, and dedicate themselves to family life, for the most part. however, it is important to note that women, nowadays, usually opt for this kind of lifestyle out of option and not social or family pressure. What is more, though all job fields are supposed to be accessible to women and men equally, more scientific and practical fields, such as mathematics, physics, or technology, men consist the majority. Girls themselves seem to regard these subjects as unappealing to them, almost naturally, and prefer linguistic and philosophical sciences, such as ancient greek, latin, or history. Of course, fields which require great physical strength, such as building, also contain a limited amount of women workers. Admittedly, efforts for the maximum reduction of gender stereotypes and discrimination are being intensified, and therefore the already mproved situation concerning this matter is bound to be ameliorated even further.
Please make sure your whole comment is written entirely in your own words. We want to hear your opinions and not ideas that have been copied from elsewhere!
"Do mothers face any unfair treatment in your country?"
Well yes!
I know you might be surprised but that is exactly what India is experiencing in various places {mostly villages} and different professions {like pilots}, many people in villages and other places have a stereotype thinking in their minds about women, some of them are:
1. A woman is not allowed to roam outside after 8
2. A mother is held responsible for gender of their baby which is truly incorrect
3. Many women are often found being abused, violated and harassed.
4. Mothers are yet, help responsible for their child's misbehavior
5. Mothers are expected to leave their goals and ambitions to take care of the child
6. Women working informal jobs (like sewing) barely get any healthcare, financial or mental support or a maternity leave after or during pregnancy.
These above, are just mere examples, there is a lot of mothers and women face not only in India but all over the world.
But, fair enough, India's government is taking steps towards these, they are being informed immediately if any injustice is done to a woman, woman entrepreneurs make sure that every woman gets her leave. There are campaigns being held for woman awareness, and a lot more.
And I believe that soon India will be a country which will forever be the safest country for women, girls and every mother.
THANK YOU!
Yes, mothers face unfair treatment in my country. For instance, in some parts of Northern Nigeria mothers are not allowed to work because it is believed that the mother's job is to clean the house, do the laundry, do the dishes, cook, and take care of the children.
Also, in some parts of Eastern Nigeria, if a woman's husband dies, the woman is being accused of killing him and for her to prove her innocence, she is forced to go through bad traditional practices. But it is not the case if it is the woman that dies. This is sad and I feel it should not be like that.
Yes, gender stereotype is a major problem here in Nigeria. Stereotypes are like opinions or things that are not true and that is how it is here in Nigeria. Here are some of the stereotypes i know in Nigeria:
>People think that women's place is in the kitchen cooking for their children and husbands while the men should be in the parlor watching television.
> They also think that women should do all the house chores and take care of the children while men should be the ones to bring money to the house and pay all the bills in the family. > It is believed that men should be great and have the good jobs while women should stay at home or do jobs that are not important.
>Men are believed to be Doctors, Engineers, Soldiers while women should be Nurses or market women.
> Women are not given opportunity to participate equally in politics as the men. There are jobs all around but they just don't want to give opportunities to women to become great people in the future simply because of stereotype. Women are being mistreated, let us put a stop to stereotype in Nigeria for a better country. These are some examples i have observed in my country.
In the ancient Hindu scriptures the women were considered worthy and somewhat superior to their male counterparts and worshipped in forms like Durga,Laksmi and Saraswati.
But overtime the conditions of women weakened in the Indian society.
Although the concept of gender equality is gaining recognition, and there is an improvement in women socio-economic conditions. There are lots of issues based on gender stereotypes which still prevail.
Typical Indian mindset due to centuries of backwardness due to invasions and slavery is like:
"Men are the bread earners and responsible for outdoor chores while women are supposed to be responsible for indoor tasks like carrying out household chores, nurturing families and most importantly carrying on the lineage by providing male heirs".
Right from childhood a girl child is taught to be gentle, learn house work and bow down in front of her brother and father.
Even they are denied of rights in family property.
Even in modern times like today and in big metro cities, despite having same working hours as her husband, a women is expected to do the chores,go to office, come back and cook for the family, while men are "seemingly tired " by office,a lady does double duties balancing work and family.
For the 4th question in the United States clothing brands generally cater more to men's fashion, providing a wider range of sizes and styles. This selection makes it easier for men to find clothes that fit properly. However, women often encounter difficulties because the available clothing options don't always accommodate their varied shapes and sizes, resulting in frustrating shopping experiences. This issue underscores the necessity for more inclusive sizing in fashion to better address everyone's needs.
In my country gender stereotypes aren't as common as they used to be. Romania developed in the past 30 years since the fall of the communist regime. When Romania was a communist country it was considered that women should stay, to cook food or to take care of the children. Some women had jobs but they were just cashiers, they weren't allowed to work in more important jobs. However since then things have changed and women are allowed to work what job they want and they get the same salary as men. In Romania, there are still gender stereotypes but in the countryside. For example in the countryside it is still considered that women should stay home to take care of the animals from the farm and children.
Though I think this gender stereotypes will disappear in the next 10 years.
Yes motherhood affects the the amount of money women earn, take for example in some estabilshments in my country when women give birth, they have to undergo matenity leave for like three months, it affects their salaries as the women might be made to recieve 50% of their salaries or even less. It is really hard for some women to work especially those with little children and might not have the means of having a nanny or even putting them in a daycare. This might lead a mother to take time off because she wants to take of her children as the work environment might not support her bringing her little ones to work and some offices might frown at it if she does. When mothers take time off work to care for children, they won't have much of a work experience and when they decide to come back to the workforce, they might be paid less as against those who are more experienced.
In many parts of India there is still gender stereotype. Women are treated unfairly. It is believed that women are just born to complete their family duties and child rearing. On the other hand, men are born to earn money and make family decisions . Many women are not allowed to work and are discriminated by people. Men are considered superior. Even in some areas girls are not allowed to complete their education and are married at a early age. Women are considered less capable and have many limitations. But according to me both are equal and should get equal opportunities ,like in my family my mother is working and efficiently balances both business and domestic duties.
I think gender stereotypes are the major problem in our country and it can be globally also. In my opinion women are not getting the jobs in the stem fields like chief technologies etc. And there is a limited job opportunity for women. In some country women are facing many problems like women are dominanted by men for example In our day today life we can see that only women can do household works and men are not supposed to do and mostly girls are in caregiving fields . And in this generation women's should must be educated for their life to be better. And they should give freedom for girl's. And some women's will be mentally stress and get into the depression. women have faced more systemic disadvantages in areas like education, employment, and leadership. However, men can also experience discrimination, particularly in family courts, education, and societal expectations. Gender discrimination manifests in various ways, including wage gaps, biased hiring practices, stereotypes, and unequal legal treatment. Overcoming gender discrimination requires promoting equal opportunities, challenging stereotypes, and ensuring fairness in all aspects of society, so that people are judged based on their abilities rather than their gender we as youngsters should work towards this to make our country a gender discrimination free "INDIA"
Yes gender sterotypes are a problem in my country as women have less access to some jobs like the office of a politican, mechanic, engineer, construction worker, airforce etc. and I think the reason why women don't have these opportunities is because women are expected to do domestic work like cooking, washing clothes, cleaning the house etc. I do not think this is right because men and women need to have the equal opportunities. In my culture during festive season when the masqurades come out, men and boys go out to have fun but the ladies and girls are excepted to stay inside the house because it is believed that women are not supposed the see the masqurade, if they come out and see the masqurade it is believed that the women will not be able to give birth. I wish men and women can have equal opportunities.
Gender stereotypes are definitely a problem in every country and always have been. Although it has improved after numerous women's rights movements, old stereotypes still haven't completely gone away. Compared to the 20th century, it is definitely better, but you can still notice inequality in workplaces and how people treat women.
During the 20th century, women were heavily suppressed and confined to domestic roles as they were considered too weak to handle jobs that were dominated by men. During WWI/WWII, this was changed but only temporarily as women took the opportunity to work in factories, engineering and other industries, but it was only because they had to. When men returned from war, women were expected to go back to their domestic jobs, reinforcing the stereotype that they didn't belong in men's jobs.
Today, things are much better for women, but there are still issues with inequality. I know this isn't related to the UK, but I wanted to talk about an obvious case of gender inequality in the US. When women want to take on a leadership role, they face sexism. Clinton and Harris both ran for President against Trump (a sexist man with many charges against him for crimes against women, sexual comments towards his daughter, aiming to remove all minority groups from the US), and somehow lost? Only people who share the same views would put such a person in power, so we obviously still face gender inequality in the world. Females who want to go into a leadership role are still suppressed by gender stereotypes which suggest that women don't belong in certain fields.
Let's assume we have 50/50 representation between men and women in society and that both men and women have the right to vote (which is thankfully the case in most countries).
Are there definitely evidence that someone cannot be elected on the basis of gender?
Can you think of examples where women managed to get into leadership position through a democratic process?
Hello Charles, you make a good point!
After doing some research on the recent US election, I found that out of 156 million votes cast in Trump v Harris, 53% were female and 47% were male.
According to exit polls, 53% of women voted for Harris and 54% of men voted for Trump, showing that there is a clear gender gap in voting preferences with women favouring Harris and men favouring Trump.
I think that these statistics are really important as even though women made up the majority of votes, stereotypes still influence how people voted in the election. The fact that men supported Trump over Harris can be seen as them doubting a woman's ability to be a leader, or perhaps that she would be less competent to run the country.
There has also never been a female president in the US - though Harris and Clinton have been candidates, they both lost to Trump, and I think we all know what kind of person he is. If people are favouring him over a woman because of her race or gender, then there are clear problems with their political system.
However, there are instances where women have managed to get into a leadership position through a democratic process! New Zealand has had 3 female prime ministers - Jenny Shipley, Helen Clark and Jacinda Ardern.
I did some further research and discovered the Gender Inequality Index (GII), and NZ ranks 24th at 0.094 compared to the US in 46th at 0.204. This suggests that NZ's lower levels of gender inequality allows these women greater opportunities to be in power, and also may be the reason why the US has never had a female president.
In Bangladesh, due to gender stereotypes, men tend to go for jobs more then women. In many cases,gender-based stereotypes still persists in my country, where men tend to focus more on jobs. As a result, women don’t get as many opportunities for employment. However, women in our country are not lagging behind. They have proven their success through their own initiatives and skills in various fields. Selling products online, promoting them through social media, and establishing a presence on digital platforms are key examples of women becoming self-sufficient. They are making contributions in various fields by taking initiatives for their livelihoods. Women in our country sell cakes, jewellery, cosmetics, clothes, shoes, and various accessories online. Additionally, they promote their products through social media. This progress has initiated a shift in social perspectives and has opened new doors of opportunity for women.
I agree with you, whether you are a man or woman, you have the ability to become anything or do anything if you put your heart to it. Your reason for running away from any role should not be because the society says so, it should just be a matter of choice and belief.
I chose number 1. In our country, as in most economies, there are definite parts of the economy that have a percentage of men's and women's particular jobs, depending on every economy; however, in my economy, women take a lot of parts of the economy's jobs, in sports, science, engineering, business and politics. Some sports are too tough, like weightlifting sport, and even most men can't do it but some women can win prizes in it for instance: Rehab Ahmed, although she is one of the people with special needs, won the Golden medal in weightlifting and many other foremost women winning in diverse sports like the swimmer Rania Elwani, who is the first African, Arabian, Egyptian women to win a lot of swimming medals and took the nickname of the best swimmer. She was also a doctor and in 2015 she was one of the members of the Egyptian parliament; thus, in our economy, women are in most jobs of our economy, such as in the ministry, judgment, a civil engineering; although it is a job that a lot of people think this job is only for men, ... etc. I have seen a lot of women in my country as drivers, a worker in lifting building materials and even help paying the fees and other payments so, in my economy there is no huge gender racism between a male and a female.
In addition, I want to say that motherhood is the hardest job that gets an excellent gen or the opposite.
There are many systems and products that are designed by, and for, men and women are simply an after-thought. For example, seatbelts are designed using a crash test dummy that is the size of the average man, meaning that women are 46% more likely to be seriously harmed in an accident.
Additionally, pink tax is a problem in the UK. Many items are exactly the same (or worse) than the male product but cost more because they are 'pink' or designed 'especially for women'. such as razors, shampoo and deodorant.
Sterotypes is a big problem in my city because most jobs are often given to men, people think men do better in those jobs than women. One particular position is in the office of the president or head of state of a country. It is a known fact that about 113 countries have never had a woman president or head of state while around 26 countries have. The question is why is hard for people to let women lead a country? Some people think women can't rule the country because they feel women can be faint hearted and women should be given the lesser jobs to do like cooking or taking care of the children. Even in some schools when children are being taught the roles of mothers and fathers, the children are taught the mother prepares food for the family, mothers are given never given a greater role other than this. I feel that if women can look after and train their children, they can equally rule the land. I am of the view that women can lead and even make the world a better place. Thank you.
In my city one industry you are less likely to see women is in the transportation business that is driving commercial buses, taxi, tricycles etc. I have never seen a woman driving a commercial bus or tricycle before, these vehicles are mostly associated with men, people feel it might be too strenous for women. I am just thinking what it will take for a woman to convey passenagers from one state to another that is a journey where you have to spend a day or two on the road driving. I think this might be a difficult task for a woman, maybe this why this kind of jobs are not associated with women. But we cry and advocate for gender equality, let me ask how you would feel if your mother or sister were to move people or goods and be on the road for such a long distance? I am not exactly comfortable with the idea.
There are so many products not designed with women in mind. One of such product is the spacesuit, early spacesuits were designed for the average male body which often did not fit women astroanuts very well and were uncomfortable and was a safety concern. Though progress has been made in the design, a spacesuit that fits well will ensure safety, women can move freely and there will be no accident or head injury.
Yes, gender stereotypes are a massive problem in my country, Greece. Here, most of people strongly believe that women are not capable enough to work as police officers, for example, or firefighters who require physical strength and resistance. Even though a large number of women have proved this wrong, this type of discrimination still exists. Furthermore, if a woman decides to create a family and goes through pregnancy time, she is most likely to get fired from her job. Even if a woman manages to stay at her job, she is going to have to hard time keeping her position just because of the difficulty in having a balance between raising her children and participating in work stuff. Lastly, there is discrimination between children as well, as toys like cars are assigned to boys and toys like dolls or fake cleaning supplies are assigned to girls. Although people are trying to cancel this, it still remains a concerning problem in my country that it will probably not come to an end soon.
Thanks for sharing your comment. What steps can we take to challenge these stereotypes and, therefore, ensure change for women?
Yes, gender stereotypes are an enormous disaster in Egypt that prevent women from reaching their goal and dream by taking them out of the thing that they want to complete in like education. Most of the parent stop their daughters from educating to make them marry at the early age or to work as housewives. Moreover, if she wanted to reach her dream, all people would insult her, and she would be known by her bad behavior.
Secondly, mothers in Egypt have a lot of responsibilities. They clean, bring up, cook and teach but at the end, they Rarey receive a kind or a good word by their husbands. despite what they do, husbands may throw insults from his mouthes even if it was something simple like if their wives forgot to add salt to the food.
In Egypt, Women cannot work easily. 90% of women in Egypt are housewives consequently if a woman wants to work, she must first take the permission of her husband then if he agreed, she would go to find work and hardly had she found work. Why does all of this happen to women?
In Egypt, systems are not fair in addition the simplest system to talk about is about the gym in Egypt. There are few gyms for women in Egypt. If you go to Egypt, you will find only gyms for men and none for women. This is totally not fair.
To conclude, I hope in Egypt that in one day, gender unequallity disappear because it affects females and we must as males think about others not only about ourselves.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and helping other students on the Hub to understand what life is like where you are. Who do you think is responsible for helping to make a change? The government, men, women, everyone, or someone else?
Dear Olivia @ Topical Talk. Thank you for replying to my comment and appreciating it.
I believe that the governments and men in Egypt are responsible to solve the inequality between males and females.
GOVERNMENTS
Governments must prevent the marriage at the early age and if the families order their daughters to marry when they are children or teenagers, governments will put down punishments on the legal guardians (The father and mother). Governments must order the companies to increase the proportion of the women employees. Governments must make fines for anyone who assaults a woman.
MEN
The man must take a part in the woman's responsibilities, and he must know how his wife fights to make him satisfied. The man must also give up control and share his thoughts, problems and opinions with her when taking an important step in his life.
To conclude, the women must not waive their rights.
I don’t think it’s fair that men get some jobs and women don’t, or women get some jobs and men don’t. However, what really isn’t fair, is that men get paid more! Did you know that women only earn 84% of men’s salary on average? This can’t be happening. We need to make the world an equal, fair, just place and we can start by making sure women and men get paid the same if they have the same job. It also affects what job they have because if men are allowed to do more jobs then that influences women’s salary as men get paid more. We can solve this by letting women and men do whatever jobs they want, there doesn’t have to be more men working in it, and then gender rights are equal. Our gender stereotypes problems should be solved as soon as possible so that our world can become a better place.
There are some stereotypes in my country, Nigeria, men think women are not capable of many things for example work as drivers, work in a car wash, and be mechanics etc. If you go to a local mechanic workshop you won't find any woman there maybe because people think the job is "too dirty", women can't easily go under cars the way Men do. But I have seen a female Mechanic who does her job very well and has a lot of patronage and is also doing well financially. So, women actually have both the ability and capacity to do anything if they want. Their capacity goes beyond just being housewives. just think women are meant for
house wives.
In your example, how much would you breakdown between women who actually want to be mechanics, women who want to be mechanics but think they would be turned down, women who want to be mechanics who were blocked from being mechanics and woman who are mechanics? Can you think what factors could influence each of these results and how we can make them beneficial to society?
Yes, in my country there are so many problems relating to stereotypes. Take for instance, if a woman wants to go into the construction work department or line, she might being denied the right but will be advisedto go for something more feminine for example to be a teacher, nurse, trader or something that relates mostly with women. Let's look at it from another perspective, culture wise. In most cultures, women especially mothers aren't always allowed to endulge in the aspect of working. It is because i believe that the woman is only meant to take care of the children and the home and also be useful in the other room.
Answering the first question, I agree that gender stereotypes are a considerable hurdle in my country, India, and i believe that almost all the countries face these kind of problems. Here, women are brought up and prepared to do housework, be great wives, take care of young ones, and be dependent on the male in the family for everything; which i think is truly unfair. Women are not allowed to work, or even face the outer world because their families think that its not "safe" for them to work and earn a living as they have this prejudice that women are not physically capable and weak, they are considered fragile and thus people don't have high expectations from women. Even if some women try to work (apart from all the feminine jobs like maids ,nurses etc), they are forced back by their families and put down. On the other hand, men are considered worthier and are expected to be the one who gets the right education, goes out and earns. Infact gender stereotypes for men are also there, men are supposed to be very brave, never cry, and be successful; if they don't, they are not fit for the society and are discriminated. All this is so depressing, although our country is developing but the problem is not yet solved. People are brainwashed that women shouldn't be given a chance to do jobs that men do (or we believe that only men can do). I really believe that everyone should be given an opportunity to prove themselves and be treated as equals.
Yes, women face unfair treatment in Nigeria. Some of the unfair treatment women face include
1. Gender based violence like domestic violence, harmful traditional practices like female genital mutilation etc.
2. Women often have limited economic opportuinites for example a limited access to education will affect the income of a woman, employment opportunities, financial resources often leading to economic inequality.
3. Our cultures often affect women which leads to social discrimination, for example in areas of marriage, inheritance and property rights. When a family loses their dad, most times when they share the properties among the children the female children will hardly recieve any it is mostly given to the male children.
4. Women are also under represented in political positions at all levels, this limits their abilities to influence decision making in the society and the nation at large.
I believe it is time for women to come together and fight against this, this can be done by raising more awareness and fighting for the girl child to be educated and discouraging early girl child marriages.
In England we are generally equal for are genders because it is wrong to treat others different because of their gender
Among various gender-based design problems in Bangladesh, the most critical and urgent issue is the lack of adequate" public toilets and safe public transpiration for women".There are fewer toilets for women in rural areas and public places compared to urban areas in Bangladesh. And in many cases they are not safe , which creates problems for their mobility. Therefore, toilets are very important for women. On the other hand, most of the buses and public transport in our country are built based on the average height of men, which makes it difficult for women to hold the handles.Solving this issue is essential for ensuring women's freedom of movement, workplace participation, and overall empowerment in Bangladesh.
There are not alot jobs that have differentiation about gender only tough jobs have differentiation between men and women which are police or army there may be some but not for fighting and those types of things they may be just for security or administrative affairs.
In other jobs they may have less money or not work at all because most company managers think that the woman have children and will take man vacations so he give her less money and sometimes he don't even bother to give he work and give more opportunities for single women than married women or mothers.
In the countryside they believe that women don't need to be educated and only men need education because they are stronger and have the ability to work while women only have to get married have children and take care of them.
There are some jobs that are rare for women women to work in which are the tough jobs such as mechanic, joiner or plumber, it is not illegal but it is just rare for them to work.
About systems mothers suffer the most as they don't have places to prest feed their babies or change diapers for them and pregrents don't have places to rest. Public transportations are not designed for women which don't give them enough space which make them uncomfortable especially if they are sitting next to a man.
I think the biggest problem in my country is gender stereotypes . The women are affect more by this problems. There are some fix and limited jobs for women. And women are not getting more opportunities like men. And in some times women are treated as slaves for their families and especially for their husband's. For example in India women only should do housework like caretaker and they are mentally disturbed and get into depression. And they are saying mens can go anywhere and any time and women should not go like that. And the best example is in religious matter women are not allowed to write any religious books like Bible, kuran, bhagavat Gita etc.
And unequal payment for women in jobs. And some mens are thinking the studies is not important for women because she is going cook only and go to other house after marriage. And in politics also women are affected by this problems . Men also facing problems but not like women. In india This issues will be reduce and women are getting more opportunities like men means our country will be great country for women.
No gender is not a big problem in the UK but in some places men get paid more than women just because of who they are. Some mother's might face a hard times geting paid or even worse geting a job just because they have children in the UK. Gender should not be a problem because it can led to some becoming homeless or not being able to pay the rent or put food on the table especially if they have lost there husband and they are the only adult in the house.
I would like to comment on number 4 in context of almost anything in medicine. Such a vast majority of research especially for pharmaceuticals have been tested on biological men without regard for how such products may interact drastically differently for women. Even common measures such as BMI were not designed with women in mind. It is quite interesting to think whether there may have been less pressure on healthcare systems such as the NHS if research samples were more inclusive in the first place, potentially preventing a large amount of complications that are dealt with every day. This even extends to mental health services particularly in the diagnosis of neurodivergence. For instance, medical professionals almost constantly fail to identify traits of autism and ADHD in young girls but do not ignore such symptoms in young boys. Medicine as it stands is designed around men and being more inclusive in scientific research as a whole can prevent so many complications for so many different groups.
Yes gender stereotypes have a Big Effect on Women around the world as they believe they No longer have A say .They believe they're not good enough for their country. But their role As Mother's is really important.Whithout women, there will be no Men. And As much as we need men, WE NEED WOMEN. It is really sad.Woman could not vote back in the olden days.Woman could not rule countries back in the olden Days. I've learnt about it in class , but I didn't expect for it to be still going on in different countries right now around the world It's not fair that men get all the interesting jobs and women have to be things like maids and housewives. And Other things that are really boring. Women should have a say in what they want to do Not the king's and president We chose for them to be elected because we thought they would make really good kings and presidents and be fair their not being fair right now and they're not letting their Not letting the women Have a say in what they want to do
.
🙏please 🙏 continue to look out for the women in the world as they have a Big impact on humanity
Yours sincerly

In my country you will hardly see women welding because of the nature of the job and men also think women are meant to cook and do the house chores. women don't weld because they think welding is a dirty job.
that a lie women are not only meant for cooking and house chores like my mom she is a pharmacist and she still does house chores
Yes, there are many industries in my country that you're less likely to see women working in. For example, a male dominant workforce that not many women work in are construction, maintenance, aircraft, and engineering. Only a tiny portion of women today occupy these jobs, making it a rare occurrence to see them working in those kinds of fields. The most likely reason this is the circumstance is because certain jobs, such as construction, require dedication, time, and strength, in which many people in my country believe women do not acquire. At some point, there has even been an occurrence where customers of these business fields have put in complaints against the women, showcasing clear discrimination. Regardless of their discouraging atmosphere, women still continue to attempt growing their appearance in different work spaces in the U.S.
"An important example of gender inequality in Bangladesh is where economic pressure forces boys and girls into labor.
Rural Context:
1) Poor families send their children to work in garment factories for financial support.
2) Boys are often engaged in physically demanding tasks like loading and unloading.
3) Girls are typically assigned to sewing, trimming, or packaging, which are lower-paying jobs.
Current Situation in Urban Areas :
1) Economic struggles are also forcing children in cities into labor.
2)Girls often get riskier jobs but receive lower wages than boys.
3) Limited access to education, especially for girls, is worsening the issue.
This inequality stems from poverty, societal norms, and lack of education. Expanding job opportunities and improving education can help address this problem.
I think the biggest problem in my country is gender stereotypes, which affect women . There are some jobs that are considered as only for women, and they don't get an opportunities as men. Sometimes, women are treated as slaves in their families, especially by their husbands. For example, in India women are expected to do all the housework and caretaker of the family, which get women into stress and depression. They are often told that men can go anywhere at any time, but women are not allowed in this way.
A good example of this inequality is in religion, where women are not allowed to write religious books such as the Bible, Quran, or Bhagavad Gita. Women also face unequal payment in the jobs . Some men believe that education is not important for women because they think women's are only to cook and taking care of their husband's home after marriage.
In politics, too, women face discrimination. In Tamil Nadu, particularly in Madurai, women are dominated by men very much. While men also face problems, but not like women. If India can reduce these issues and provide women with the same opportunities as men, our country would be a much better place for women.
Gender stereotypes exist in many societies, including mine, though the extent and impact vary. In many places, traditional ideas about gender roles still influence expectations about careers, family responsibilities, and behaviour. For example, some people might assume that men should be the primary earners or that women should take on caregiving roles.
However, attitudes are changing, and many people are challenging these stereotypes. Laws promoting gender equality, increased education, and shifting cultural norms are helping to create more opportunities for both men and women. But in some fields, such as STEM for women or caregiving roles for men, biases still persist.
Is this something you’ve noticed in your country as well?
Yes, gender stereotypes can still be a problem in many places, and they vary across cultures. In some countries, people may have fixed ideas about what roles men and women should take in society. For example, men might be expected to work in fields like engineering or business, while women are often seen as better suited for roles related to caregiving or teaching. These expectations can limit opportunities and discourage people from pursuing their interests or talents. The good news is that many movements around the world are challenging these stereotypes and advocating for more equality in all aspects of life.
Would you say this is something you’ve noticed where you are?
There are some places in India where gender inequality or discrimination still takes place. I will definitely say that gender inequality does take place in working areas, women get paid less and are treated as if they are not suited for higher positions, even if they are managers. According to the forum, women get paid 30% less than the men .The other working professionals look down on them. Some families in India think that a girl is an extra burden, while a boy is not, and he will take care of them. They used to discriminate against girls by telling them why they should spend money on a girl who is going to marry and go to another house. I think India should have more strict laws on this and not only have the law but also enforce it, specifically on gender discrimination.the government could establish a commission to investigate cases of discrimination
this would be a step forward in promoting equality and justice for women in India
Yes, in Egypt, there are still industries where women are underrepresented due to societal expectations, hiring biases or belief that certain jobs are more suitable for men. Some of these industries include:
1-Construction and Engineering: These fields are heavily male-dominated, with fewer woman working as engineers or constructors. The perception that such jobs require physical strength and long hours in tough conditions discourages many women from entering them.
2- Transportation: Female taxi, Uber or truck drivers are rare in Egypt. The job is often seen as unsafe or unsuitable for women due to long hours on the road and potential security concerns.
3- Politics and Leadership: While more women are entering politics, high-level government and leadership, positions are still mostly occupied by men. Women often face societal pressure and obstacles when pursuing political careers in Egypt
However, thing are changing and more Egyptian women are challenging these obstacles. Women are entering fields like aviation (as pilots), mechanics and even entrepreneurship, proving that they can succeed in any industry.
What steps can be taken to encourage more women to pursue careers in male-dominated industries like construction, transportation, and politics?
Encouraging more women to pursue careers in male-dominated industries like construction, transportation and politics requires a mix of policy changes, culture shifts and support systems. Here are some steps that can help:
Education and Awareness:
*Promote STEM and technical education for girls from an early age through schools and scholarships.
*Raise awareness about successful female role model in these fields through media, campaigns and mentorship programs.
Equal hiring opportunities:
*Provide financial incentives or tax benefits for companies that hire and support women in these sectors.
Cultural and social change:
*Change traditional gender roles through community engagement and discussions.
*Encourage families to support women in pursuing careers beyond traditionally "female" professions.
By combining these efforts, more women can break into a succeed in male-dominated industries, paving the way for future generations. Actually, Egypt did several programs to let women work in these fields. For example: National Council for Women: Established in 2000, the NCW is the official body responsible for advancing women's rights in Egypt.
In conclusion, women in Egypt still face barriers in male-dominated industries like construction, transportation and politics however, progress is being made through government initiatives and cultural shifts. Programs like NCW and FORSA have helped create opportunities for women to work in different fields. So, hopefully, women in Egypt will start to work in different fields very soon.

I really like this type of questions cause they need critical thinking and helps in the future life.
First of all, are gender stereotypes a problem in Egypt?
YES, but how?
My study shows that, usually men are suitable in most jobs provided because they are known of there physical strength, societal expectations, and historical workplace roles, commonly men work in factories that manufacture heavy equipment, process construction materials, or involve physically intensive labor such as: mechanics, pilots, miners, oil rig workers and electricians.
People usually think that women are not able to work with their physical strength because of traditional beliefs.
SOME PEOPLE CHANGED THESE BELIEFS, but who?
According to my previous information, Margaret Brent was one of the first women to demand voting rights in America, Kathrine Switzer became the first woman to publicly run the Boston Marathon and Marie curie was the first women to win a Nobel Prize and to win physics and chemistry; these people somehow changed the others' thoughts about women.
As a 12_year old girl, my dream is to be a great astronaut and I would like to do anything to be a remarkable one.
Try helping women have their rights!

Hi helpful_construction, it's great that it's your dream to be an astronaut! Check out our experts in the space topic for their tips about how to do it. Back to this comment - you said your "study shows that usually men are suitable" for the more physical jobs. But it's not true that women can't do these roles too. Can you find any inspirational stories of how women have built their dream careers in male-dominated industries? Particularly the more physical industries?
Hello Katie @ Topical Talk 🤗
I really adored that you loved my dream job, to be an astronaut. 🧑🏼🚀
I meant writing "usually men are suitable for more physical jobs", but why??
Well, people in the past thought that women's place is the kitchen and can only clean chores no more or less. And usually women's roles were limited to domestic duties but men held power and authority.
Some people appreciate women but not too many, I hope all people believe in us.
Women can do everything that men does but just give them a chance to shine more and more to be seen in world as men exactly are.
Can we start again? Let's start fresh!😀
Yes, there are gender stereotypes in Egypt. The stereotypes here can be divided into many sections, some of these being that hard-working jobs are for men only like manufacturing and military but there is a valid reason but we don't talk about religion and are often chosen as maids or teachers as they have greater patience. As kids, they are very emotional so they are mostly avoided by boys.
In my country (Egypt), gender stereotypes have continued to influence societal expectations, economic opportunities, and daily life. Egypt has made strides in gender equality but deeply rooted cultural norms and systemic bias still reign supreme.
Traditional views on men and women still persist, with many Egyptians believing that men should be the primary breadwinners, while women should focus on being housewives. This very "limited" mindset limits any (if all) career options that women have (especially in rural areas). And even if women get any career options, they're relegated to just be teachers or nurses simply because they're "more feminine jobs" while men are pressured to avoid childcare or nursing as they are "not women". This forced dynamic makes both men and women have their own inequalities in jobs.
In addition, mothers aren't treated with respect. While public sector jobs offer maternity leave (6 months at partial pay), private sector regulations are far weaker and due to that reason, many women faces discrimination when returning to work. The employers themselves might view motherhood as a liability, automatically assuming that women will be less flexible/be less committed. This further contributes to a significant gender pay gap for working mothers, leaving some mothers to leave the workforce entirely.
In conclusion, Egypt's industries remain male-dominated due to systemic bias and bad workplace cultures. Mothers are not respected, leadership positions are very scarce for women, but NGOs and government initiatives may change that soon.
Gender stereotypes are a huge problem in India. From childhood, boys are taught to be “STRONG” and “LEADERS”, while girls are expected to be ”POLITE” and “NURTURE”. These stereotypes don’t jus affect individuals, they shape entire industries, government, policies and even family decisions. Take education, even today in many house, a son’s education is seen as an “INVESTMENT”, while a daughter’s education is often considered “OPTIONAL “ because she will eventually belong to another family after marriage. If a girl dreams of becoming an engineer, pilot or a politician , she often face resistance, not because she lacks talent, but because the society has already decided which careers are “SUITABLE” for women. Meanwhile men are rarely encouraged to enter professions like nursing or teaching because those are seen as “WOMEN’S JOB”.
In office and businesses , women struggle to get equal opportunities. Many women are paid less than men. If a women become a leader, people often question her abilities more than they would question a man. Women are also expected to balance work and family.
These stereotypes are unfair and they stop woman from reaching their full potential. A job should be given based on “SKILLS”, not “GENDER”. A person’s dream should not be be limited by whether they are men or women.
Thank you :)
I will answer question 1.
1. There is not a big problem with this in Salamanca. Althought younger people, from 12-16 years old, have attitudes which are making this a really big problem. Talking about the jobs, i don´t think is a big problem, but it have been seen that there are some appropiate jobs for men/women.
I wil answer question three.
3. There are some countries were there are industries in which women are not really good seen in there for working. For example, construction, mining, engineering, or some jobs to work with technology. Jobs are more given to men, because in the past, men do everything outside, and women do everything at home, so is traditionally to see that men have more opportunities in jobs than women.
What strategies do you think could help promote gender equality in industries traditionally dominated by men?
Yes, gender stereotypes are a horrible problem here in my country, Egypt. However, when I did research about that, this was not in the past, in the time of ancient Egyptian women had a great freedom of doing all what they want and they were able to work in different industries. On the other hand, now in Egypt there is gender inequality and people always believe that women's main jobs are just cooking and cleaning. But the truth is that women are able to work in different industries and may be smarter than men. Even girls are treated unfairly for example, people say that girls must not be educated but boys must be educated. Why women's rights in the past were fairer than now? Why do people believe that women are not able to work and educate? Why a woman cannot be a president or a pilot for example? These questions always come to my mind when I think about gender inequality. From my point of view, both males and females must be treated fairly in everything not just in education and work. Here are some examples that may help being fair:
1- Help women succeed
2- Equal pay in jobs
3- Let women work and educate
4- stop violence against women
By using these ways my country, Egypt, will develop and improve to be better but being unfair will not help us build an awesome country it will just do the opposite. It will force Egypt to be the worst country.
To conclude, my country, Egypt, is facing a huge problem because of gender inequality. So we all must tell others to be fair, please!
Thanks 🌼
Gender inequality in Egypt long been the subject of scholarly and policy discussion. It significantly affects the well-being of millions of females in Egypt. Gender inequality is when the girls and women have less access to education, healthcare and employment. This is a disaster that they face from their childhoods
EDUCATION
There is a discrimination for the males than the females in education. In Egypt, it is sometimes not allowed for the females to be educated in some fields. In the rural places in Egypt and in upper Egypt, families stop their daughters from studying and educating furthermore they care their sons to complete their dreams.
EMPLOYMENT
Companies employ females in less important jobs moreover companies in Egypt do not give the chance and the opportunity to the female employees to upgrade and promote. In addition, some companies do not employ any female.
POLITICS
The opportunity for the females to participate in the elections decreases. Most of the politicians like the Ministers, Governors and officials are males.
EARLY MARRIAGE
In upper Egypt, Females do not have the ability to choose their life partners and also their families grind their teeth to marry early even if the female was a child or a teenager consequently, they would take lot of money from the husband to be rich furthermore some females can die because of this.
INHERITANCE
The females cannot inherit anything in upper Egypt, but the males take all the inheritance to their selves. This is a calamity.
To conclude, I hope that the females in Egypt have their own rights.
Gender stereotype problems were very common in the past in Egypt, especially in the countryside. Women were forced to stay in their homes with no jobs . While their husbands went to work, they would cook food, take care of their children, and do chores around the house. Many women were satisfied with their lives, but others wanted to prove themselves in front of the world. They had dreams and passions to follow... just like men. Some women saw what they could do better than working as housewives. However, they were either stopped by their families or husbands, which is totally against women rights. Some women refused to get married because they knew their destiny would be in their houses , whether cooking, cleaning, and more, rather than being in places where they could build their dreams and goals. Moreover, some mothers and fathers treated their children differently, they would treat their sons better than their daughters, as they wanted their family names to live for generations. In the past, there wasn't such thing as a woman police officer or a woman soldier, as they believed that men "only" could handle those kinds of jobs. Same with Egypt, when Covid - 19 was a serious pandemic, many steps that said "keep distance" that were mostly in malls and bus stops, were designed in the shape of a male foot. But now, Egypt has been working to solve these problems and our country has been supporting lots of women - founded businesses.
I think women and men should have equal rights as we are all the same in almost everything . I see that everyone should support women rights.
In my country (Egypt), some people think that a normal woman doesn't have to do anything with life except growing up(sometimes without school or university but sometimes only university), gets married, gives birth to kids and then be a Grandma and sadly pass away and if this woman has daughters this life cycle happens over and over. But a man grows up(gets a good learning even if he will not go to school but most of the time they go to university) and gets married and then find a suitable job for him and his family(to make sure if it has enough money for the family) and mostly the jobs that he takes is one of the ones below
Policeman
Teacher
A doctor in a university, then be a grandpa.
But in the other hand, some people think that a woman should grow up, goes to nursery, school and university, finds a job first and then find a suitable man for her and then make sure she will have a good life with him and then they get married and they also get kids but the woman goes to work and the man goes to work and the children goes to school, nursery and they are young or university if they are old.
To conclude, I'd like to say that not all the country is the same type they could be different, and of course some of them has negative and positive impacts on humans. So if my comment will be a lesson in the festival hopefully I'd like it to be called "types of gender equality around the world"
Thank you, Topical Talk!
Gender stereotypes are a big complication. In my country (Egypt),
Mostly in RURAL CITIES, Women and teenagers are choosen to be the housewives and maids and also they don't learn , a parent of a daughter doesn't let her go to school , they let the daughter do house chores and cooking . But that's a problem , women has their right to be a human that learns and works beside taking care of children or house...
For Men is the opposite, Men are chosen to the hardworker , he is the one who goes to work , and other properties out of the house . You can find most of the people who are in the streets of Egypt are Men. So I say that both women are men has rights to work and take care of the house and children. Men also must take care of the house and their kids also. So men and women has the right to work and take care of the house and children..
Gender stereotypes was a very big problem in Egypt and still in many places especially in countryside. A lot of girls complain of discrimination. Many families think that girl is just a mother and housewife. But this is a wrong thinking. No difference is between Men and women, Families in countryside mainly seek to educate their male sons compared to female. But we can't deny that a major changes has been happened nowadays as we can see a lot of girls and women learn and continue their career and even reach high position in their career. In my opinion we are on the track .. There were 13 of the Egyptian Women on Forbes Middle East 100 most powerful businesswomen in 2023.
Many mothers in Bangladesh face various forms of injustice and challenges in the workplace and society. Some key issues include :social barriers & stereotypes, work -life balance struggles, harassment & security issues, lack of equal Opportunities.
1) Social barriers & stereotypes -In many causes, working mothers are discouraged due to traditional beliefs and societal expectations.
2) Work-life balance struggles-They often have to manage both household responsibilities and job demands, leading to physical and mental stress.
3)Harassment & security issues - Women, including mothers, may face harassment and safety concerns in workplaces and public spaces.
4) Lack of equal opportunities - Many workplaces lack adequate maternity leave, childcare support, and fair working conditions for mothers.
However, positive changes are happening. The government and various organizations are working to improve employment opportunities for women, and many mothers are successfully overcoming these challenges.
I completely agree, and they also force child mothers commonly, 63.74% of women in Bangladesh are students while getting married. . Child marriage happens in Bangladesh a lot and they force women to get children early and worldwide reports say that women have a 1 in 3 chance of experiencing violence in their lifetime. 64% got killed by a partner of family member. 71% percent were trafficked.
Yes, in some northern parts of my country Nigeria, some people let only their male children go to school. That way so many girls haven't been educated just because of the believe that female children should only be raised to work in the kitchen. They assume that male children are the ones who deserve education because they will grow and inherit their wealth while the females get nothing. Some times they abandon their wives if they don't give birth to a son. And this is gender discrimination towards the female children. To avoid this, female children should be educated the same way males are educated, they should accept females as their children the same way they accept male children thanks.
Most people in Canada don't have anything based on gender stereotypes. Many people still hold traditional gender biases. For example, 26% say men are better at learning the trades, and 30% say women are better at caregiving skills. I did some research to learn more about this in class and apparently plenty of women suffer from sexual abuse and violence . Not commonly but also women get to experience work less. My own mother had something like this they suspended her for working and made claims because of her gender. Here in Canada sometimes women cant travel to particular places but in my opinion they should talk about this issue more here in Canada too rather then targeting India or Pakistan, as a Indian Pakistani myself its not that common as it used to be but yet still happens a lot. But thank you for reading this!
Women's can also go to the space and explore about planets and etc.Not only men's should go to the space. All men's and women's are equal nowadays. Nowadays, the womens were in high position than men's.At last, all are equal for the society.
In my country, America, gender stereotypes are a big problem here. I believe men and women shouldn't have particular roles or jobs unless it's not something that doesn't involve stereotyping, for example, a woman shouldn't be forced to be a chef or cook for people because men cook as well. Another example is how men get stereotyped as strong people, but women can be equally strong, like a female body builder or a mechanic. Sometimes mothers will face hardships in America if they're single and have a hard time making money for their family. There are many jobs I don't see women working in, and yes, I do think men get offered the job more. I do not often see women working as CEOs or lawyers. So overall, yes, there is much gender stereotyping in America.
Gender stereotypes tend to be a problem everywhere, including England , it’s insane how gender defines what you can do as a person, it’s not that big of a problem in my country as it is others you will just be judged in my country while in other countries it’s far worse . it’s just blatant sexism you should be able to do whatever you can not what someone else tells you to do . You WILL be judged if your for example a female police officer or driving and your a woman you will be judged if your a doctor and your a woman you will be judged doing anything that is usually a man’s job . Gender stereotypes are horrible and shouldn’t exist no matter the situation . Yes , maybe men tend to be stronger than woman but that shouldn’t stop women from doing everything men can do.
A product that is designed for men, which makes it difficult for women to use is tools. Tools are made for the physique of men, which makes it hard for women who have less upper body strength to use them. Also, items like gloves and suits are often designed with a unisex (both genders) label, but tend to poorly fit women, as some have tiny hands/bodies. One last product that is designed for men is their cologne. Some women prefer less sweet scents, and prefer more strong and spicy scents. I think that all products that are mainly used by men shouldn't be ONLY designed for men, and women do get mistreated for using them.
You've made some interesting points. Do you think this is a global issue, or is it more prevalent in certain countries?
Yes there are a lot of gender stereotype type for both men and women for instance in some patr if my country women are not allowed to do construction work because they say women are the weaker vessel which I do believe is not true. In some part of my country women are deprived from the chance in participating in family businesses no matter how vibrant they are. It would be good if there were little changes.
Gender stereotypes aren't that much of a problem, at least for me, in the UK, though I'm not saying that its not a problem at all. Many children have been brought up that girls can only like pink and Barbie's and that boys can only like blue and cars. It is also a problem in a lot of schools as few boys pick 'girly' subjects, for instance hospitality and catering. This is proof as in many groups there only one or two boys and they get called out on it a lot and instead boys pick engineering because its 'only for males' The same is for females. I feel like if a change is going to be made we need to start telling children that it doesn't matter if what they like is 'boyish' or 'girlish' and that they should just like what they like. People should be trying to get rid of it in schools to make the future for everyone better, not just in the UK.
In my country Nigeria, some industries are less likely to be seen with women. Reason, in some parts of my country, some people wrongly believe that women are not meant to work in such an apartment but they are meant to stay at home and do house chores, cook, go to the market to buy or sell and to work in their farms to get the food they and their families will eat during the day time and the night time. And this make them feel lonely while not getting to know more about people which most times makes them feel always unhappy. This might even cause poverty among some people due to they don't have big businesses to earn money which makes them unable to send their children to school which causes lack of education and illiterates everywhere and if the woman is a widow that is where it gets worse. So it is advisable that all genders should be allowed to work in industries thanks.
I am comfortable with the first topic ,gender stereotypes are the great issue in india. The society is restricting women to study, compelling them to marry, and after marriage, they are treating them as similar to maids, this really breaks my heart. But they are encouraging boys to study. The society will also restrict their sports, they are making them to do only the role of "homemaker", they are like a chef to the family for cooking. In the legislative assembly of our country, 68% seats care reserved for men and only 33% of seats for women. In engineering in india, only 25 % are women and 75% are men, from this we can understand the family 's pressure. And the least contribution of women is the field of construction, 90% is men and only 10% are women, I just got astonished and it is because of social stereotypes. I think this is a issue on fire, always...
Yes, gender stereotypes are a very huge problem here in Kenya.People limit young girls education, because they believe in traditional activities such as Female Genital Manipulation(FGM),they believe that if girls won't participate in such activities to they won't get married.Even if people talk to their elders 40% of them listen.
I think we should discuss recent issues experienced in Taiwan due to subsea internet cable cuts suspected by authorities to be from mainland Chinese intervention later for the government to blame it on natural deterioration. This event highlights not only how little trust nations' governments have for each other but also how dependent we are on networks that are so vulnerable to such difficulties and can be valuable for us to discuss.
That's not fair there are many woman/man stereotypes like for example America's election, kamala could of won but it looks like America don't trust kamala to be their president and like I said that's not fair.men get good jobs like doctors, computer engineering and more and we get simple jobs like maid jobs ,nurse jobs, and so on but to be honest we can get jobs that men can but we're not up to expectations for the the jobs and we get teased. But really talented woman like for example Margaret thatcher get the jobs men do. but if we work together to get the job of our dreams.
Thanks for reading
This problem of gender stereotypes is very popular in the northern part of my country Nigeria. So many communities in that area are engaged in only sending their male children to schools and this causes so many females to be uneducated due to the believe that females are to serve as house wives, run errands and go to the market. While the males that will inherit their wealth will go to schools and be educated but this will cause so many female illiterates. Due to this the women's husbands may abandon their wives if they don't have a son or he will not accept the female child as his daughter. And this is gender discrimination towards females and it should be stopped through accepting female children and sending female children to school just like they do to males, thanks.
Yes, for example in most parts of my country Nigeria, so many people think females aren't meant to play football. Some think so because they think females aren't strong enough to stand the pain in football or may be they can't learn the skills in football and some also think women can't do mechanical works because they think they candle mechanical machines or don't have the energy to carry heavy tools. They assume that because they believe that men are way stronger than women but I think that is a lie. I think women can do the jobs men can do thanks.
According to the people of India men should work for the family and women should stay at home and look after the family. Its now 2025 and women have started to be independent and have the equal rights to do the work what a man does and the society is good with it. That’s what I thought until I realized what my relative was doing. She was looking for a bride for her son. But she had a condition and it was that the bride should never go to work after marriage and look after the family. From that I leant that though the country and the people have developed the stereotypes set for women is still alive. Women are expected to do jobs which are less complicated than men’s job. For example in India women in sports field are not diversely known. I didn’t mean that there are no women in sports field but not all of them are known like how the male sportsperson are famous. The situation gets bad when a women gets successful in her career and reaches a high position the society criticizes for not taking care of the family. And when a man is at home when his wife is going to work because of the circumstances he will be criticized for being jobless. In India the society is literally deciding what a man and woman should do.
woman are now getting support in some countrys and thats good. woman also got two annual holidays such as woman independence day and mothers day. Thats why I look up to being a woman.
thank you topical talk
Are the day's global? And are they holiday from work (paid jobs and work around the home)?
The annual holidays for woman are global as it will be never forgotten because some countries celebrate woman in their own way. Some woman work on mothers day/woman independence day some don't and get small pay when they go back to work the next day and that's not fair imagine if it was men missing a day of work for their annual holiday (father's day) will they get bad pay when they come back to work?
Thank you topical talk
Yes in my country Nigeria, gender stereotypes is very popular in most parts of my country, football for example; some people think women are not capable of playing football some people think so because they unfairly think that women can't endure the pain in football. Some other people think so because they think they can't learn the skills in football. Sometimes they even go into cyber bulling online if they play in any worldwide match or win any match. And this discourages women from playing such worldwide games which makes people think they aren't capable of playing football. And it also makes women that are good at the game loose confidence and stop playing football. So it is advisable that this should be stopped because everyone has the right to do what they want thanks.
Yes, in some industries in my country Nigeria, men are most likely to be seen there. Some industries don't allow women work in their industries because they wrongly believe that women aren't strong enough to handle some machines due to weakness. Some also think they are not as educated as men are to control a machine in an industry. Some also say so because they aren't as physically fit as men are to work there but this are all lies because if you are educated to work in such an institution you can be able to handle machines there whether physically fit or not it does not matter and the more you exercise the stronger you become no matter what people say about you and if people keep believing all these lies some women may be discouraged and will want to give up on her dream and this may lead to ending up being a house wife that carries out chores in the house, so it is advisable that this should be stopped thanks.
Yes the gender stereotypes can be a problem here, in some places it can be a problem without even knowing. For example: women aren’t involved in as many important jobs as men like how in Australia 12% of all builders are women and 88% are men.If you were driving past a fire you wouldn’t expect a women at the scene; in the army in 2020 only 10.3% of members were women.I think that a lot of jobs globally are jobs that men mostly dominate. If you were reading a book you would expect a women to be cooking in the story. This leads to unfair stereotypes: men are associated with building were women are associated with cooking or sowing. This is a problem because women are then disheartened and they may not be comfortable with doing jobs like being an astronaut or being a builder. This is wrong for several different reasons as women could make many positive impacts on the world and then possibly change the way men do things and improve are life.I think that the inequality of genders has however improved in terms of the past and present, I think this because women couldn’t do much but there has definitely been an improvement.
I agree because... if you look at point 3- in my country women are less likely to be seen in construction sites because they are believed to have no energy hence only allowed to work in restaurants and stay at home..
One of the worst problems that face girls is stereotypes. Although boys are affected also with this problem but girls more. Stereotypes is a very big problem in my country, Egypt.
Geert Hofstede, a Dutch psychologist, gave his opinion in the stereotypes in Egypt and masculine communities and said, '' in the masculine communities men are expected to be independent, assertive, control-oriented, ambitious, dominant and competitive; women are expected to be supportive, caring for others, nurturing and dependent. ''
But iI don't believe this. I do think that anyone can be whatever he wants. But unfortunately, a lot of people in Egypt don't think like that especially in countryside. They believe that girls are born to be mom.
Another stereotype is that men don't cry and pink for girls and blue for boys but the most common one in Egypt is that when girls marry they stop working so that many parents in Egypt don't send their daughters to school.
We need to aware people to have solution for this problem.
There are many solutions in my opinion but the most important start from home:
- Parents should teach their daughters and sons to be independent.
- Education, we should talk more about gender equality from early childhood.
Yes, gender stereotypes are very common in my country Nigeria especially in the case of football for example; so many people believe that women are not capable enough to play football, some others think they are too shy and weak to play football. Sometimes when women are playing football some people laugh at them while watching some people regard it as a boring game whenever they play and this discourages women from playing football. Some women that have the talent of playing football will be discouraged and stop playing worldwide matches online matches because they will be so much hatred comments and this makes women loose passion in playing football matches and this makes women stop playing and men will be the only gender playing which is not proper and should be avoided thanks
In most parts of my country Nigeria, gender stereotypes is very common for example: so many people don't send their female children to school to be educated because they wrongly believe that girls should not be educated and should only go to market to sell, run errands, go to the farm and do the house chores while males should be give education and no stress because they will inherit their fathers properties. While the females that won't inherit the properties will have to work and become housewives which is not proper for women to be treated that way. Some times husbands abandon their wives if they don't give birth to a son or they won't accept the female child if his wife gives birth to a daughter or they will kill the daughter which is wrong and should be prevented through accepting daughters when conceived and by sending their daughters to school the same way they do to males thanks.
Where I’m from, in india unfortunately, this is still a big issue in many industries. fields like construction, building, certain IT companies etc provide less oportunity to women and roles are still very male-dominated. It is not about women work compatibility but it’s just that opportunities aren’t always as accessible for women as for men.Thankfully, things are changing, but there’s still a long way to go in breaking these stereotypes about women being inferior and less capable than men.
I have commented on this topic before. When I didn't realize how serious gender Stereotypes well and now reading all of your comments and scrolling through them and read in your Comments has made me.Gender stereotypes are not only going on in one country, but in different countries around the world. And everyone in those countries have rules for women and boundaries for women.Boundaries like Women.
Are not allowed to be policemen.Or Women can't rule countries because they are good enough about all those are a lie because women are really important in humanity. They basically like Trees , we need trees to breathe as we need women to be alive because women give Birth to people and yes, some men do give birth to people but not as much as women. Some people will see this kind of stuff about women. And just totally ignore it and look at something else. However, some people actually take interest in it And start realises the need to protect women and look out for them and let them have a say in things. And those are the kind of people we need in those kind of countries. We need people that know. The difference woman make. And not a bad difference. A good difference the difference that really stands out to some people. And I.
Hope that as you read this comment you start.Thinking about those women Who don't get a say in things who don't get a fair choice? Then who are told they're not allowed to do stuff because they're a girl. We really need to start looking out for them. And letting them have a decision
.Don't be part of those people.Who are
It's really sad as when we imagine a astronaut we imagine them as a man and astronaut suits were only invented for men not woman. That's not fair some people just don't have any faith in woman and what they can achieve. If men can achieve things so can we. I hope in the future, woman are more respected by gentlemen.
Thank you topical😁
Yes, in my country Nigeria, some people unfairly think that women aren't meant to go to space. Some people believe they aren't meant to go to outside the planet because they can't survive out of the planet with no oxygen. Some also think they aren't educated enough for launching a space rocket into space. Some people think they aren't meant to go because they wrongly believe that women are mostly unphysically fit to stand gravitational force. But all this thoughts are lies because as long as you educated on how to launch a rocket you can launch a rocket no matter your gender. And people should women to go to space and explore the same way men are allowed to go to space, thanks.
Some woman and men don't want their girls or boys doing what their opposite gender does for example they might not want their boy doing ballet as it is a girl thing and say he should do football, do you think that's fair for boys what if the boy goes on the olympics. whatever happens in the present effects the future. Adults should believe in their children's passion.
Hello observant_quince! I really like your point that 'adults should believe in their children's passion'. Why do you think that some people may believe that ballet is just 'a girl thing', even though this isn't true because in fact there are lots of male ballet dancers and boys who do ballet?
Ballet was only created for girls just like football was only created for boys and it's really weird to people when some boys walk in a ballet club. Boys often get teased if they do what girls do, that makes me feel really sad for the boys who do ballet. 10 % of boys in the world do ballet. What's the matter of doing what your opposite gender does ? People can embrace what they do no matter what even if it's a boy or girl activity. People often bottle up their thoughts of what they want to become because they think they will be teased I think that is not good people should be proud of their job.
