  • I don’t agree with any of the options as I think technology shouldn’t be allowed at all. It is technically cheating as it alters everyone’s opinions and outcomes - I did say this in a previous comment but I haven’t mentioned it on the poll yet.

    1. tech does not help cheat. i have seen and heard comments on this topic saying tech causes sports to be unfair. since the 1800s, tech has help to modify sports and make it what it is. for example, in the case of deciding outcomes, technology like VAR in football, eagle eye in tennis among others have helped in making the right and fair decisions in games. where a goal would have been cancelled or offered to the wrong team because of split second errors, tech has allowed us to analyse even the slightest mistakes and take the appropriate measures. it has also improved the safety of sportsmen with the use of heart rate monitors to check stress and prevent burnout, shock absorbing helmets, suits and mouth guards, AI used to foresee circumstances that could lead to injuries so as to prevent them, and so many other things that have helped reduce injury in non contact sports by up to 40% in professional settings. tech has also improved the performance of athletes positively. steroids that were a serious problem before can be traced easily with anti doping labs. tools that monitor the overall well being and performance of an athlete allow for better training programmes and extend the athlete`s career. tech has also been used to create better and more quality products. all in all, tech has revolutionised sports for the better.

      1. I disagree because... making it unfair is still cheating, just a different aspect. and also, if someone can’t tell which team the goal would go to, maybe they’re just bad at their job, and they don’t need help with it. Tech is terrible in sports as it doesn’t help anyone fairly and just counts as cheating.

        1. I agree because. .. because the fair way is the best way

      2. I disagree with your reply because if you use extremely good technology and the other team doesn’t have that type of technology then that’s just 😦 unfair because the technology your team has is amazingly advanced advantage😡👿.

    2. I disagree because sport can never be fair no matter what. Everyone's bodies and genetics are different and these could help them swim faster, run faster, depending on their feet shape, arm length etc. Some people are born naturally good at sport or naturally a fast runner. So this is why I disagree, sport won't be fair with or without technology.

      1. Thats what I’m saying. Everyone has different genetics and bodies, and so they are all different levels of strength in the game. And some use tech to make themselves better, which is changing what they can do with their genetics and bodies.

So technically, you do agree with me, you just don’t see it. Thank you.

    3. I disagree with you reason being that technology helps to train athletes better and not to cheat. Personally, I feel that technology helps to realise/reach their maximum potential.
Technology helps you to train better and not cheat.
And also, technology can be used to make sports safer. With the use of devices like impact monitors, heart rate variability monitors and smart helmets, sports has been made safer for athletes.

    4. I agree because... because technology is changing the word both positively and negatively so I agree with you technology shouldn't be allowed at all it is unfair and chatting to those who do not have technology with them have a nice day THANK YOU

      1. Yeah, thank you for seeing my point of view, because tech is good for training as it’s only for extra support, but using it in the competition itself, I feel is a form of cheating as it changes your skills.

        1. I'm not sure about this because... what will happen to those who are relearnt on technology when it goes down

    5. Technology isn't always Ai or telephones, Its machines and systems like treadmills for runners .In my opinion, sport would never be 100% fair.As everybody's body is different. And not everybody will ever have access to the same equipment or even equipment at all. It also depends whats your goal in the sport and what sport it is.Most would say win so you would do everything legal and that follows the rules to win.Like using Tech that pushes you to your limits. If you had the money to buy a supplement that is legal and allowed most would do it.

    6. That’s a good point, I partly agree.
Like why should technology be part of everything even in a sport, it started to be over.
I’m one of the people that is addicted to technology and AI especially when it comes to 24/7 availability; still not a big fan for technology to be in sports as well.
      BUT WHY NOT??!
It makes sports lose the human element, like why should technology be affecting how we play, we need to keep the spark alive, we are the emotions, and the imperfection and the worst part about the human decision-making and the drama especially in tennis and soccer.
It sometimes disrupts the pace of the game which makes the fans lose interests and it leads to longer waiting times for reviews.
Moreover, it would be unfair for some richer teams to buy more expensive equipments than the other team which helps the richer team to win with no drop of sweat.
Players and coaches can depend on technology more than their own experience which may make them ignore their intuition.
In short, depending on tech isn’t the best thing, even though I don’t prefer it in sports cuz you need to show your effort but if you need to then use it in a way that shows everyone you’re still independent and can do anything without the AI.

    7. I disagree because first technology was not built to encourage cheating instead it was built to enhance and to make life easier . For example is not because of technology that communication , transportation , e.t.c have been made easier due to the fact that a person from Nigeria like me can communicate with someone from a far away continent thanks to mobile phones etc. It how we humans choose to use the technology the technology that we can classify as a disadvantage. In the aspect of sport technology has been able to detect when a player is offside in football giving us proof to accept that fact .

    8. Even thought I did vote for one, I agree that technology is quite ruining it, I don’t think that it will affect any scores no matter what.

      1. But it will affect the scores because, say, one country doesn’t have any tech because they like to do it traditionally, but their opponent does and normally they would be stronger, but because their opponent uses the tech, it’s making them win even though it’s not their natural skill, it’s just the tech.

    9. I agree and disagree at the same time because...i think thats right you have a point but i also think sometime technology helps and some time it become a problem😵‍💫

      1. Are you saying you don’t understand? Basically I’m saying that, using tech to train occasionally is fine because it’s not a competition, but don’t use it during the main thing because it changes what you can do, which is altering your body and skills. Using it in training, yes, you might get too used to it, which is why it should only be done occasionally so you can understand the feeling of it.

        1. Hi...💗 so i am new in topical talk so i want some tips... So basically can anyone help in some questions please... 😵‍💫
          1) how to earn stars?
          2) How to participate in the weekly competition?
          3) how some country's get in 1st place?
          4) what to really do in here?
5)..... (any other tips that will help any beginner)

Please someone answer this comment....and that will lot much help me....thank you💗

    10. I disagree, as I find that human error is responsible for inaccuracy in sports. Humans sometimes feel a certain way about a subject, and this is called bias. Humans can use this bias to change scores and record inaccurate data so that the team or player they support wins or vice versa. Although fully autonomous technology in sports (AI and fully automatic robotics) can be inconsistent due to feeding itself inaccurate data, semi autonomous tech (slo-mo cameras and human controlled robotics) are the best way to keep track of time, sports statistics, and participant safety. I also think that opinions and outcomes are not a reason to disallow technology, as everyone is going to have different opinions on what they think is going to happen in a game, or the winner, and that robots are better at figuring out the outcome. For example, the average human reaction time is about 0.25 seconds, or 250 milliseconds, whereas a mechanical monitoring device, such as a high speed camera can react in 3 milliseconds. In the sports world, hundreds of milliseconds is the difference between first place and a participant medal.

In conclusion, I disagree with charming_television's statement because robots are free from bias and faster than humans at recording outcomes.

      Thank you for listening.

      1. When humans do the ‘judging’ themselves, yes, they do make occasional mistakes, but I think sport should be entertaining with the suspense when who gets a goal or who scores. I think that sport should follow the rules but not exactly so it includes fans having their money worth.

        Ways to follow rules:
        1. Not use AI, but instead have people (that are paid) to watch the lines or the goals to make sure it’s done correctly but human as AI is taking over the world.
        2. Maybe ask for fans’ opinions in case they saw it closely too, but make sure they don’t bias anyone.

        Ways to keep fans entertained:
        1. Build suspense and make sure you have a good commentator to keep fans interested.
        2. Listen to their ideas and opinions.

Ways to stop AI usage in sports:
        1. Post about it on social media platforms or topical talk.
        2. Find someone to debate with and share opinions - make sure to be persuasive and interesting.

If you’re associated with a sport or know someone who is, try to convince them to maybe change the rules or at least start a petition against it. I strongly dislike AI usage, and believe it should be stopped before the world has been ruined by AI and all of the side effects.

        Thank you for reading.

    11. Yes but I think that technology should be used in the right way as in maybe you use it to enhance and change how you play or maybe in training to get better also another thing is that everything has different skills and that’s what makes a good team . In addition tech plus talent equals success good sportsmanship behavior which helps the team to achieve. When you focus your mind on how you can improve using technology as your guide I think it should be allowed as long as the organizer knows if they have a health issue or maybe it’s allowed in the game .overall the point of tech is that it helps you to improve not to take advantage of your skills also it’s the human minds that made tech and AI and all of that stuff so that’s why I think it should be used for support and enhance performance.

    12. I disagree because “technology” is an extremely wide term. It should be used to improve accuracy, the sport is much fairer that way. When you have 100% accuracy in a sport, you can’t blame a referee. It helps limit backlash and threats refs face

    13. I agree because technology doesn’t need to evolve around sports because it should be cast as cheating! So I fully agree with you.

  • To help athletes perform safely they should have technology that tells them what’s gonna happen next so they can perform safely and not cheat or not get hurt so that’s why they should add technology that works like that and to support what there doing they should probably give them safety stuff and for outcomes they should make sure that the outcome isn’t them being injured 🤕 here’s an example if someone’s doing gymnastics they need a support mat so they don’t break a bone if they try landing and then failing without a mat they would hit the floor hard but with it they would be fine and wouldn’t be injured so the outcome could be them landing safely after they failed or it could be them hurting themself so they should use a safety mat for sports or other safety stuff for sports that don’t use safety mats this would mostly be better hope you enjoyed reading this kinda long comment this comment is about 936 characters long

    1. Thank you for your comment - but please do use punctuation to separate phrases, sentences and thoughts, or else future submissions might be rejected. It's very hard to read big blocks of text!

  • I think the main role of technology in modern sport is to help athletes perform safely because even if it enhances, support or decide outcomes more accurately, we should remember that people's life and physical health might be at stake especially in rough sports e.g car races. The same way a little leak sinks a ship is the same possible way a little injury can take a life, so the role of technology should be to help athletes perform safely and even if an accident is to occur it wont cause much harm.

    1. reliable_ant

I agree with you, technology is to keep athletes safe as they play their sport especially if the ground is rough. There are some sports that are rough in nature like bicycle , motorcycle, and car races. All these sports should have safety equipments like helmet, knee guard, elbow guard, and water to stay hydrated.

      1. I agree, technology should be used to keep people safe, but I think it shouldn't be used for enhancing skills.

  • Why I choose to help athlete to be safe is because some sports are dangerous like fomular 1.Equipment like halo keeps the racer or athlete safe from accident which can lead to wound .Some help to respect rules like VAR which helps the referee

    1. I agree with your opinion,Athletics should be safe because some sports are dangerous like football, tennis and basketball and the players can hit your face and injure you. It is advisable that athletes should wear safety gadgets as they play their sports.

  • Why I chose to decide outcomes more accurately is because of the VAR technology. Ever since the VAR was adopted it has helped referees see things in matches that the human eye can not be able to capture. In my own point of view I think the major role of technology in sport is to decide more outcomes accurately. For example if in a football match a player is taking the ball towards the post side and another player who is coming to get the ball from his r her opponent hits him and the two of them falls, if the referee did not see who hits who then he now gives the other player who did not do anything a red card, now this is where the VAR gets in because it will help the referee to know whether he made the right decision or not and if he didn't make the right decision he can now correct the mistake. This is what i think technology should be used for , i do not know what other people might say, but if they do not agree it is fine but if they do agree with me it is also fine because the angle or view we see things is not the same way another person might see his or her own, people's reasoning or perspective differs.

  • GOOD DAY TOPICAL TALK today is versatile_robin from Nigeria I am here to explain the choice I chose on the weekly poll.
I chose that technology should play a main role in modern sport by helping athletes perform safely and to decide outcomes more safely not to support and enhance performance.
sport is a physical activity which plays an important role in our health. Each sport has specific rules whereby every competitor abides and adheres to.
    Now,
Technology has played an important role in our lives in many aspects like banking, hospitals (for scanning diagnosis),etc
But we are talking about the sport aspect like improving safety and deciding outcomes more accurately than to enhance someone's performance in sports. When sports is used in the sport aspect to improve performance, it becomes cheating and disobedience to the lay down rules abided by the game thereby bringing out unfair result maybe in competitions, tournaments and friendly match.
But if we use technology in the good aspect for saving lives and bringing out more accurate answers they will be less accidents and complains. I hope you find my thought, beneficial and helpful.
    THANKS!!!

  • Honestly in my own opinion i think more that technology has come to help athletes perform better than their predecessor, the works of technology have made the minds and bodies of athletes ready for the game ahead of them, the use of VR training and body sensors have improved the way athletes train, and endure what their about to face.

  • In the poll, I chose two options which were to help athletes participate more safely and to decide outcomes more accurately. Firstly, I prefer that technology is able to help athletes participate more safely because no matter what, health is the best wealth. No matter how good or talented or athletic you may be, once you are injured or sick, you become less effective in that area of sport you specialise in. Now that we have access to technology, it will go a long way in helping athletes keep safe while participating in sports. An example is the smart helmets in American football. These helmets help measure the force of head impacts and if the head is hit a little bit too hard, the medical team is alerted immediately. This has gone a long way in helping athletes avoid severe head or brain damages. Secondly, technology should also be used to decide outcomes more accurately to avoid any mistakes while recording marks. There are automated machines that can help check the results. I do not agree with the other option which is enhancing and support performance. In my own opinion, that is cheating because I feel athletics should be based on your own physical talents and skills without any additional help.

  • the whole point of technology in modern sports should be to boost the performance of the athlete used only in training and to develop his or her current capabilities it should not be used during the event so as to get fair results.

  • I actually cannot ignore anyone of them since all of them are efficient.

    To decide crucial outcomes accurately.
Technology helps us make every game fair to satisfy the fans and audience. For example, in the World cup 2018, Russia decided to use the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) to analyze the referee decisions accurately. This helped the referee to see the players from different angles and take the most precise decision.

    To help athletes preform safely.
For sure, physical health is extremely important for any athlete and technology provided us with the best tools. For example, in 2018, the Liverpool player, Virgil Vanik used motion sensors to monitor his movement during training. Fortunately, they alerted Jurgen Klop (the captain of Liverpool) that Virgil increased his training time and he trained a lot and this could cause an injury in his knees. Depending on this data, he started decreasing the training and in fact he succeeded to avoid the injury.

    To support and enhance performance.
In 2021, a cyclist called Christian Form used the Digital Twin to improve his performance. He used data from the sensor devices on his body and on the bike to analyze his performance and correct his body position. The result was enhancing his speed by 5% and reducing air resistance.

In the English league, there are many clubs that use all of them combined such as Manchester city. Managers use the GPS tracking technique on their players so that they can track their performance and get alerted if there is any injury, enhance their performances and managers can change their tactics.

  • I think technology's role in modern sport should be to help athletes perform safely.
I personally believe in safety first and I think that athletes should have tech to help them perform safely because if they get injured they might not be able to participate and that would disappoint millions and could cause tons of pain.
To be honest, this question was a close one for me but like I said, the important thing is that no one gets hurt.

    1. Can you explain a bit more about why you say the question was a close one?

      1. By close one I mean it was a hard one for me to answer becuase I do think that tech should help decide outcomes accurately but at the end I would rather a game be slightly inaccurate than someone get injured.

  • I agree with the first option because some of it could have a heart monitor on it or it could have a reminder stuff on it. It could also use safe stuff to remind them safe for a reason if that person has asthma that technology can remined them to go quick and get the inhaler

    1. Can you share some other examples of how it could ensure athletes are kept safe?

  • Technology must be used in the three and if you don't agree I will explain for each one.

First, to help athletes preform safely, technology can help stop heal injuries or even know if the player can't complete a race by observing his heartbeats or something. In a marathon a runner might be so desperate to complete the marathon even when he is tired it might end his life, but he doesn't know but technology will so it can save lives in fact I don't think it is an option to use technology here it is a must.

Second, to decide outcomes more accurately, it is already done with the var, and we have seen how good it is because our eyes and brains can trick us and they are not perfect, so I don't think anyone disagree in this point.

Last but not least, to support and enhance performance, in this one it can be used but with limits and the most important one is everyone can use and afford it and if not, it is cheating so that everyone would be equal and the only winner is the one that trained hardly and is skilled.

    1. Which do you consider the most important?

      1. Although all of them are important, the most important on is to help athletes preform safely because this helps lives which is very important and curtail but deciding the outcome more accurately can be made by humans although may take time but not so curtail to be done very fast.

Also improving the performance isn't that very important because if we allowed the technology that everybody can afford so then the skill would still win the technology is for the people watching and the hype and still the same person would win if we removed the technology and even if technology would change the results I don't think it is worth a life if we don't use technology safely so if we need to choose of coarse saving a life is more important.

  • I believe that technology in sports should be used for the safety of athletes because at the end of the day, it's the different athletes from different teams that we support, whether it's rugby, football, or even ice curling. If technology wasn't used for the safety benefit of players, what is the point of even having it? For example, what if there was no technology used to provide procedures for Formula One drivers? It would create a sense of unease and worry for the player as they don't know whether the risk they take to win is so important. Technology can help create safety guidelines for athletes because it is able to calculate the possible risks that could be caused by a sport.

    1. Hi freespirited_weaver, I agree with your comment because I think it's really important to think about all the positive things that technology has done for us in sporting aspects, and how much safer certain sports have become.

For example, imagine how dangerous diving, as a sport, might be if there was no, or very limited, technology involved. I don't think many people would do diving then, just because of the increased risk factor related to a lack of technology.

So, I think that safety and injury prevention are huge positive factors that technology can offer.

  • I think it should be used to help athletes understand the greatest outcome or if you can get ingured

  • I think technology's main role in modern sport should be to help athletes perform safely, because health is more important than winning any competition. I don't see the point of being number one if it leaves you in a fragile state. While the thrill of the race is exciting, participants should be able to enjoy the process of training just as much. Personally, I would be devastated to learn that by winning a competition I pushed myself too far. Sure, seeing how far the human body can go with the help of technology is fascinating, but I believe that the risks are too high. Also, it is more impressive to break a record because of your own skills, rather than due to extra help from technology. That being said, technology being used for the well being of athletes could mean them performing for more years. Their career could expand. For example, there are special running shoes that help accommodate people that have had an injury in the past. It helps them not feel any pain back pain or knee pain while sprinting, or afterwards, whereas with normal ones they would have had to stop a lot sooner. Otherwise, they most likely would have felt terrible in the aftermath.
I think sports should be an activity people could join knowing that if something happened and they got injured, they would also have the resources to receive treatment. Even better, they should be getting the reassurance that there are ways of preventing accidents from happening, because it shouldn't be all or nothing.

    1. I agree with you astounding_orchard. Safety is way more important than winning. I believe that athletes in every game should prioritise their safety and having fun other than winning. And I believe that no athlete will want to be a winner on a hospital bed with lots of injuries🤕 that might bring them to the end of their sports career.
Lots of devices have been made to make sports safer. Some of them include:
      - Heart rate and fatigue monitors .
      -Smart shoes.
      -Smart mouth guards.
      -Smart helmets.

Technology has really improved the safety of sports, but I do not understand why some people are against it, but I will like to hear their opinions on why they believe sports is better without technology.

  • I just agree with the last one because the human cannot give the outcomes accurately but the technology can give it very accurately

So l think the last one should be the main role of technology in morden sport

    1. I agree with you, but I don't think we should rely completely on technology for the accuracy of athletes outcomes reason being that technology was made by humans and humans can make mistakes so technology cannot be relied on fully. And according to my research, technology can be relied upon for over 70% to 90% for the accuracy of athletes performance.

      1. Hi, that's an interesting point! Can you share your research with us?

  • I believe to help athletes perform safely because some sports are dangerous such as formula 1 and ski-ng so technology's job is to keep the athlete safe thank you.

  • I think technology should only be used to help sport athletes perform the sport that they are playing safely because I think that it is unfair for some athletes to have really good tech and some other athletes not to have good tech. I’m not saying the person with the good tech will certainly win but it gives them a better advantage.

  • I think that AI should be to help athletes preform safely because in F1 they need a halo for the top of the car that you will enter in there for if they have an accident then they will have a lower chance of a serious injury or possible DEATH!
And also in football you need to wear shin pads so that if you get kicked in the shin then you will have a lower chance of getting a broken leg or any type of fracture.

  • I think that technology main role in modern sports Is to help athletes perform safely because people get injured during sports so technology is meant to help prevent/avoid injuries rather than helping to cheat.

  • In my opinion, I think that technology used in modern day sport should be used to help athletes to perform more safely. Although some people think using technology in sports is seen as cheating, I don't think using it to perform safely in particular is wrong. From what I think, using it to enhance performance and make more accurate decisions is a bit close to cheating in some way, because it enables the person using tech to actually increase their agility, speed and strength to have advanced benefit over others.

  • Speaking for myself, technology should decide more outcomes other than enhancing the performance of athletes. Through technology, the real records of games would be analyzed without errors. With reinforces to my initial point, there will be proof of every second and minute during the game. Had it been technology ceased to be in existence, indiviaduls can cheat and get away with it. Consider a race, had it been photo-finished cameras were absent, the photo-finish judge would not be able to determine who crossed the finish line first when the race appears to be a tie. Thanks to this technolgy, officials can look at the exact moment a runner crosses the finsh line beacuse it captures thousands of frames per second when in use.
If technology's main function was to provide precise recordings of results, sports would be enjoyable as it would proffer accurate outcomes that are reliable. This is what I suggest the main role of technology should be in sports.😊

  • Technology main role in modern sport should be to act as anything that allows you to get, importantly more result out of the same effort, it should remove the unfairness and not humanity.
Technology should focus on helping athletes perform safely ,Technology such as mouthguards and advance/high tech helmet can be used to detect when an athlete is exhausted mentally, while biomechanical analysis check movement that lead to long lasting injury.
some of the advantage of the sport technology includes:
    1) it increases the level of performance and safety
    2)it improves better coaching
3)it increases your fans and content if you are a social media type.
As we all know everything that has an advantage must have a disadvantage.
1)The cost of the advance equipment is too high
2)It could capture huge amount of health information that is meant to be private.

  • I think it should be used to keep the athletes safe.Because they are there to entertain us but they are also human a deserve to not be injured well they do the thing they love.I don't care if it make the sport boring as long as the athletes enjoy it an they are safe

  • I think that tech in sport should be used to help support the athletes but nothing else as some may see it as unfair as it may enhance the opponent. Although some may disagree as some tech helps to know if the athlete is about to get hurt which wouldn't affect the game play of the others instead if everyone wore something that helped support them like knowing if they are going to get injured then it would be okay. But some tech may not help support everyone and may be seen as cheating but if that tech was banned people may say that the excitement of sport would not be there but the safety would but still people are there for what they expected to see so if changes were made people may not pay to see the sports therefore no improvements can be made. Overall , it's how you see it but in my opinion tech can be used in sport to help support those but not enhance them as people may consider it as cheating but also people should be able to give ideas so creativity is not cancelled out of the sports. But in the end it is your opinion as either way people will always disagree and there will always be pros and cons of having tech in sport but it is ALWAYS important to understand others opinions and where they are coming from instead of just ignoring their opinion and saying you are right as there is always pros and cons to those opinions which cannot be changed but can be influenced or shaped.

  • I believe that all points are defendable in a way, such as to help athletes perform safely as it can advocate for safety across all sports and reassure aspiring athletes in their safety . However, to support and enhance performances can be argued to be able to benefit undiagnosed athletes who may suffer from an untraceable mental disorders or illnesses to encourage them to their full potential.subsequently, technology can help accurately score outcomes to make it fair amongst other players as long as there is no damages caused towards other factors such as social or environmental.

  • To help athletes perform more safer and to improve performance so they get better rankings but It does count as cheating and it’s not good using tech like that instead use their own skills so it’s fairer and more better to use that’s why using tech shouldn’t be allowed in sports because it doesn’t make it fairer it just ruins the sport that they are doing that’s my reasoning on tech in modern sports bye 👋 have a nice day

  • Technology in sports should prioritize to athletes perform safely , for instance Bo Jackson had their career ruined by injuries . This example explains that talent is not only important but without safety, best athletes can lose . This matters because athletes may have a passion in sports for a long time career so these injuries not only cause damage physically but mental health too. If technology focuses on preventing the athletes, it actually supports equal opportunity even in Paralympics and physical fitness plays a crucial role in sports. Fewer injuries means the athelete can train , practice a lot and perform well .

    1. Thanks trustful_performance! I would like to here from you have technology would specifically helped with Bo Jackson and his injuries - what do you think?

  • Personally, I agree that tech should be used for making fair decisions because if the tech was use for enhancing performances, some people would get an unfair advantage or the system might glitch. Also, tech can be used for making athletes perform safely, but hat links to making fair decisions. Like in football, if it is a hard tackle, They get a yellow/red card.

  • I think tech should be used to help in every way possible so it can improve the sport but if we use it to much tech will takeover the sport and make it unfair to the not as rich countries or teams.

  • i think safety comes first in sport.

  • safety is first because if someone gets injured people wont want to play the sport anymore

  • safety is first because if someone gets injured people wont want to play the sport anymore

  • safety is first because if someone gets injured people wont want to play the sport anymore

  • I agree with all the opinions but i support the one where it should make the sports more fair the most.

  • that it should be safe for everyone that is doing sports

  • I agree with all the options because it helps making the game more fair and enjoyable for watchers

  • I believe that safety is the most important as it is crucial that lives are prioritised over a game as if there was a life altering event but it could of been prevented then it should be invested in

  • I think that people should enjoy sport because they like it not because they are forced to do it. Technology can be used to help improve how you do sports but you should be able to choose if you want to use. It is always important that people get to choose because everyone can be their self so you should respect what other people like.

  • Sports is of course to test one's fitness, ability, passion, skill, you name it, and technology is just a factor introduced to aid our abilities. Option A seems to be a solid answer because safety in sports needs to be prioritized very importantly as to the fact that countless lives could be lost by playing a game they love, that is why technology is there. Also to decide outcomes more accurately, not as important to me as A because as much as the game is played to win too, technology can only play its part in this, like VAR in football and Hawk's Eye in tennis, they are there to aid what we cannot see or replay. So for me, I think technology's main role is to help athletes perform more safely

  • I think technology should prioritise the athlete's health because sport is an activity we do to improve our skills and talents. I don't think that human health should be affected when performing sport. Sport isn't meant to be dangerous. Technology can help us in this aspect by assisting in creating a safe zone in order to minimise the number of injuries that could occur during sport. Examples of these technology are:
    1. Recovery tools/equipment
2.Data driven insights on athlete's physiology
    3.Heart rate monitors
    4. Sleep trackers
I think technology should be able to aid in health because there wouldn't be a point of performing sports if athletes' health are not guaranteed to an extent.

  • From my perspective "to help athletics perform safely" is technology's main role because it's prevent health injury that is more important than a match .If this becomes main role, every single player will get rid off illness, most common health issues.Smart AI assistant especially for health, smart footwear to prevent skid on ground.etc helps.

  • I am In the middle I think technology is good to outcome decisions and not cause fights about the rules but I don't think it is a good idea because sometimes the players don't agree with it and i think sometimes it causes fights because they don't agree with it

  • I think Technology helps athletes perform safely by preventing injuries and by acting as a "shield" to protect them. It not only protects them, but also creates a sense of positiveness that will make them think "I might not face any trouble, I'm safe".According to me, failures are the situation from which we can make a come back but injuries are situations where we can't even try to make a come back.

One of the greatest American football specialist Gale Sayer, known for his greatest running backs in NFL history lost his entire career because of injury. He is not just a football player but a history- maker who was the youngest inducted into the pro football hall of Fame at the age of 34. If this technology would have been existed in Sayer's era, he might be created continuous World Records.

Also in cricket, We have these kind of great Legends. The story of Phillip Hughes, legendary Australian cricketer is deeply emotional that made me cry .He was the youngest test Cricket centurion who punched with his bat on March 2009, at just 20 years. His life incident is one of the most heart breaking tragedy in the history of modern sport. On November 25 ,2014 during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney ground, he was struck in the neck by a bouncer ball while batting and unfortunately he lost his life. If this Technology helped him on that day, one legend's life will be saved! So, modern technology can save life!

    1. Good comment with relevant examples.

    2. I love your comment can you tell me more.

  • I think that technology can be used if it is just in such a way that provides safety in some extreme sports. I do agree that some technologies can be unfair and alter the outcomes a little bit too much but that shouldn't mean a blanket ban on all technology in sports in general. You can alter the outcomes in certain sports if it means more people survive and get through the sport without injury.

  • In this quiz I have chosen options A and C. And my answer is based on my actual opinion. Technology must be implemented in some sports. Given the fact that tech isn't always unfair or playing with advantage, it can also be progress and improvements.

As far as I am concerned, technology in soccer/football, means fairer results. For example VAR, helps the referee to observe deeply an exact performance and determine whether if it is foul or a moderated conduct. In the opposite situation, not having that technology could be unfair. For instance, a player might be sent off by the referee with no VAR assistance and it isn't her/him fault. But with the Video Assistant Referees, movements are watched more simply.

In case A, to ensure players safety, it should be compulsary to introduce any kind of technology that assist when health is in risk. It isn't cheating, it is prevention.

    Thanks!

  • Originally I was torn between deciding outcomes more accurately and to help athletes perform safely, but I realised that the health and safety of athletes should obviously be the main priority, their lives and health are worth way more than our entertainment, sure improvement of their performance is the athletes main goal but at the cost of your life and health its not worth it, especially in cases like the para-olympics where athletes are constantly pushing themselves to their limits, and battling with their conditions. Tech should focus on allowing them perform at their best without risk of burnout or worsening their conditions, no one wants to hear that their favourite athlete had to get pulled out of the olympics because of a health issue that would be heartbreaking, for the athlete and, the fans, and if tech can stop that from happening then by all means make it the priority.

  • I agree because technology is really good for sports. It can tell if someone actually pushed you or you decided to fall on your own to get penalty or free kick. So technology is not really cheating but helping in my own opinion. This is why technology should be allowed in sports.

  • I think technology can definetly be used in sport to perform safetly, many people dont compete in sport because they are scared of getting injured, by using technology to make sport safer more people are included and have a chance of enjoying the sport!

  • I agree because... I agree because there are both positive and progressive aspects here, so I agree with you, but technology should not be turned on at all. It would be better to chat with those who do not have technology. Okay, thank you.

  • She knows them what they are supposed to do more accurately and how to avoid injuries and how they deal with an injury or something like that, and also you calculate for them the diet that they are supposed to walk on so that their body adjusts with this sport and what are the appropriate places to practice this sport, and if you want to practice it with a captain, they will bring you a famous captain's number or on the specifications that you want, a captain, a girl or a famous boy, or not expensive or cheap and this is my personal opinion
    Bye bye

  • i think that technology should help decide outcomes so for example it could help referies make an accurate decision.

    1. I agree because... I think they should use technology in there and it will help....but i also think that the better option is then when everyone get the limitations to where is use technology and where not🤗 so that will be a good and fair decision 🙃

  • I thought A because it will help them and will keep them safe when they are doing it.

  • I feel in modern sports, technology's greatest hero is not the scoreboard, it's the safety. As an athlete, we push ourselves to the extreme, but innovation and technology should shield them, not shortcut them. Mark Boucher an cricketer, who faced a small eye injury and lost his career due to that injury, most importantly he was only few wickets away from making a record that the sport had ever witnessed. So, I feel injuries are silent saboteurs. Capable of ending career and erasing years of dedication. Smarter equipments and real time health monitor turns these threat into manageable challenges. Safety allows athletes to take risk, push limits, and grow without fear. When health is protected, every strategy, every performance, and every human success becomes meaningful. Technology is not just about breaking records, to safeguard the courage of athletes in sports.

  • hello! I do agree that we should have technology because it might make the world a better place it also will make it safer for the athleetes in challenges!

    1. Can you explain how technology makes it safer for athletes in challenges?

  • I believe technology used for safety will not affect how the game is played however it will cause significantly less injuries and deaths suffered by athletes for example concussion sensing headgear and mouth guards which ensure a risk-free game.

  • As a topical talker, I think that modern technology is meant to be used to help athletes to run safely and not to enhance their running because of the following reasons. Firstly, permit me to use this language but this is the 'Gen Z' era where things are now so improve and things are busy and everyone just wants to win or get everything right but we should slow down sometimes and realise that there are some problems that we could face from enhancing of athletes performances. Think about this, when we use enhancing technologies, we are no longer testing ourselves but we are testing the technologies and based on my research, it shows that 75% to 85% of the world uses some form of technology to run and technologies might not only be smart watches or phones but there are also PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs) like steroids and research has shown that steroids might be helpful to us but there are more disadvantages than advantages, for example, weight gain, insomnia, feeling restless, mood change, sweating a lot and many more. Secondly, research shows that before technology was created, athletes had more endurance and you could really see if they were fast or not but nowadays, you could never know if an athlete is actually fast, they were also more physically fit, could adapt easily to more tougher conditions etc. So I think that technology should be used as a shield and not a sword for things like injury prevention, workload monitoring and environmental protection. yes, I know that many may say technology must be used bet we need to think 'do we really need the enhancement'.

  • Tech is a good thing to use it’s improvement is good and it’s better to use but human skill can technically be better then technology so either any could be better bye thanks for reading this hope u have a good day 👋

  • I thought that all of these options had reasons to agree or disagree to them but the one I picked was that modern technology helps athletes to perform safely. My reasoning behind this was because that health and safety are the most important part of athletics. Without the safety of those working hard for their country, we wouldn't be able to have the competitive sports we have today.

However, some people may argue that people in the sport industry, they are already risking their lives doing dangerous sports such as:
    . Gymnastics
    . Football
    . Synchronised swimming
    And so many more.

I believe that the second option (supporting and enhancing the performance) is also better due to modern technology. This can be because of many things positive and negative. An example of a positive cause is that it is not classed as cheating but can also improve stamina and speed.

An example of a negative cause is that the richer countries can afford better equipment to enhance training whereas the poorer countries will not be able to gain the better equipment leading to unfair advantages / disadvantages.

In conclusion, I believe that in the Winter Olympics, the competitors and coaches should only use the same equipment to make it fairer for everyone.

Thank you for reading my opinions. Have a great day!

  • I agree that technology should be used to help players perform safely because when a player is kicked or pushed another player, the technology will be able to review the footage to see what really happened to the player so that`s why technology should be used in sports.

  • Technology is around us everywhere like buying anything from other places or website like Amazon ,but technology might be used in sports . The answer is yes team already are using it like in football some club's stadium are officially made with high-rated technology.

But there is other types of technology that help the club to win every single match this type of technology is officially banned from sports ,but it can't be easily spotted it high-quality equipment

To conclude, technology is so useful and important in sports but some clubs don't use it wisely

  • in my opinion i agree that we should tech because it enhance people ability and also prevent people getting hurt

  • i think to enhance and decide out comes other wise people who train on their own would have to use technology to complete it / their training do they enhance andhelp accurately decide the outcomes

  • i agree with option three because if we have lying people then it won't be fair for the other team.

  • I think that safety is a big problem in every sport and if someone can menage to use technology for improving the quality and safety of the game, it should completely be supported and financed

  • I think technology's main role in modern sports should only be for helping athletes perform safely.I also think technology should be used to support and enhance athletes performance but not when they are on the field just while there training because this will support and enhance there performance.Technology should not be used to enhance performance on the field because this would defeat the purposes of playing to show skill and have fun.
But that is what I think and feel free to comment what you think about this.

  • I think technology should be used to help athletes perform safely, because honestly safety should always be first priority.
Enhancing performance or predicting accurate outcomes are no where near as important as a human beings health and safety.

National Library of Medicine shows that 19% of USA athletes were injured during 2024's winter Olympics. That is a staggering stat, and shows how much improving technology in hopes of increasing safety would help our Olympians. 1 in 5 people should not be getting hurt over such a short period of time, especially in a professional setting. Improving safety technology could help to prevent this.

Not only would improving safety technology help Olympic athletes, it would also help students competing in school sports, and less professional athletes. Think of how many of your friends or family members have sustained sports injuries. That's quite a quantity, isn't it? By focusing resources and time on improving safety in the sports field, we could help so many more people in general.

On top of these arguments, supporting performance and predicting outcomes can often interfere with the integrity of the sport. Enhancing performance can change the nature of a sport, or can make the field unfair as people do not have access to the same technology; predicting outcomes might discourage fans from watching games, as if you already know what going to happen, what's the point? The fun is in the suspense, and that's what holds your attention.

Therefore, athletes safety far outweighs any other options. Thank you for reading!

  • I think technology's main role in modern sports should be able to keep athletes safe and also train them. I think this because training athletes isn't cheating. It just makes them perform better, and it also takes time. Another reason is because it could keep athletes safe while training or in a match if they get injured. If it's a smart robot, then it can probably predict a situation where they will get injured.

  • I chose A. I chose A because I think it's better to use technology for safety so it can keep the people safe. Some technology that already existed like an x-ray. Also, if people get hurt and there's nobody there the technology can keep them alive.

    1. Can you explain more on how you think technology keeps people alive?

  • I think that technology should only be used to help and assist in the area of safety. Technology can malfunction causing more damage than help. Although it helps with accuracy and improvement, it takes the thrill and excitement out of games.

    1. Can you say more on how a technology malfunction can cause more damage than help?

  • The reason why modern technology is so advanced is To help athletes have better performance. that’s mostly the point of technology in modern sports so they can be safe and to get higher rankings for the athletes bye 👋 👋 have a good day and be safe

  • I think that we shouldn't change the sport but make sure that people are as safe as they can be without ruining the game. But if your not doing professional sport then you can use any thing you want.

  • I think technologies main role in sport should be to ensure the safety of athletes while performing because their long term health matters a lot more than results. Tools like concussion detection can reduce the risk of serious injuries. Sport is meant to test human abilities, not risk life long injuries however sometimes dangerous situations do happen, having this technology as extra precautions will greatly secure the safety of athletes and allow them to perform to their maximum.

  • I think that technology should help give accurae judgements on the performance of the players to make sure that all players and teams get equal treatments. When the final outcomes are in the hands of humans,we may see bias and we need a fair judge.Although technology can't guarantee this but at least it make things omehow more equal and if technology was programmed to be biased, then people will complain and things will be scandalized.Tha is why I think that technology should be used to decide outcomes more accurately.

  • In my opinion, safety should take priority over enhancing performance and even deciding outcomes more accurately. I think that if this is not done, it could potentially seem like the safety and health of the athletes is less important than the game itself. My personal belief is that human life should take priority over entertainment or fairness, and therefore I believe that safety should be the main use of technology within sports.

    1. Can you give some examples of how technology supports safety within sports?

  • Technology's role in deciding outcomes in sports gives the most impact out of all of them---but first I will explain why I picked it.

Technology being used to ensure safety can be said as the main role in modern sports, although we dont usually see it in competitions, but this is a really important aspect for an athlete's training. Athletes often push themselves too hard and injuring themselves, some cases even lead to an abrupt end to their careers. Well, this said can be avoided by using advanced medical tech such as a portable ultrasound to diagnose an injury on field, and to detect other injuries like overworking your muscle, or fracturing a bone. Supporting and enhancing an athlete's performances is also one other role technology takes on. From doing cryo theraphy to monitoring muscle movements from high speed cameras, allowing to review and analyze---this is has launched modern sports from sports back then by a landslide.

But, the msot important role in my opinion is to decide outcomes. There are many bribing scandals in the sports world, which makes humans biased and often not reliable to decide on a very important decision like choosing the next olympic champion. So, to make data more accurate and easy to decide, robots can be used to playback footage and detect scores. Since robots have no bias, it is easy to understand why this is more fair. I think this is the most important role because without a fair playing field, what is the enjoyment that the players and us, the viewers get?

  • I believe that every athlete deserves the highest chance of safety that can be provided, and if this includes technology then so be it. Technology is only unfair when feeding into finance gaps, so teams with more funding get better quality equipment that other teams can themselves afford. If every sporting team is given standard equipment with the highest technology that supports safety I do not think any other technology on a person is needed. Obviously VAR is a different matter altogether as it creates a higher level of fairness. I am also aware of sports that my previous opinion is not feasible for, such as Formula 1 etc. But definitely, I stand by my point that the main priority and usage of technology should be to ensure safety across all areas of sport fairly.

  • I think the major role in modern sports should be to keep the athletes safe and reduce the risk of injuries because sports can cause a lot of health challenges, and the increase in technology can help perform sports safer and keep the athletes healthier for the next competition.

  • In my opinion I think technology in sports should be used to keep the athletes safe. If technology is able to protect athletes , either from injuries or crazy fans/ crowds breaking into the field then it should be used . I would prefer knowing that I’m protected when I am playing a sport rather than not knowing when I could be in hurt while playing a sport that’s supposed to be enjoyable and safe

  • I strongly believe that technology's main role in modern sport is to help athletes perform safely because it plays an important role in protecting the body. It improves physical health which is what allows athletes to train and compete efficiently.

What is the value of breaking a record if the price is an injury that harmed an athlete? NOTHING! Breaking records means nothing if athletes are left injured. Technology's main role in modern sport is to protect their health and body so that athletes can have the chance to focus on training more. From helmets to wearable sensors, technology also reduces the risk of injury. For example, smart watches, they have sensors that can detect the heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature. If an unexpected reading was detected, it gives a warning, which would help to know about the injury early and take an action before it gets worse.

Another reason for my view is that it helps athletes to recover quickly by reducing pain and tracking heath data. It may provide some methods which may make recovering quicker.

However, others might feel that technology's main role is to enhance performance because nowadays, athletes usually perform better when using technology equipment.
I disagree with them because health is the "FOUNDATION".

  • To help others perform safely so they don’t get hurt so then they don't have any problems so that’s what modern technology should be for bye everyone who read this have a good and nice day

  • I chose to help athletes perform safely because if technology does not help in improving safety for athletes then what is the use of it being used and still getting the athletes injured instead of it improving there health status and helping in their safety.

  • Technology is an helpful of making things easier for humans but also technology consist of rules for using and if we use technology in an weird way it can lead to problems that will technology less helpful or useless the main role of technology is helping not cheating like if some body use technology to help him in making the assignment this is helping but if he is making it for ton't use his mind this cheating which can lead him to failure in exams

  • In my opinion, technology main role should be to help athlete's perform safely. I seen countless of athletes retire because of their injuries. If technology could prevent that, imagine how many athletes can be saved. One of my country's basketball athlete, Kaleb Ramot Gemilang tore his achilles tendons during a national training camp in Australia, causing a long-term serious injury. He had to do surgery and rest for 8-12 months. In conclusion, I think that's it's important if we use technology to help athlete's perform safely. Technology can warn them of health issues before it worsen, prevent athletes from practicing any longer because it could risk their safety, and make a routine that won't overworked them.

  • I think technology's main role in modern sport should be to help athletes perform safely, because protecting athletes' health is essential for long participation and fair competition. For example, wearable technology and GPS trackers can monitor heart rate, workload and fatigue, helping coaches prevent overtraining and reduce injury risk. In contact sports, technology like concussion monitoring and improved protective equipment had made sport safer without changing the core skills required.

However, technology also plays an important role in supporting and enhancing performance. Training apps, video analysis and virtual coaching tools allow athletes to analyze their technique, set goals and improve decision-making. This links to the idea of accessibility, as these tools can give more athletes opportunities to develop their skills, even if they don't have access to elite coaching.

Finally. technology helps decide outcomes more accurately, such as goal-line technology and VAR in football. These system reduce human error and help ensure results are fair, which protects the integrity of sport. That said, accuracy should not come at the cost of enjoyment or creativity, so technology should support officials rather than replace them.

Overall, technology works best when it balances safety, performance and fairness, enhancing sport without taking away the human skill and excitement that make it meaningful.

  • I believe the overall use of technology in sport should be to protect athletes, as well as improve sporting performance and fairness.

Firstly, protecting athletes is the number one priority. Technology such as better helmets, safer skis, impact sensors, and better medical monitoring can all protect athletes from injury. Sport should challenge individuals, but it should not put them in serious danger, which is why protecting athletes with technology is so important.

Secondly, technology can also be used to improve sporting performance, as long as it is accessible to everyone. Training programs, fitness trackers, and video analysis can all help athletes better understand their bodies and train smarter.
Finally, technology can also be used to improve sporting fairness, such as with VAR or Hawk-Eye systems. Fairness and accuracy are important, especially in close sporting events. However, this should be done in a way that does not slow down the sporting event too much or take away the excitement for fans.

In conclusion, I believe that technology should be used to protect athletes, as well as improve sporting performance and fairness.
