  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because people from 10-13 years are old enough and have got their mind shaped well not still young and they can think outside the box and many studies confirmed the younger you are the more creative you are and the biggest proof that young people are able to give a reasonable logical creative effective opinion is topical talk.

However, others might disagree with me because they might think that young people don't have much experience from the world and didn't see all its cruelness and all that is good and so as a result, they won't be able to judge, but I don't with that because now in this era we have the TV and the TV contains the news channels which says everything and social media which will explain what is going on and show different perspectives so I think after reading this comment you would agree with me.

    1. Thank you for your comment!

    2. Great comment! It is very well structured with proof, statistics and everything. It looks very well thought out.

    3. I definitely agree because we are just old enough to have an impact but also we still have imagination .
Love the comment hope it has an impact !!👍

  • I highly agree that young people should’ve a bigger say in how the news is reported because this might affect their future, education and their life; they mostly rely on social media and some visual platforms which makes news astonishing to young people. However, many people might disagree, but younger generation should know what’s going on worldwide because at a certain point of their lives they would be surprised about how news is like.
People think that younger people should just enjoy their lives without caring about what’s happening around them and actually I don’t believe so. Young people should understand the world and know more about news.

    1. Hi I`m receptive_interaction and I have a question
Should young people spend more time learning about the news, or just focus on enjoying their lives and is it better for young people to enjoy life now, or prepare for the future by following the news

      1. What a great question, it's critical and actually i liked the way you are thinking.
Well, in my comment I explained that young people at a certain point will grow older and start interacting with the news. However, what if they know nothing and should start from a zero point "The Beginning"? They'll be affected and might get depressed because it's their first time thinking about the government globally, the problems that the earth is facing, etc.
So they should start thinking about the news from a younger age.
IS THAT CONCERNING?? If yes for you, then NO for me actually.
Still kids shouldn't spend all their time planning for their future. Even if you want them to, they won't do so.
So what is the best answer to your question?
I'll recommend being moderate, not always on the new and social media trynna know what's happening worldwide; but also not always playing cuz it might affect the kids' future.
Maybe the best way to do it, is to keep the kids playing (enjoying their lives) and then grab their attention with some news that you think will help having their attention (e.g. the play store is about to purchase a new, modern, all-gender game by tomorrow) explain to them that this is a type of news and show how it helped to know that there will be something interesting about to happen, but you should mention in a way or another that there might be some disappointing news but still it's important to know them. Then, everyday tell them some news that are capable of understanding to them, but try to keep them a little exciting. Whether the way you say it, or the news itself.

      2. I agree that young people should have a say in the news as we can learn and understand the world around us more. I also agree because what's happening now could and probably will have a big impact on our future . And as we are getting more familiar with our surroundings we should be able to know what is going on and have a say in it.

However, I think some people will disagree because they might think that younger people don't have experience and don't know how to properly comment. Plus they could also think that younger people could find the news upsetting .

But I think younger people should have a say and learn about the news just like other people do.

        1. Can you say more on why you say that young people don't know how to comment on the news?

          1. Hello there
I think why young people don`t know how to comment on the news is mostly because of how they get it or talk about it
Where they get it: Most young people see news on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, these apps show short clips, and not full stories and most young people tend to react without knowing the full picture.
How they talk about it: Instead of writing long thoughts, they usually just drop emojis, one-line statements and jokes making it hard to explain what they really think and giving their audience reading it a different thought and understanding.
Actually it is not like young people are dumb,it`s just the way in which the news comes to them (fast, slow, detailed, incomplete etc.)
            By receptive interaction
            THANKS

    2. I would have to agree with what you said younger people should understand the world and more about news.I believe younger generation should not be left wondering what is going on around them. They should adlest know something about what's going on.

      1. How do you think news can best be relayed to younger generations?

        1. I think news can best be relayed to younger generations by putting it on apps such as TikTok and Instagram.

    3. I agree because young people have developed brain and mindset, you may ask your self why do young people have to know about the news, they have to know the news because of the following reasons:
      1. young people have to know the news because it is said that young people has more developed mindset so thier brain is to fresh to carry so they need to know the news .
2.they can easily understand the news more than adults.
      THANK YOU

    4. I agree because they represent you in the future one day and which makes it better for to avoid distraction in their life.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because we see the world differently, and we understand things like social media and technology really well. For example, if there’s a story about climate change, young people could explain why it’s super important to us and how it affects our future. We could also help make the news more fun and easier to understand for people our age. We care a lot about fairness and honesty, so we could make sure the news is more balanced.

However, others might disagree with me because they might think that young people don’t have enough experience to report on serious news or understand all the details. They might also think that we don’t know how to tell the whole truth without making it sound too simple or one-sided. Some adults might feel like we need to learn more before we can decide what gets reported.

Despite this, I still think we could help make the news better, especially with things like social media, where young people are always talking about what’s important to us.

    1. Thank you for your comment!

  • Hello everyone,
To begin, I agree and disagree in the same time that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because both actually seem to be completely correct. Let me clarify this more...
I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because these young people can have unprecedented ideas and thoughts which would produce more inspiring news. In addition, young people care for social media (which has enough informations about the up-to-minute news), so when they spend a long time on social media, they know important news about the whole world. Thus, young people have the right to share their ideas globally. Also, journalists will benefit in an unbelievable way from them. Not only that, but also this will improve the skill of think critically.

On the other hand, I believe that they shouldn't have a bigger part in how the news is reported as people who participate in reporting the news must have a great experience and knowledge. But young people don't have any experience and are going to judge some situations according to their point of view not from the fact-based perspective.

After all, I would like to say that they have the right to share their thoughts in reporting the news but in a simple part.

    1. Thank you for your comment!

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news because, I think young people are one who are going to face employment issues, climate change issue and so on.... nowdays young people's source of news is social media, their presence in social media helps them to share their views or perspectives and even solutions. however others might disagree with me that this generation's trust only the news from socila media, yes I too rely on social media after somedays I realised it, that social media won't tells the full story, I think let the young generation explore news through different mediums they will find the way

    1. Thank you for your comment! And welcome along.

  • I completely agree with this speech , that is because this sets children to be ready to see the world .
More specifically , I mean , that A LOT of children didn't get the chance to see what's happening outside of their room .
How bad people could be ? How to say my opinion and highlight it to everyone ? Those question must be answered before they are sent to work or manage a family ; however , if this was not done , they wouldn't manage to do anything ; it would just be a never ending loop of bad news and mental issues ; but , if this was done , you would see the child's mind working continuously , always asking questions , searching for someone to answer them so they get more knowledge , even when they grow up , they would be more familiar with the responsibilities they have and how to manage and balance their life the best way possible .

Some one would not agree with me , saying that children " are not capable " of stating such news and , that is MAY spread fake news , which I see is a VERY broad thought as even adults , who are new to this may do a mistake .
That is my opinion , Thanks .

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because young people are constantly getting more aware of their surroundings, so treating them like mature adults would be the best way of educating them about wars, conflicts and everything occurring around their region.
In fact, I think that young people really changed. In the past, things like the internet or phones didn't exist, so children couldn't access platforms like Facebook, Instagram or tiktok, which are mostly appropriate for adults. So, as time passed and children had access to news online through doom scrolling on tiktok or viral Instagram posts, they have grew to be very aware of different types of news. If we'd compare how children in the past acted differently from how children nowadays do, we would notice great differences in how they play, react, reply, and think. It's almost as if social media had got its way in shaping young people's personalities. Young people went from innocent and naive to mature, aware, and charismatic, which is both good and bad. It's good because when children become aware of news that could affect them, they learn how to become successful leaders of the future and mature decision-makers, but this could also have a negative impact on their lives, as learning about news from topics could make children...too aware?
children should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because this deeply affects their mindsets. Raising children on hatred and bias from the news or what their parents had taught them builds definite beliefs they "must" follow.

    1. Thank you for your comment!

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in news because issues related to AI, mental health and exam pressure are actually felt by the young people but they are not being heard. So, if young people had a bigger say, news would reflect real time stress that the students feel.
And if news only celebrates leaders and politicians, young people may feel that their everyday struggle is of no use. So, if young people had a bigger say, it builds them confidence and responsibility.
Young people live in a digital world. So, most of us gets news through social media. So, if we are involved in reporting the news, we make it more relatable and easy to understand.
However, some people might not agree because reporting the news requires a lot of experience and responsibility. Sometimes, young people react emotionally and report news influence by the trends. Thats why young people shouldn't replace journalists, but they should be included by working along the experts.

    1. Hi Shri,

Really good comments! Very insightful and I totally agree that young people will feel the impacts potentially more than any other generation. You will grow up in a period of disruption with technological advancements (including AI and maybe quantum computing as well as various others) which will have consequences for you.

Perhaps I can prompt you a little by asking you what message you would want to give those in leadership regarding specific actions they can take to give youths a larger voice?

      1. I think leaders can give young people a stronger vioce by creating structured spaces where their input is taken. For example, since a majority of young people get their news online, leaders could form 'youth advisory panels'. These panels would not replace journalists but provide insights on how politics and news coverage affect students in real life. Another step is supporting student led journalism and verified youth reporting programs in schools where young people can learn fact checking and ethics. This would allow young people to share how issues like ai, mental health and exam pressure affect them, while still ensuring accuracy and responsibility. Giving young people a structured voice does not weaken journalism. It strengthens relevance and responsibility for the future.

      2. How can young people demonstrate that their perspectives on news are not only that relevant but also add unique value to society`s understanding of issues like health, education and technology?

    2. I agree because youths are individuals who love to see their efforts appreciated by others which is why prizes can create drive in them. For example, the TOPICAL TALK PLATFORM is a beautiful example where we can talk on our perspectives and try to work towards them. Not only do the older ones have experience, but as you have said about us working with the experts, we can give the new energy and combine it with experience giving a new perspective fit for everyone. I still support you in saying that we young people should be able to have an involvement in the news, like maybe creation of a small segment dedicated to only news for other children broadcast or even a press company dedicate to us like newspapers among others.

  • I totally agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because the news is meant to represent everyone, not just older generations. Many major issues today (such as climate change, mental health, education and social media) affect young people the most. When the news ignores their voices, it often misses what truly matters to them. For example, topics like youth mental health and climate activism are frequently discussed by young people online and outlets such as the BBC have highlighted how young voices are driving change in these areas.

Having young people involved would also make the news more engaging and relevant. Many young audiences feel disconnected from traditional news because it doesn't speak their language focus on their concerns. Including young perspectives could rebuild trust and encourage more young people to stay informed rather than turning away from news altogether.

However, others might disagree with me because they believe news reporting should be led mainly by experienced journalists. They may argue that older reporters have more knowledge, professionalism and understanding of complex global issues. While this experience is important, it does not mean young people's opinions are less valuable. In fact, combining professional expertise with youth perspectives would create more balanced, inclusive and powerful news reporting for everyone.

  • I concur that young people should be given more representation in deciding how news is delivered because in one way or another it influences our lives directly. Young people live in different worlds especially concerning social media consequently our input will be important in making news more relevant to every one of us. this will also help to create more attention towards issues of concern to us such as health and education. In the other hand others may think the opposite as they believe that news reporting is mainly the responsibility of more mature people. In addition, they might think that we, young people, have non-useful pieces of information.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because some kids watch the news but don't like bits on it because they are too directed at adults. However, others might disagree with me because the news might become more kid orientated.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because if something has happened bad to them and it will create a fire in their heart and that fire won't extinguish until they stop the bad thing being spread this makes them to report valuable thing, however others would disagree with me because young peoples don't have a journalist level experience so this can cause a misinformation but my answer to this is those or young childrens if I was in that situation I just tell the whole truth which actually make sense as when you try to modify your report I just adjust in some scenarios it can lead to a misinformation then just telling a truth will make sense

  • I think that younger people should have a bigger say because they need more attention than older people because they need to adapt to to the reality of the world and to learn from there mistakes

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say then adults because it could have an effect on their future lives for their children and for them to and could make them unhappy and unhealthy which means they could get sick

  • I agree unless all the comments are sensible because everything should be fair and equal.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in the news because they have a creative mind while also 9 to 15 still have a smart brain but may have less creativity then the younger children

Meanwhile, a few people might disagree on this because younger children might chat to older

    1. Interesting, why do you think 9-15 year olds may be less creative?

  • I agree with this statement because they should have their own opinion so that they can say what they think and have their own rights because they are old enough to know what they are saying and they have fresh ideas on what should be done.

    1. I disagree with u. Young people should have their voices heard but we should always remember that older people have more experience and are here to guide us in the right path. We can learn from their mistakes and try to apply it it in the nearest future instead of making opinions and suggestions "BLINDLY" without adequate experience.

  • I agree because they can speak up and express there feelings
and show what they say to other people I think younger people should speak up for them selfs.

  • I agree with this statement because young children have the same rights to do things like adults. They can learn more things and be more serious about things. This will improve the future of children and help them learn important skills that will help them to grow.

Imagine how children can learn from this and help us develop. This idea will be great for the future and new generations of children. This one idea could change humanity forever and ever.It could help the whole world to grow and develop a better life and future. It will also make the world a more better place for everyone.

    1. Good answer, thank you!

  • I’m 9 years old and I am happy with the houses because it could make a huge difference for asylum seeker and refugees who are in need of a place to live. Also if children are saving for a house because of the new houses they can buy a home. The only problem is it will lead to more traffic and more people having accidents and getting more frustrated with traffic.

  • Hi, I think that everyone should have a say and young people should have a say in the news and they already have, but I feel like experts in the subject should still have most of the attention but children should have more than they currently have because they still might know a few things.

  • I agree that young people should get a saying because it gives them a beter chance in the futer
and make them more confident in them selves every one should have an opitunaty
to do something they like and whant to do.

  • Hello everyone,
I agree with young people should have bigger say in how the news is reported because people should speak up if the know something. They should not be quiet or else others will think you don't know anything and they might be starting to say rude things about you. Young people should speak so others can understand you and agree with you. It is good for people to speak when needed to give more examples to others.

We all have the right to speak and you should never be quiet, you should share your ideas with people.

    1. I agree because... that is a really great answer

  • I agree that younger people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because we are also part of a community and we have the right to know what's going on from the world. Adults cannot shield us from all the wars going on in the world forever so it is better to start looking at it now otherwise we will be more shocked when we finally learn about it when we are older. However others might disagree with me because some people might actually not want to know about wars going on in the world and that is okay. Another reason they might disagree with me is because some things are too scary for children to watch especially if the news people are in the site where a major attack has just been preformed.

  • I think some people should be in the news but some children could be silly. I think 10-13 should be on the news because they create new ideas. It could inspire children who want to be news people and help other children follow their dream.

  • I think that young people's people SHOULD have a bigger say because young people should be able to give their say and state their opinion of news and everyone can live in a all rounded world I think maybe people who are not as agree might disagree because they think that people are not all equal but for us i think we have different mindsets.

  • i believe young people should have their say in news because most issues happen on young people such as children damaging their brains by seeing things they shouldnt see at their age and it damages their brain .

children age 10-13 can think outside the box and know what to do and know what is happening in their world young people understand about climate change and more ,they can tell us how it affects our world .

young people are just as important as adults .

  • I agree,
that young people should have a bigger say on the news because young people should have the mentality of thinking outside the box and have better IQ (intelligence quotient) than the older people
young people should have better sayings because in the mordern world of technology young children are exposed to many gadgets like phone, computer, desktop and more which are still under production and manufacturing
with their young and fresh minds they are able to produce enough information in the news because of things there are capable of like memory capacity ,better IQ and more exposure
    experience matters!!!
I hope you agree with me.
    THANKS!!!

  • I agree that young people should have bigger saying in how the news is reported because young teenagers have developed

    1. Hi @placid_statement - you say "young teenagers have developed", can you say more on this?

  • i agree because young people what to know what is happen in the different countries and what is like in the real life for children because the the can not explore the world intil the are adults' they can explor the world

    1. I mean that young people from 11-14 years are old enough and have there mind shaped well not still young. In Nigeria media sources are rapidly increasing. 71% of people believe in online news while 41% prefer social media like; You tube. Maybe we should focusing on every one, no matter age or ability having a say on how news is presented to us or how it informs our opinion.

  • I disagree because most news is about adult’s or news from across the world which doesn’t affect me personally. There is one for this area but nothing serious ever happens and if it serious it in a different area. There was one time some robbers were breaking in cars but that was only once and it was nothing to do with children. The news shouldn’t scare children or make you feel sad.

    1. @empathetic_pigeon why do you think that news across the world not not affect you? is all news bad some news is good?

  • I both agree and disagree as there is nothing wrong with life right now ( for most people) so I feel like changing it would be useless but also its ok because I think (and loads of other people would agree with this aswell), that EVERYONE should have a say because if we want the world to be equal and fair then let everyone have a say!

  • I strongly agree that young generations should have a bigger say in the news cause right now the news articles, headlines and so much are for adults and the news right now is about random debates, country issues like (America declares tariff) and so much other things which aren't that useful for us young people. So I think if young creators collaborated with people like skilled writers and news publishers then I feel like the news would be more interesting and helpful to watch, but even though young creators may lack some experience I believe that with the help of professional writers we can make the news more interesting to watch let me know what you guys think? Signing off: fair minded elephant

  • I believe that young people should have more say when it comes to news. I think that some children don't have enough access to what is going on around the would. It is important for young people to be aware of current events, people and wars. However, it is also important that children are protected from misinformation and harmful content.

What people see online can effect there behaviour, opinions and life. So it is important news reports are regulated to stop children seeing harmful content.

  • I totally agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported due to the fact that they are the future and they are old enough to be introduced in this topics because in my view, young people should not live under a lie but knowing what is happening nowadays in the world. Otherwise when they became adults, they will be shocked about the actuallity.

However, others might disagree with me because they may beleive that it is not necessary to introduce them in relality at a young age but to introduce them when they can understand everything completely. Besides, some people consider that people who report news need to have more knowledge and experience.

    1. Hi responsible_independence - how important is it that young people have more of a say in how the news is reported?

  • I agree that young people should have a say about how the news is reported because young people can go against misleading information about media the can tell people about their opinion in social media,

  • I disagree that young people should have a greater voice in the news. This is because when teens post now in social media sometimes they put false information online. If teenagers can't be trusted to give correct information they can't be trusted to give ideas. If they were to give suggestions in greater news they could possibly start arguments between people that watch news on channels. Additionally teens aren't specialized in collecting data or know how to interview a person. I disagree that teenagers should be allowed to join in professional news by giving ideas.

  • i agree that young people should have a say in the news especially because it might effect them more than adults , most adults have stable lives that have been already set and stable for a while now while young people still have a long way to go in life and are like seeds that will grow into wonderful trees. youngsters have a different view on life sometimes only they can find the bright side in life. many news stations often forget that their target audience isn't only adults plus having a couple young people can be a refreshing change compared to the same people every time

Us young people live in a world where we get everything through the internet so naturally they would have the ability to be able to communicate to other young people and adults in a way both of them can easily understand just like they do in the digital world.

Remember young people are the future so lets have them have a say in this complex world.

  • I agree that young people should have a say when it comes to the news. I agree because young people that live int he now, could make a very big impact when they get older. I live in Georgia.

  • I agree young people should have a bigger say about how the news is reported. I think that because young people have a mind of their own. Kids think differently from adults and in some cases they might have better ideas than adults. It also sets the children up to see the world from a young age. The news is for everyone, not just older people. Many major issues today such as climate change, mental health, education and social media affect young people nowadays. If some news is written for children it might help children with their mental health. Perhaps, if children were given age appropriate news, it wouldn’t be so scary to hear it.

    1. Interesting thoughts lovely_situation - can you say more on how children could be given age appropriate news?

      1. Yes I can, Kids at a very young age aren't shy, but when they grow up they become shy. I think if kids talk at a young age about the news then they would be able to express their feelings better. They would be used to speaking about the news and wouldn’t be shy about it as they become teenagers. If they don’t speak up it might affect their future.

  • I agree that young people should have a biggest say in the news because we are the ones who will live in the future that today's headlines are creating. According to me ,Giving us a voice ensures that news is not just about who has the power today, but about who will inherit the world tomorrow. News is the platform where people with fame like politicians and celebrities are celebrated ,At the same time, if youngsters hits the news headlines ,surely it will develop self confidence to shine better in their future. When a news channel reports about a young mind's talent,It will inspire millions of Hearts and the youngster will get a token of appreciation and recognition. When youngsters hits the headlines, it creates a lifetime moment for them. Some of them think that ,we are too young to understand but our fresh perspective is needed to make the news more honest and hopeful for the future.

  • I agree young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because we could provide a different, youthful perspective on global matters. This is also our future and we are the people who will shape it. For example we should start taking an interest on climate change as our actions could either increase or decrease global warming. That intwines into why I feel education is important as just because we are young that doesn't mean we should try to avoid the news but actually make our voices heard and take a fascination in our world.

    1. Can you give me an example on how young people can decrease global warming?

      1. Hi there,
A way young people could make a difference to global warming is, because we are living in 2026 loads of people are on multiple devices when they are watching only one. This means more energy is being used when it could be prevented.
We could make changes by only using one device at a time which will save more energy. This may seem like a small change but it will create a big difference in the weather if everyone follows this rule. To do even more we could do a universal no devices Thursday unless it is for work. This will also create a positive change in the enviroment.

  • Hello topical talkers, hope you are doing great. I think young people should definitely have a bigger say because the news is often about our future, like climate change or new technology in schools. Sometimes the news can be quite scary or confusing because adults use hard words, so if we helped report it, it might be easier for people our age to understand what is going on.
Also, we use things like TikTok and YouTube more than newspapers, so we could help journalists make the news more interesting for kids so they don't just ignore it. If we don't learn about the world now, we won't be ready to make big decisions when we are older!

    1. Can you give me an example of how journalists could make the news more interesting for young people?

      1. That’s a really good question! I think one way is to change how the news looks. Most news is just big blocks of writing, which can be a bit boring. Journalists could use more infographics or short videos—like the ones we see on TikTok—to show the facts quickly.
For example, if the news is about climate change, instead of just using big words like 'atmospheric carbon levels,' they could show a simple drawing of how the earth stays warm, or a map that shows exactly how our local area might change.

It would also be cool if they interviewed more people our age! If we see someone like us talking about a problem and how they are fixing it, it makes us want to listen more because it feels like it actually matters to our lives."

  • I believe that younger people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because the way news reports are outlined affect the thoughts of the younger generation and their mental health. Sensitive topics such as war, conflicts, and more can lead to children or teenagers to worry about the world and what their own futures may look like.

Another reason why younger people should have a say in the way the news is reported is because some subjects may be too complex for the understanding of the youth since they are still developing and learning how to form their own ideas of how the world works. Broadcasting these reports will not only further confuse children, but will also put them off the news. This leads to their inactiveness with the current events around the world.

Therefore, I think that the some news articles that would be too complex for younger people to understand should be simplified in order for today's generations and the ones to come in the future may realise what actually happens in the world, then have a way to discuss it with the people around them.

    1. Can you give me an example of how you think news should be reported to young people?

      1. I think the news should be reported in a simplified way for those who will potentially find a certain news article confusing or too complex for their understanding. For example, I think that news corporations should hire journalists that are able to make complex subjects understandable for the targeted audience.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because they are the main denominator of people which will be affected by an decisions which happen in our world. Currently, most countries are run by older folks (60-80), this means that they, inherently, do not understand the average youngling. This lack of understanding results in the news misappropriately covering subject matter which isn't useful for younger people. This is mostly the same for institutions, they are run by older folks which cannot understand what the common youngling wants. I should clarify the fact that 'young people' is a very broad definition. I believe that you can start getting in actual leadership positions at at least twenty years old, any other number is too low. However, just having a voice and a platform to express your opinions should be available to anybody as soon as they can consciously form words and coherent thoughts. In my eyes, more younglings in news reporting will help improve reliability as younger people can have more socially and culturally relevant outlooks on events due to this being 'their' time period/generation so to speak. However, others might disagree with me, citing the fact that news reporting requires a certain degree of experience and commitment which is only achieved via age and experience. There's also the fact that due to social trends and whatnot, younglings may tend to favor more emotional, 'catchy' (so to speak) arguments rather than logical, factually supported ones.

  • I do agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported as the news of today is directly affecting our future. Our generation is totally different we are exposed more for news everyday and everywhere, on social media, TV, and phones. We are able to understand what is happening around and different points of view. Our voices really matter and need to be heard as we are the foundation stone for the future. I think that our engagement in this would make it more interesting and understandable.

  • I Agree that young people should have bigger say in how the news is reported, because young people are consumers of news from sources like Social media platforms, Artificial Intelligence etc. In India media news sources are rapidly increasing, Approximately 71% of Indians prefer online news and 41% people rely on social media platforms like youtube, X, Instagram etc. ( these stats are from Times of India). This change is very significant for Gen Z. Reports from Government stats that about 81% of mens and 71% of womens in India adeing between 15-29 uses media as a source of daily news updates, average of two hours a day, For me this stats indicates that how young people are intrested to learn what's happening today.
I personally feels that nowadays many Newsrooms, organisation are runned by older generation who priortize about Politics and leaders and are not giving the due importance to problems like climate change, education costs, mental health and employment issues makes young people to go on modern way where they get all sectors updates are covered, Also some organisation creates fake news for money, Due to some organisation students are losing trust with every newsrooms and organisations around them.
I personally think that when younger people are getting involved with news the country will grow, it's democracy will grow.
And involving younger people is effective, inclusive and fairer

  • i agree Yong people have a say in the news because the want to know what is happens in different bits if the world and if it was great new they want to hear it but if it is bad news they dont want to hear it because if it is sad new like if some one did something bad

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say on the news because so they can see what it could do to their future. When doing this they could know what to avoid or do.
However some people disagree with this and it is okay. They think everyone should have the same say and is right but we are all diffrent

    1. @jubliant_elephant can you think of any ways that young people could participate more in the news?

  • I agree that young people (15-18) years might have a bigger say in how the news is reported because their are younger and they have the mind that is starting to mature or finishing and they have now an age that is important to take decisions. Also, they are beginning knowing about politics and about what is happening nowadays and this is good because in the future, they will have more knowledge than other people and they will know about this topic and if you dosent know you will be busy.

However, others might desagree with me because they will think that us (teenagers) we dont have the sufficient ability to think about this topic and decide what we want in our lives , in one hand they are true someones they cannot have this ability but they dont know all teenagers on the world but, in the other hand I think they are completely wrong

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because it help to improve their skills and knowledge. They also have ideas that old people could not think because kids are more creative and they think other form than adults, so it will be interesting to now what they think too. Also is important that young people now what is happening in the world and be informed because they will need that information when they grow up for their lifes.

However, others can disagree because they think they are too young or they do not have experience of how the world work, so in some situations they will decide because of their point of view.

Despite of this, I still think they will be useful in social media, because of their personality, creativity and their way of seeing thinks.

  • I am agree that young people should have a greater say in how the news is reported , I think we have age enough to start thinking critically and expose our ideas or thoughts. However , others might disagree with me because people believe that teenagers think in a different way from adults .

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because its from the child point of veiw and the way that they understand it and how they think about it However others might disagree with me because they are gust kids and they might not understand any thing and they might not listen to the news

    1. @Supportive_koala are there some ways that journalists could make the news easier to understand for kids?

  • I agree young people should have a say in how the news is reported. Most young people already find the news boring as it is, if the news stays the same way the news will eventually die out. They can offer a helpful and creative viewpoint that can prevent unfortunate things from happening. I have seen news reporters use language in a way younger people can understand and the results of it makes it more engaging and to take action on worldwide issues like global warming.

However, many people would say that younger people are inexperienced and don't know what they're talking about but, I believe that if we include young people there will be a movement in solving these problems.

  • I think young people should have the bigger say in how news are reported,as they don't only see it or hear about it;the media directly affects their lives, their futures, their perspectives on practically everything. Yet,their voice is often misrepresented and misunderstood. How is that fair? Yes,young people's ways of the news is different, they get it through social media, short videos and other digital platforms. But, does that mean that the news they get is any different than the news you get? It's just a different way of reaching. If the news are reported without considering how they engage with it,it's useless. Teens and young adults are also frequently labeled as „lazy”, „careless”, „ rebellious”. But to your surprise your words are what make them lazy. Stereotyping them and then expecting them to be the opposite? Letting young people contribute in the news about them helps accurately paint how the generation is. Would you feel good if everyone was saying you were lazy – and you couldn't do anything about it?
Also, topics like education, mental health, climate change, technology, immigration, racism and social justice heavily impact young people. (from what I've seen) They bring lived experiences and insights adults often overlook. That makes us feel unappreciated. today, young people have led movements and spoken up about injustice. Giving them a say in news reporting makes sure that these movements are covered authentically, not minimized, underestimated,or misunderstood. When young people shape the news,it's not just about wanting to lead,it's for society as a whole.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in shaping news coverage. After all, teens spend hours online every day, closely following stories about school, future jobs, mental health, and the planet they will inherit. When news is seen through their eyes, it often feels closer to real life, more honest, more immediate, and less distant. That said, some people hesitate. Others might disagree with me because strong journalism is built on years of experience, fairness, and careful fact-checking. Young voices, they argue, are still learning these skills. There is also concern that headlines could begin chasing what is popular rather than what is true. Still, if guided responsibly, teenage perspectives can add freshness and relevance without weakening journalistic standards.

  • i feel the same cause what if someone wanted to enlist to be a big role in the world but they get denied cause they are to young and if they saw some thing that they want to share but get denied cause they are to young to do it so i agree

  • Young people own that right to have a say about what is going on worldwide. Because we are the future of tomorrow and if we don't find out about what is happening in the world, there will be a high chance of failing as a leader. For example if everyone are so relaxed that nothing bad is ever going to happen in the future, when the future comes and there is an unexpected problem, we will not be able to solve that problem which could lead to great losses.

  • Yes of course i totally agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because first of all we the young people are the ones going to change the society tomorrow and everything that is going on around us , we should take note of it. However , others might disagree with me because most people feel that it is only adult that are meant to have a say in how the news is reported. There is a popular saying that we people are the leaders of tomorrow and being a leader requires you to take active part in things going on around you . Young people are seen as the leaders in training and them being leaders give them the access in having a say on how the news is being reported. This is my own opinion.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in the news because the news is also about us. The news affects our lives, sometimes the news only talk about adults and not about young people. If young people help, the news can be more fair and more interesting.

    1. Thank you for your comment. How can young people have more of a say in the news?

  • I strongly agree because young people should know about what is happing around them because it helps shape their future, affects their daily life and reflect on their values. social justice and equality which matters greatly, because stories about gender equality, racism and freedom of expression often shape how young people see society and their place within it, many young people are still forming their values, so such news that highlights fairness and human right can really help impact in their life.

    1. I agree because... We are the ones who are going to shape OUR future not adults . We are the ones who will grow up to LEAD this world . AI might take over though : ) Oh well !

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because a lot of the big decisions made do affect young people sometimes not so much, sometimes in their everyday lives. However others might disagree with me because they think that under 18s might be too young to have a say in important decisions.

    1. Thanks for sharing. What are some practical ways young people could have a stronger voice in how news is reported?

  • Hii fellow topical talkers this is fair minded elephant from India and whenever I turn on the news on the tv it feels like I'm watching a show made for adults. I agree with some of my fellow topical talkers that we are more creative, and we actually understand how misinformation just moves on social media platforms and that's even what I thought too, but after using my creativity and problem solving skills I'll admit I've actually changed my mind a bit. I used to think that young people should always get a better say on how the news is reported because we are faster and more creative but after seeing how ai can generate deepfakes and spread it quickly. I finally realized that old school journalists are the ones who know how to fact check properly. I now think that we shouldn't replace adults we can bring in all the energy and the "digital" skills, but we need their experience to keep the news reliable too.

    Signing off: Fair minded elephant

  • Yes! I do think young people should get a better say in how the news is reported because we see things from a different angle to adults. We have more freedom than they do and we should have a chance to share our voices!

  • I agree because everyone should have their say in what's going on in the world today. Nobody deserves to be left out from hearing people their ages views on what's happening in the world. Everybody deserves to say what they want no matter how old or young they are. I think we should get a say on what to do because usually the most important voices are the small ones!

  • Young people should ABSOLUTELY have a bigger say in how the news is reported, because, if you think about it, so many young people are watching the news and if we're watching, we should be able to share our opinions and thoughts on the way it's presented.

    1. Do you think social media is a good platform to share your thoughts and opinions on what is happening in the news?

      1. I think that social media can be a really great way to share your opinions because it really gets the word out and millions of people can see your thoughts. You can also gain followers and friends who also believe in your opinions. But, I think it also isn't a very good way to share opinions because there are so many people who try to put down others and their words might make you feel conflicted about your opinions or like your opinions are wrong and stupid.

      2. Also, (just as a little add on to my first comment) when you post something on social media, it will think that since you posted one thing, that you'll want to see more of this. So, it will show you things that reinforce your opinion without challenging it which isn't very healthy. It can make you think that your opinions are the only correct ones. This is especially bad if your opinions are very horrible and discriminating to others. It will just give you 'proof' that your opinions are true, even when they're sometimes irrational.

  • Young people should definitely have a say in the way that news is reported. Currently, news is presented in a way that is appealing to an older audience- which it has been for generations. Under 18's are generally left out of debates and political situations, thought to be 'too young'. However, young people are just as affected by situations reported on the news as anybody else- so they deserve to have it presented to them in an age-appropriate, engaging way. While it could be argued that young people can still watch adult reporters talk about news, it won't actually help them understand anything because, again, it's presented in a way that appeals to an older audience. To improve this situation, there could be a child-news channel, focusing on what is right for young people.

  • I agree with this statement - young people are the future of the economy and the world. How young people are influenced right now is going to shape Planet Earth for the next decade, and even the next few centuries. We decide the fate of our planet.

The more we can decipher the news around us, and discover how the world works, the better chance we have of creating a new future with more understanding, compassion and hopeful attitudes. However, we, as young people are extremely sheltered from the noises of the outside world, or influenced by trending stories on social media platforms.

I believe that our society will be more positive if young people can say more in how the news is reported. If we can find better and easier ways to present the world around us to young people, more people will benefit from earlier voting, and less spun news stories on unreliable online platforms.

  • I agree with the statement because I think that information should be available for all age groups and everyone should have the right to know what is happening in the world they live in. Young people should be able to learn about sensitive topics as long as they are introduced and taught in the correct way. Some children may read newspapers designed for older people in search for information which may show them facts not suitable for their age. This is why I think that young people should be educated about the world and not be shielded from the truth.

  • Hi I think teens people (under 15 or 16) should not have social media. Because when I went to school most people had a phone by age 9 or 10 and they all had Social Media like Tiktok and Snapchat so in my opinion the age limit should be lifted from 13 to 16. And children where accessing inappropiate content like people swearing and talking about inappropiate subjects

  • I agree that yound people should have a bigger say in the news is reported because we can provide different perspectives from adults and bring new ideas about which new is more important and how to report it. It is also essential for us to participate in the creation of news, as it helps us understand it more deeply and develop critical thinking. Additionally, the news would be more inclusive, as it would include representation of all ages and give more voice to our interests and concerns of young people.
On the other hand, not everyone has to agree with me, as people see things differently. Some might think that we still don't have much experience, and that being so connected to social media could make news more viral rather than verified, which could also lead to more fake news.
In conclusion, I believe that we should be given the opportunity to participate more actively in the news and demonstrate what we are capable of.

  • I agree that young people should have bigger say in how the news is reported because it is important that everyone understands and knows what it is other parts of the world are experiencing. I believe that if the news are presented in different ways depending on the audience, there will be more awareness on what is actually happening. For example, the majority of young people nowadays are on social media, therefore, if the news is shared more frequently there, then a larger number of people will hear about it. Therefore, I think that the news should be adapted more based on the age group of the people, for example, BBC Newshound shares the current news in a child friendly manner, which I think is very important and effective as I am aware many primary schools and secondary schools often watch it. This is just an example of a way in which this information can be conveyed.

However, others might disagree with me because they could think that young people should not be exposed to what is ongoing at the moment as they should be focusing more on themselves and their development, so when they are older, they can learn and listen to the news with a higher level of maturity. People could also believe that younger people and children will not understand or judge what they hear or see online and therefore there is no point in showing them. However, I believe that this is wrong and even young children can form their own opinions and judgements based on what they see and how they interpret it in their own minds.

  • I do and don't agree. I think over 15s should have a say in how the news is reported. However others might not agree and think that younger or older people should have a say in how the news is reported.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because young people at age 9 to 15 are old enough to understand what they say and what they have done. However, others might think differently like they still can't take responsibility for their words and actions.

  • I agree.
It is unfair to have the adults having full control.
it is unfair because they may know older things and more difficult things but children know more modern things.
    such as the internet.

Whoever is reading this might think "what are you talking about" and it is ok to have different opinions .
Others maybe such as your self might disagree with me because others may think adults should decide everything but i don't agree with that.
    Byeeeeeee :)

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported, because how news is presented to you, and which news stories are available to you, shapes your world view. Young people should be able to make up their own minds, and form their own opinions, as opposed to being told what to think by the media that they consume. We are the future of our world, so it's important that we can make informed decisions based on reliable resources. If young people had a bigger say in how the news is reported, I think there would be more well researched news that shows the full picture available for a younger audience, instead of people relying on possibly false information from social media. We would have more say in how news is presented to us, and more awareness of how this informs our opinions.
However, some people might think that older people have more experience in presenting news, or might know more about what they're talking about.

  • Another thing to think about, is that maybe the important thing isn't young people specifically having a bigger say in how the news is presented, maybe we should be focusing on everyone, no matter age, race, religion, gender, sexuality, or abilities having a say in how news is presented. Is your age even that big of a part of your identity? We should make sure that the way news is reported takes everyone into account.

  • I agree that young people should have more influence over the news that is produced. My reasoning for this position is that young people will be the future, but they are also more connected and understand technology in a way that allows them to inform the news industry to better cover these important topics. Topics like climate change, education, and technological innovation are much more relevant to young people than they are to older generations, meaning that young people in the newsroom will ensure that those issues receive more coverage. Furthermore, because young people are the main demographic that consumes digital news, they are in the best position to suggest new structures and formats for reporting.

However, others might disagree with me regarding where young people should have more influence over the news that is produced. For instance, one might agree that young people are a vital part of the news, but one might disagree that reporters should have more influence over the news reporting process. One might argue that younger reporters do not yet have the same experience or journalistic discretion that older reporters have developed over their years in the field. These individuals might argue that young people should play more of a role in observing the industry and established journalists rather than proposing changes to how the field operates or what it produces. In any scenario, the news should be focused on reporting the objective truth to its audience.

    1. Really good comment. Truthful and accurate reporting on topics that shape the world today. Perhaps, you can also think about how younger people can influence older and sometimes more experienced people to make the right decisions with the right kind of news reporting.

    2. I feel like all these comments are true but I don't think kids should have more influence. A lot of us want to have more power and feel like adults don't give us that but be grateful that our parents love us and if you feel like a parent, teacher or even a older sibling they care about and for you. So thank you all for commenting, and sharing your opinion and thank you for allowing me to share mine.

  • I agree and disagree, because everyone should have a say in how the news is reported, and even though you are young this website teaches us no matter the age you deserve to have a say. I do believe that young people should have a say as they are young and bright, but also other older people are wise, and deserve to talk and discuss with the young people about how the news should be reported.

  • I agree that young people have a bigger say in how the news is reported because young people know more about the latest trends than old people. However, others might disagree because some people think that older people know more since they have been around longer.

  • I do think that not just young people should be given the right to have a say in what is going on around the world. The right should be given to everyone both the poor, the rich, the young, the old, even people with different religions and personalities.

    1. You have made a valid point here, please can you give an example of how different people can make positive contributions on a topic of interest?

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say on what is being reported because;
young people are are still tender and have the ability to think outside the box and report news fluently
talking about young people, many people may not agree with me that what am saying is true, because they might think that young people are underaged to be having the bigger say on the news
young people have more experience because of the modern world of technology that is still evolving today
young people are agile and still fresh I prove this by saying that they have better IQ than elders or guardians
young people have better storage capacity and can therefore say things fluently without cramming or stammering
with the aid of exposure to gadgets like phone, laptops and other educational gadgets that can assist them in learning they can be able to know what is happening around them and boost their confidence through ways like videos, pictures and books on the internet.
I hope with points you will agree with me that young people should have the bigger saying the news
    thanks!!

  • Yes ,I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because young people have a mind of their own, there are many thoughts going on in their mindsets that aren't really shared with many people. However , others might disagree with me because most have the mindset that young people's heads are filled with nonsense. If others actually took the time and listen to what young people had to say about how the news is being reposted there would be a difference.

  • I agree and disagree because (agree) if they are 15-17 they are responsible enough to make decision's on there own and smart enough to make ideas to help people and make a better say on how the news is reported. But (disagree) if they are 0-14 years old they may be to young for trying to have a bigger say because they are usually still silly at that age and will just say put brainrot on the news and probably dont even care that the news is a thing and will start to think that they can do anything and will start adding rude comments on things and saying horrible things to people hurting the person who was said that to and the kids will think they have all the power and will also start stealing things and not paying making buisnesses mad and starting riots and the people can not hurt the kids.

  • As Nigerians, the news we hear today as young people is the federal government changing the system of academic curriculum for the grade 10 and 11 students. at least we also heard good news that at Imo state Nigeria, the government has approved and given the student at Holy ghost Trinity schools free education. I also hear about the rate of unemployment among the youths. Social media apps like Opera mini, channels television, arise news Tv and many others are the resources I get this news from. I also hear of the president approving budgets. I also hear about the violation of human right, the persecution of Christians at Niger state in Nigeria. Young people also hear about the corruption of leaders and bad governance. we also hear about the improvement of technology in hospitals, banks, and many more things we have been hearing of. Don't you think that there is a way we can improve the good aspects of the news we hear so far and try to abolish or remove it from the constitution and law?

    1. You have made an interesting point in your comment, how could we improve the quality of the news we hear to make it a more positive experience for the listeners?

  • News near us have been so terrifying, both in Africa and other parts of the country. as we live daily, we always think on how to develop ourselves and our country Nigeria. The above news we Nigerians have heard in the first comment is enough to think back and change our country. Strongly I believe that one day God will hear our prayers and change this country for good.

  • Nowadays, we live in a world where youths are mostly affected by what people say or think about them especially on the internet.
This brings me to the problem of cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be seen as the act of causing pain or harm to others on the internet, this includes using abusive words, body-shaming or intimidation of any type.
Cyber bullying can be very hurtful to youths because they often feel anxious or pained by some certain words or ideas especially about them. Youths often face the fear of being rejected or seen in a wrong perspective.
Immediate actions need to be taken on this problem like organizing classes for students or youths to encourage kindness and compassion and to also teaching them to manage their emotions in other not to be affected and not to affect others.
Youths should also stop discrimination and racism in other to prevent inflicting pain on others, because when pain is inflicted on them the find it hard to face the outer world as battle with fear and low self esteem.

  • As much as I would like to have a bigger say on how news is reported,it is important that we remember that once you reach 27 your front half of your brain[where you get your critical thinking] connects with your other half. So I don't agree with adults having full control but I do believe we should have a bigger say.

  • Hello!!!
I deffently agree as people in their youth have more ideas that adults or older people.
If younger people have a bigger say in how the news is reported younger people would be able to understand what it means because sometimes if i watch the news it is either scary or i do not understand.
If younger people have a bigger say then other people may follow and lead to sucsess

But however other people maybe whoever is reading may disagree with me because they may think adults should diside what happens because they know more adult sort of words and know how to get things into your brain.

It is alright to have your own oppinion but in the end I think yes younger people should have a say in how the news is reported.
    :]

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported. The young ones should be informed in what is going on in their country because it helps them to be aware of their environment and it shapes them in their education and also for the future. In my country, young people do not usually watch or listen to news because they find it boring so I feel like if they have the chance to choose how the news should be reported it could make them more interested in the news because either ways the older people would get to know the news one way or the other or even from the younger ones. However, others might disagree with me because they feel like young people can get to know what is going on in their country through a lot of social media platforms but not all the news one gets there are legit, there are lots of rumours that go around on social media.

    1. I agree because children of this generation are not interested in things that are that are Bordon to them , that is why I think if youths have all this influential on the screen giving the news we will find out that the number of youths that will start watching the news will increase because the news is coming from their favorite celebrities. And one thing about youths is that if the see someone the love or admire he like to follow the person and share it with their friends , which will make the information to spread much further.

  • Hello, I am grateful_currency and I agree that young people should have a say so about how the news is reported. The reason why I say this is because young people are also part of society and they need more say so in the world. But there is one exception they shouldn't have full say so there should be some limits (whats the weather crime ect) so the world wont get mixed up.
Over all I think letting young people have a say so on the news would be good for the world.

  • I agree that young people should have a say on how the news is reported because all the actions that are taken now are affecting their future so the should be involved in the news and try to understand how their future would be. Some young people are old enough to understand the weight of their decisions to a certain level. As young individuals, there may be somethings we notice, that the elders may ignore cause they may not have quality observation like us which can actually help solve some of our problems.

However, others may disagree because they feel young people are not as experienced as elders and may not know the consequences of the actions and understand how the world is. Personally, i feel young people should get to know their environment and understand how to develop it for good in the future. Its our future, why don't we try to make it good?

  • I strongly agree with the statement that "Young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported" because Misleading News, Social Media and much more could affect their future, change their lifestyle, limit their education, and even shift their life in the wrong direction.
Younger audiences opinions matter, so if they had a bigger say in how the news is reported it could solve this issue. Even Though, younger people are "easily swayed" Social Media, or the News could influence them negatively, causing them to do inaccurate, or wrong decisions, if they had a bigger say they could make a huge difference.

  • I think that children should have a bigger say because we are the future and the desisions made by adults will affect young people.
Also others might disagree however it isn't a problem to disagree by dicussing and sometimes disagreeing and different viewpoints we learn to understand what other people think. This helps us to learn to respect others. Young people have a lot of important things to say and sometimes adults could learn from us. (Also, thank you for the star!)

  • I am actually confused. I both agree and disagree that young people should have a part in reporting news since this discussion is so sensitive. It affects them negatively and positively at the same time.

I agree because if young people participated in reporting news, they would develop critical thinking and analyze the news carefully so that they would be responsible in the future, but this must be done through special ways like in my school, there is a session called global perspectives. It helps me and the students understand topics in the news like global warning and pollution.

I disagree because young people can be emotionally and mentally affected. Also, if young people heard about fake news, news could lead them to horrible paths. Moreover, they can get depressed by hearing about news and make them full of anxiety and fear. This can be caused by news about wars like Hamas and Israel.

For me, the most news I care about is about sports specially football. I know all the news about Liverpool Fc, Egyptian team and Al Ahly Fc.

  • I agree the young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because some kids might know more things than the adults. However others might disagree with me because. kids don't know what's going on in other places that they haven't seen before like other countries, towns, villages, and cities and adults might more than kids do. and adults have better memory than kids do so they can remember what they're supposed to say during the news. and kids have worse memory than adults have so they might forget what they were supposed to say while on the news and then the kids might have to switch places with the adults for them to finish what the kids were supposed to say on the news making it harder for kids to remember the lines for the news report that they have to remember what they are supposed to say. so kids should at least try to have a bigger say as they might be able to help the adults out with what they need help with and the kids can learn much more out of school and have an easier way of learning when they learn it in school and can help others learn it as well.

  • I think that young people from the ages 10-13 years old SHOULD be able to have a option about what is going on in their community and around them Because they are old enough to think for themself and have an say in it because it's also their lives.

  • Hi my username is stupendous_dragonfly and I agree that young people should have bigger saying in how the news is reported. it should be more entertaining because we 10-13 might not understand how the news is reported. This might affect how we look at the news when we grow up. and we might see other stuff different how other see it.

  • Hello! I am Illuminated Owl from Spain, and again I am writing you. As I can see... I have to talk about news and young people; and, I must confess that this theme will fix with me a lot, because I am not the first one reading a newspaper, watching the news... in brief, I am not so updated with what all happens in the world...
However, although I think that this is normal and that I am not the only one in this situation, I hope; of course I must be more informed with these things.
Sometimes, I consider that this depend a lot if your parents raised you watching the news. Of course, I am not saying that some parents are pampering their children because they do not do this; in fact, I think that it is normal because you are supposed to prevent making them to be worried, scared, or changing their feelings. Of course, you want for them the best. Even so, I think that the more adult you, the more you have to concern about what is happening not only in your country, but also in other ones. This will help you to reflect and think about what is wrong or not. Why is this happening? How can it be solved? Of course you cannot be depressed with what happens in your surrounding, but you must take in account that life will not always be perfect for you and for others, and that if you do not like it, you can try to change it. There are some delicate themes that probably children do not need to know about, however, introducing them to the events that happen in the world, will make them more prepared for the future and more aware.
Bye, and sorry for the long post!

    1. How do you think that the news can protect children from hearing the delicate themes?

  • I agree that young people should be made aware of what is happening because if they don't, then how will they find out about the world around them? How will they learn to act or speak respectfully when debating about a matter that they feel passionate about if they are never taught?
However, I think it shouldn't be delivered exactly the same way as normal news is delivered i.e. social media platforms because things on their may not be age-appropriate and might damage their mental health due to scary content/images. Therefore, I think there should be a website where all the news gets reported but in a way that is child friendly so that young people can understand the world in which they live in without coming to any harm.

  • I agree that young people should have bigger say in how the news is reported because many of the issues in the headlines today such as climate change, education and mental health directly affect their futures. For example, the BBC has reported on how young people are leading climate activism and shaping conversations online, yet their voices are not always reflected in traditional news coverage. Including young perspectives would make the news more relevant and engaging for younger audiences.

However, others might disagree with me because they believe news reporting should be led mainly by experienced journalists who understand complex issues. While experience is important, combining it with youth perspectives could create more balanced and inclusive reporting

  • In summary.I agree that young people should have a bigger say in the news because in their new generation, they have more AI generated videos and AI technology like tablets, computers, consoles, phones, and now on TikTok you can make A.I generated content. So A.I can make the news because they also have more knowledge. so they know a lot more than kids and adults,no offense of course. But all jokes aside.I think young people should have a bigger say in the news by generating A.I bots to tell us about the news.enchanted_expression out.

    1. Can you share your thoughts on AI generated videos?

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because some young people have a very sophisticated mind set. Our generation these days have TikTok and Youtube Shorts. I feel like some kids don't watch that and instead watch the news and they might have something against another thing.

    1. You say "might have something against another thing", can you explain what you mean here?

      1. I mean like for example:
I don't like YouTube but, I do like watching the news better.
That's what I mean by "having something against something."

  • I disagree slightly with this statement, I believe that younger audiences should even really be worrying about the news, unless they are gifted in intelligence. Most kids aren't smart enough to understand most topics in the news and even if they somehow did get a bigger say in news, on top of that a lot of it could end up being false because of the amount of creativity they have which could result in them mistaking one thing for another.

  • In my opinion, young people over the age of 10 should have a voice about the news. Some people may not agree with me ,but allow me to change your mind. To begin with, young people over the age of 10 know the difference between right and wrong. We know the importance of how the news is presented. In addition, we know how to problem solve and be creative. Finally, our voice could help change the impact of news by presenting it in a understandable way.

  • Hi, I'm Broadminded and I agree that young people should have a greater say in the news. Many young people have great opinions and well shaped minds, but their voices aren't always heard. Having more young people help shape the news would make it fresher, and would make it more relatable to younger people, and give a better picture of what matters to our generation. It can also help them learn about journalism and get involved in their communities.

With young people in the news, it may attract the younger generations and have more younger generations informed on what's happening around them.

  • I completely agree that young people should have a bigger say in how news ir reported, because if news where told by teenagers also, more people around their age would littsen to it. It is pruved that people from same age or similar talk like they, what would atract teen´s attencion. Young people usualy take the news from the social media, what is much less reliable than than TV news or newspapers.
Studies indicate that young people aged 10 and older have already developed critical thinking skills, so they would be completely able to participate in the news, both in writing for newspapers articles and other of interest.

  • I think that this question is a difficult one to answer there are reasons from both sides. For example, Young people should be able to talk about what they think is important in the world right now. We are the ones who have to save climate change, wars and eventually AI. We should have a say in how news gets reported around the world. But there is negatives to this argument as well. Young people are well, still young and might not have as much experience in the fields as seniors in that specific topic. But overall I have to fall on the side of Yes. Yes young people are young but after all we are change and the sooner we start changing, the better

  • I argue that the majority of the people under the age of 16 have not developed their critical thinking and they are unable to participate in serious conversations. Moreover, they don't have enough experience to see the world properly, and as a result, to not understand what's currently happening around the world. Also, young people usually don't talk about serious topics, but only for the ones they are interested in, for example, sports. Meanwhile, adults are more experienced and they have got their minds shaped, so they are able to talk about serious topics.
On the other hand, what is happening around the world affects young people and their future. It is a little bit ironic to not let young people have a say on something they are affected by. Furthermore, by the advent of technology, young people are able to search up information and develop their minds. Therefore, young people nowadays are more mature and can make important decisions more easy than before.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say on how the news is reported, because the decisions made today will shape the future we're going to live in as a adult. Young people also bring in fresh ideas, creativity and new perspectives especially as the world is turning very digital with AI tools and resources. We can be fair with our words and build a inclusive future together!

    By the calm_harmonica

  • I would say that I agree with that young people should have a bigger say in how the new is reported because young people can provide creative ideas than old people as young people have better adaptability to new information. However, I believe that we need to make sure that no one is forcing or using the children for their own will. A lot of research has shown that the youth(young people) is an important time to form their own faith/conviction meaning that they can be more flexible than old people, but at the same time, it also can mean that their idea may be changed too easily by adults around them. Young people often get pressure from old people to change their opinion if they have different opinion from them. Most young people tend to be forced to give up here. They don't have enough power to resist the old people's authority toward them. Moreover, some adults even use young people to just bring people's attention and emotional move to make their opinion look better. This should not be happening and young people need to be able to have a bigger say in how news is reported.

On the other hand, others might disagree because young people have too little experience to make a proper decision or share a good opinion. I partly agree with that. It is true that young people have less experience, nonetheless we need to be able to respect young people's opinion as well because sometime the fact that young people had less time than us can also be a reason why young people are able to give a new creative ideas.

  • I definitely agree,
Young people should get to speak out, news talks about everything, this can worry them, for example people getting kidnapped .They should speak out and this can affect them in a good way. It would teach them confidence. Some people would disagree with me but everyone has their own opinion. They might disagree with me because they would start talking and go off topic, and maybe that young people shouldn’t even be watching news but young people should now what is going on in the world and have a chance to have a bigger say on how news is reported

  • I completely agree that young people should have a bigger say in how news ir reported, because if news where told by teenagers also, more people around their age would littsen to it. It is pruved that people from same age or similar talk like they, what would atract teen´s attencion. Young people usualy take the news from the social media, what is much less reliable than newspapers and TV news.
Young people from 10 onwards are considered have critical thinking so they are completely able to take part on the writing of newspapers or be the interviewee because of an event that they had saw or lived.

  • I agree strongly that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because, why not? Young people have also opinions and all of them are valid. Others might say young people have not the necessary capacities yet, but all of them know how to think, so, they could achieve an interesting point of view that adults could not.

Moreover, the news could be funny because young people are less serious than adults. People might think that is a bad characteristic for something too important like saying the news but I think it could be interesting, for example, having a piece in the newspaper with news that are not tragedies or terrible situations. It could be named ¨Good news everyday¨, so that people know that not all the news in the World are about disasters or accidents.

Also young people would be able to talk about news that are serious, it could be good for them to know the things that happen around them. They could also improve the way they write, talk or present in public.

So, with all this things in favour, I think it could be good and interesting that young people have more say in reporting news.

  • I disagree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because reporting the news needs experience and responsibility. Adult journalists know how to check facts and write news in a correct and fair way. Young people may not understand difficult topics like politics, the economy or world events very well. For example, understanding government decisions or climate rules needs knowledge that most young people doesn't have yet. Some people my disagree with me because young people know modern platforms and can make the news more interesting for others, but I think adults should still lead the news to gaurantee that everyone see useful and meaningful news.

  • i think young people should have their say in the news report because we understand the world differently and see it differently and we understand more about social media and technology as we always watch the internet .
if we have our say ,we will do whats right for our future and the Worlds future.
others might disagree with me because perhaps they might think younger people are to young but i know what i am saying and i am saying it for the right .young people are just as important as older people .
young people are very intelligent an important as well!

    1. How do you think the news should be reported to young people?

  • I believe children should have the right to have a voice because everyone's opinion matters. Also, they are very capable in a lot of things and they are really creative and might have a lot of experience from the world. I believe we should be equal.

  • No i don't think that children should have a bigger say because some children might say something rude or something that could be offensive and that could cause arguing and fighting between people who might disagree and agree.

    1. I see what you are talking about, but in topical talk we have different opinions and agree to disagree, but if you scroll through, some people have really great views. Some of them are really creative taking two opposite views and finding a solution for both. However, in some cases you would be correct as not all people think through what to say. In these cases I believe the person in the wrong should most definitely apologise and the other should forgive.

  • Young people should have a bigger say in how news is reported because we can understand more than what adults I think we do.We can also make news fun for other children. Some people might not agree with me because some people think that children will mess up the media.

    1. Can you explain what you mean by "children will mess up the media"?

  • i think yes or no because it depends if the child properly knows how to report or take the bigger place of role.in my opinion i would say no because even if they are really smart because that their height might be to small to even fit in.parents can report this to a journalist and tell that their child found this so it can be more usual and to make your kid famous.

  • I think that this is correct because everyone, not just adults, should have a chance to speak for themselves,or for certain people. Some adults will not listen to young people because they might think that because they're older, means that they can control others and sometimes think that whatever they do is right and never listen to what others have to say. People might disagree with me because not all adults are like that and some actually care about others. Another reason people might disagree with me is because they might think that since adults are older they can do what they want to others even if they are clearly wrong. To whoever says those things I highly disagree with them because no matter how old you are, you shouldn't let people control you all the time.

  • Young people, who don't already have a say in the news, should be able to have a say in the news because it could help them to understand the people around them. They could feel elated and want to be a news reporter when they are older so they could help other kids like them to understand them.

    1. How else do you think young people can have a say in the news?

  • What my class have been talking about is Dondle trump and we have been talking about if we like him or not and we had a vote some pouple said they do and some pouple said they do not .

  • I heard that they are going to ban under 16s on social like tiktok i think this is a good and bad thing to do because some people need to do stuff on tiktok like tiktok is there social life and some people are tired of youtube some times and what if they want to trends and post entertaining video or funny video and tiktok is like news for teenagers and young adults and if they ban it then nobody would be on there phone because some teenagers do not like youtube and tiktok has the app that trends start so i think they should not ban tiktok for under 16s.

  • I think young people should get more treatment in mental health because in Gaza children are very ill and nost of then are very injured.

    1. Can you explain what you mean by treatment in mental health?

  • in my opinion i think that people from 10-13 should be able to have a bigger say because young minds can produce intresting ideas that could help you figure out something.

  • I agree that younger people should have their say in the news because some children are knowledgeable and can be more reasonable than adults. People's lives can be affected and also their education system if they don't have their say. I believe that everyone's opinions matters even if they are young. They also might have many experiences in the world .

  • I agree because the amount of times when I’ve been shut down just because I am a child 😕

  • I think that we should have more of an input in the news because then the news presenters have the same view of news that us children have . In the UK they are debating whether to ban social media for under 16 year olds and it dose not affect the adults at all but the affect that the children have is way different. How will we contact are family members ?How will we know how to handle if something bad comes up on the Internet ? How will we learn that some apps and web sites are bad . You learn by making a mistake first .

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because it affects them directly as much as it affects old people, and it shapes how they understand and see the world. They often use different platforms, such as social media or online videos to access news, so, if young people are involved, news reporting could become more relevant and accessible for their generation. Also, they are the future and can provide different perspectives to help solve this problems.

However, others might disagree with me because they believe news reporting should be led by experienced journalists and old people, who often know how to check facts and avoid mistakes. To sum up, some may worry that involving too much young people when reporting news can cause a bigger number of fake news, or news could become much simpler and based on their opinions instead of truth.

  • I think that topical talk is great for young people to hear about the news and really feel like they are included

  • I agree that Young folks deserve more influence over how stories hit the public they’re not only reading updates but helping build what comes next. Because climate shifts, mind well-being, learning paths, school costs, job markets touch their lives up close, still their thoughts show up late, thin, or twisted. Some grown-ups push back, arguing youth miss depth, swayed too easily by waves of feeling or viral noise. That worry holds weight, sure, even so shutting out younger takes forgets one thing: new angles shake tired versions loose, pull coverage closer to real life, widen who feels seen, point toward what’s ahead.

  • I highly agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported, although there are experts for news reporting some younger individuals may be more educated on a topic than those experts. lots of people see the world in different ways than others and having more perspectives on something can help with different topics. lots of people may think that because young kids keep their eyes on social media all the time it may be less productive but from time to time social does provide Vidal information before a lot of people can find out. letting younger people operate with the news also helps with showing them that everything may not be true that you see on social media. lots of people may think that the information younger kids give out isn't really true but sometimes they can provide Vidal information you may not find in a lot of places

    1. Can you say more about why you say the information younger kids are given isn't true?

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because they have bigger more ideas than adults.

    THANK YOU FOR LISENING.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger in how the news is reported because it shapes mind how is children about 10-13 have open mind and think outside a topics . It has a positive affect in their life, education by giving their critical thinking skills.
However, others might disagree with me, but it will allow young mind to understand the world around them and communication skills which will allowed to reply to any problem

  • I agree because young people ( under 25) should have a greater say in news reporting because some of the issues involve them most, such as climate change, health and technology. You might disagree because it doesn’t involve them most and it affects all of us. That again that is also possible but will most likely affect the young and the elderly. Currently young voices are not allowed to speak in parliament and I think this rule should be changed to under 15 not having a say.

If you think about it over 41% of the world population are under 25. These people not being able to have a say only leaves 59% approximately left to decide and have a say in the news in the world. You might disagree and I respect that but this is true information and we might have different perspectives on this point. If you have any questions or points disagreeing please let me know in the comments.

  • Hi I’m genuine_buffalo and I agree because young people should share what they think and it good to hear what other people think

  • I agree that people should be able to say in how the news is reported because young people have a mature or a adult attitude in there own way however, others might disagree with me because some say they don't want there children talking how they could change the process of the news.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is been reported because the news affects their lives directly, both now and in the future. Young people are major consumers of news through social media, online platforms and mobile devices, so involving them can help make news more relevant, engaging and easier for their generation to understand. When young people have a voice, issues that matters to them-such as education, employment, mental health, technology, climate change, and social justice are more likely to be covered accurately and fairly. In addition, young people bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and digital skills that can improve how news is presented in today's fast changing media world.
Others might disagree with me because they believe that news reporting should be left mainly to be experienced by journalist and editors. They may argue that young people lack professional training, life experience or maturity needed to report complex issues objectively. Some people also worry that giving young people a bigger say could lead to biased or emotional reporting especially on sensitive political or social topics.
In conclusion, while experience in journalism is important, I believe that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is been reported. With guidance from professionals, their involment can make the news more inclusive, balanced and relevant to all generation.

  • In my point of view, disagreeing should be automatic as young's shouldn't have a say in the reporting of the news as most don't even agree with the news. Most of us as children hate tv presenters and the news as a whole and would fancy only a well known adult to explain it directly to them. Also a group of children could agree on a certain idea which doesn't make sense, but their quantity would win he the vote of how it should be presented.

Others may disagree with me as it would make the children more responsible and mature. In my opinion, they aren't wrong, but not all children would do so.

  • I agree - we should have some more say in how the news is reported! I believe that sometimes news is created in a way that creates unfair ideals for the younger generation, and that often it can be written in a way that struggles to show both sides of the story. If an eight year old is only showed articles or stories about one side of a story, then what will that eight year old be thinking when they place their vote in 10 years time? They will only be thinking about that ONE view on life, rather than the whole picture, which leads to an uneducated and possibly callous society. As well as this, social media platforms create false and improper new stories spun on the greedy want for likes and followers. As much as, yes, this is another view on the world that we do need to consider when seeing the full picture, it also can create incorrect realities for children, which, as their brains are still developing, is not the way to go.

However, someone might disagree with me, saying that it is unneeded for young people to see the news, as they are still young and therefore deserve the right to be free of the ropes tying us to this sometimes horrible reality of life until they are older and their brains are developed. But aren't the younger people already seeing these harsh realities through the scope of social media?

Despite this, the sooner we can get the young people seeing proper and well - rounded views of our world, the sooner! In my opinion, the more young people can decide to change how the world is presented to them, the more chance we'll have of an empathetic future!

  • I agree with this statement because the wider amount of people with a say the bigger the chance of a very valuable opinion that suits everybody. Young people have fresh perspectives. Things that other people may not have seen or thought of. Besides some of the biggest issues today affect young people the most. Social media affects us directly and climate change is eventually going to get passed down to us but if we start having a bigger say now, we could change the future for the better. I mean, who knows, someone might have the million dollar idea but never get the chance to voice it.

    1. How do you think we can work towards climate change now?

      1. I think we can reduce the amount of non-renewable resources we use such as fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas) and nuclear energy. We could try using renewable resources such as water, solar, wind, geothermal and biomass energy instead.

  • I think that 16year olds should have a chance to talk on the news report,I think that because 16year olds should be allowed to talk on the internet and watch YouTube videos. They should talk to their friends.

  • Fellow students, esteemed writers.

I believe that young people should not have a bigger say in how the news is reported for a number of reasons, such as ignorance to world issues and lower stage brain development.

Most kids age 5 to 16 are in school and have no time to report on news or stay up to date with real world issues. I think that it would be best to leave young people to their classwork so they can pass school and then become a reporter and such. Young people also have less developed brains, which makes it hard to focus on stories and get facts straight. This might sound condescending, as I too am a young person but I personally would like to focus on school right now and leave reporting on news to qualified adults.

Others may disagree with me for various reasons, which I have read from other posts. For example, others may say that kids have a sense of creativity which allows them to find relevant news, however, news relevance for a minor could differ from that of an adult, causing news stations to lose viewers. Others may also say that reporting news allows young people to experience what's relevant and important, however, I disagree, as modern day news could be disturbing and inappropriate to younger kids.

In conclusion, I think that young people should wait until they have real world experience themselves before they decide to take on reporting.

  • I would agree that young people should have more say in the way news is reported, as they are the future of the news and understand better how to engage all audiences with it. Young people are obviously the most well-connected to the Internet and have unique knowledge of utilizing different news organizations if they want to expand their news reporting. Young people will best be able to advise news organizations if they want to expand their audiences. If they are given a chance to influence the news, this will ensure that the news of the future remains focused on issues that matter which would ideally increase the demographic's engagement in civic duties. Young people could be employed as editors or feedback forms could be utilized so people best understand issues impacting young people the most.

Yet, I would not expect individuals to agree with me for the following reasons: individuals place a lot of value on tradition in this area. Some individuals might believe that young people will not know how to report on specific issues in a correct manner as they do not have proper context or historical context for certain stories. Others might suggest that making the news engaging for young people may lead to publication of news that focused on trends rather than information. Others might believe that journalists and reports have specific ethical values that need to be maintained, with their expertise being essential to creating the correct news stories. All of these elements speak to people who have decades of experiences as opposed to younger individuals with media formats.

  • I agree that young people should have a better say than older people because they van look at thing in a different way. Younger people have been proved to have a more creative approach to their work and therefore might think of thing we do t I this could be very useful. The way younger people like me think is very different to adults for our brains aren't fully developed and aware of the difference between right and rong, but I think this could be used in a different perspective

Some people may disagree with me because in there apionion children haven't got the correct standards to make big decisions. Lots of Younger children like me watch TV and this can affect the way they think or act. There are many pros and cons for this subject so I will lost some now:
*The pros of being a younger person in this situation is that you can look at things in a different way.
*The cons are that our brains are not fully developed and therefore can't get the full picture of what's going on inside there brain.

In the subject of something bad happening alot of people will use the adults because they have never given younger people a chance and probably won't because of the following reasons:
    *Are brains aren't fully developed.
*We aren't always trusted for our behaviour on the account of something bad happening.
*We look at things from a different perspective.

  • I disagree with that statement, because kids need to not worry about what is happening around the world, because they may be scared of what is on the news. If it was kid friendly then I would agree with the statement.

  • The idea of young people having a say in the news is mixed as they may lack the world experience that older individuals probably have. Youths aged 15 or 16 and older might have enough understanding of the world to contribute to news discussions.

In conclusion, while young people are creative and might have a little knowledge, their lack of experience in world factors might just make them just not to make the cut.

Let me know what you think!

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say on how the news is reported because many young people have a special way of thinking. Scientists have proven that young people think with their amygdala; because of this, a teen may make quick decisions, which makes them a risk taker, and may not want to think about future consequences, but an adult, on the other hand, may reason with his or her prefrontal cortex, which makes them think of long-term consequences and reason carefully; they may hardly take risks because he or she may worry about what the future may throw at them. Young people have a different and special way of thinking which brings out creativity and may want to exhibit it in different areas of their life or anywhere they find themselves.

  • I think young people should definitely have a say in how the news is reported because we all have opinions about things which means everyone's opinions and voices should be listened to and acknowledged. Especially young people because in a few decades, we might be helping run the country and it's a good experience to share and listen to opinions.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because young people deserve more influence over news coverage simply as they spend so much time online, living through challenges such as rising temperatures, school pressures, job markets, and emotional well-being. Since their voices often go unheard, stories tend to tilt toward older generations’ views instead of showing life as it's actually experienced today. Because inclusion shifts focus, reporting gains honesty - mirroring what society truly faces. For those just forming opinions, exposure to diverse angles builds sharper judgment and deeper understanding of information itself.
Still, some folks see it differently. For them, real news needs seasoned reporters - people trained in ethical standards, tuned into society's deeper layers. The thought of youth stepping further into coverage brings concern. Without years behind them, fresh voices might slip toward slant, drama, or errors. Experience matters when sorting truth from noise.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because many young people such as us, are affected by many issues, such as climate change, education, and technology. Young people consume daily news through social media, so their way of watching daily news could make the news more engaging and relevant to newer generations. For example, when reporting topic such as climate change, young activists like Greta Thunberg have talked about fresh perspectives. However, others might disagree with me because some believe young people lack the experience to report issues. They also believe news reporting should be led by journalists who got the training and understanding of political and social context. For example, some people worry about if young people were reporting important information the details could be missed.

  • I definitely agree, because many people think that as we are young, we don’t understand current problems, but the changes in our countries or cities affect us too, and we should be able to decide what happens (or t least get an opinion). I think that people don’t believe we have the knowledge to honestly do any good to politics, which is true in some cases, but everyone should get a chance to be heard.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how news is reported, as much of the news is about young people, but not often with young people. A clear example is how trends and online behaviour are reported. It often focuses on young people being addicted to their screens and influenced easily by online trends, without understanding why young people make the internet such an important aspect of their lives. In reality, for many students, internet is not just for entertainment, it's where we learn skills, discover interests, follow world events, etc. when the news ignores this and highlights only the risks, it creates fear instead of understanding. As a result, adults react with rules and judgements that don't actually address the issue. If young people were part of the reporting, the story would shift from blaming behaviour to explaining the experiences. A simple solution would be youth contributors working in collaboration with journalists where the youngsters can share their real perspectives while the journalists ensure fact checking and balance. That way, news becomes more relatable and stops unwanted blaming. Some may say that young people report irresponsibly because they are emotionally closer to it. I understand that concern. But lived experience provides clarity when guided by journalists, and not bias. So, understanding this younger generation begins when u actually listen to it.

  • I agree with this statement. Young people observe and thrive by listening and learning from adults about reality, but they also are living reality and deserve a larger say in what the news reports. Just like adults, we as young people grow up in a world that is filled with mistakes. However, our opinions differ from our elders because we grow up noticing the mistakes, while they are living burdened with them. Our logic and observations should be more taken into account because our worldviews are different. You could argue that people our age would be more idealistic due to inexperience ; but how shall we thrive without expressing our opinions, being corrected when we are in the wrong, and our thoughts being considered when we are in the right? Understanding is formed not only from learning, but also from acting. If the younger generation were to be more involved with the news, they would have a larger depth of understanding of the world. This would help them immensely in further years, and also support their education. The world as a whole would also benefit from this, and prepare the younger generation for when we succeed the last one.

    1. Why do you think it's important for young people to share their opinions about the news?

      1. Because it improves their individual opinion and supports their education and worldviews. Furthermore, it benefits the society because it gives a larger view of what the world looks like by taking in a younger opinion.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in the news because it affects us and we notice things older people might miss. For example, we pay more attention to social media trends, school or university problems, mental health issues and new ideas about music or fashion. Some people might disagree because they think young people don't have enough experience, but I think that they should have the chance to prove themselves.

    1. How can young people have more of a say when it comes to the news?

      1. Young people can have more of a say in the news by sharing their opinions on social media and taking part in school activities or projects. The media can also listen to young people through interviews and online campaigns.

  • Young people should have strong vois in the news because many important issuess today such as arteftual inteligence (AI) mental health and exam pressure affect them directly these are real problems in students lives yet young people are rarely given the chance o share eir e erinces If their voices we inc ded the news would better reflect the stress and challenges young people face every day When news mainly focuseson politiciansand world leaders young people may feel that their own strugglesare unimportant Alowing them to take part in news reporting can build onfidence and teach responsbility helping them feel valuedin society Young people also live in a digital worled and often recives news through social media This means they understand how to communicate in a way that is engaging relatble and easy to under stand for thier generation. However, reporting the news requires experience and careful judgment. Young people may sometimes react emotionally or follow online trends; therefore, young peopleshouldn'tt replace professional journalists but work alongside them by combining their perspectives with expert guidance. News can become responsibly relevant.

  • I agree that youth deserve more influence over how stories reach the public eye -they are not just soaking up content but actively reshaping culture while living online, where updates travel faster than television ever could. Headlines may grab attention, yet images, algorithm and hidden tech patterns quietly steer thoughts, choices, and even moods. When teens speak up, coverage begins to mirror real concerns instead of repeating old habits. Issues like warming cities, uneven schools, uncertain job paths, fair digital rule, and social inequality are less likely to be brushed aside. Truth shifts when new voices enter the room. News shifts too—becoming less about shock and more about answers, evidence, and real consequences. Representation grows, awareness deepens, and trust builds, because being seen means mattering, not just consuming.

Still, some people see it differently. They argue that fact-checking skills and long experience should keep seasoned reporters at the center of news work. Young voices bring energy, yes, but emotions or viral trends online might influence what they highlight. That influence could tilt stories or flatten complex issues into quick soundbites. There is also concern that giving youth larger roles may invite confusion when reporting on war, law, or economic policy.Yet young voices do not need to replace professionals-they should stand alongside them. This mix strengthens journalism. Where experience meets fresh perspective, stories deepen. Accuracy grows richer, and relevance lasts longer when today’s news reflects those who will live tomorrow.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because in my opinion, someone between the ages of 13 and 16 is extremely capable of explaining basic everyday announcements . In addition, having teenagers as “news reporters” can also help widen the audience to younger age groups, since the slang and the natural way that teens communicate will attract more attention to the daily news.

However , others might disagree with me because they think that a teenagers brain isn’t fully devolved yet , therefore incapable of appearing on the news and understanding most of the political updates. I completely understand why someone would think that but I’m not saying to make kids speak about really serious matters , just interesting everyday facts.

Thanks for reading my comment and I would love to hear your opinions!!

  • I completely agree that youth should have a greater voice in how news is presented. This is because news doesn't merely provide immediate information, it also reshapes societie's way of thinking, mindset and opinions. Today's youth are the leader of tomorrow. However, when, they are voices and perspectives are ignored, news coverage fails to reflect reality in it's fullest form.

Youth are skilled in technology, digital platform and AI. They understand which language, presentation style and medium can which people quickly and effectively. As a result, when news is published by incorporating youth's viewpoints,, it becomes more transparent and credible.

Moreover, the youth represent diverse and dynamic ways of thinking. They act with datum. So that, they can easily find which information is right or wrong. Furthermore, their awareness of crucial sectors such as social injustice, education, environment, unemploydment and so on brings new perspective to news reporting.

To sum up, Today's youth is tomorrow's commander. By allowing youth to express their views more actively in new publication is a demand of the time. Their sense of responsibility toward facts and data can greatly contribute to the development of a healthy and well-sounded media system.

    Thank you💕

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because we are the generation that uses the news the most through social media and the internet. Young people know what topics are important to them and how to explain them in a clear and interesting way. If young voices are included, the news will be more attractive and easier for young audiences to understand, which can make more people interested in following the news.

However, other might disagree with me because they think that young people do not have enough experience in journalism. They may believe that reporting the news needs maturity and accuracy, and that adults are better at handling serious topics. Some people also think young people may focus more on trends than facts.

In my opinion, listening to young people's ideas while keeping professional rules can improve the way news is reported.

    1. How do you think young people can share their ideas in the news while still making sure the information is accurate and trustworthy?

      1. Young people can share their ideas in the news by working with professional journalists. They can suggest topics, ideas and opinions that matter their generation while professionals review facts and information, and also they can learn how to verify information. By applying this young voices could be heard in professional and trustworthy way.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported — not because they know more than anyone else, but because they experience the world differently.

At least from what I see, people my age wake up and the news is already on their phones — sometimes before they’ve even had breakfast. We don’t just watch the news once a day; we scroll past it constantly. Because of that, young people understand how fast information spreads, how easily misinformation goes viral, and how certain stories only get attention if they connect emotionally. That perspective matters if the news wants to stay relevant.

A lot of the biggest issues in the news right now — climate change, education costs, housing, and job security — will affect young people for the rest of their lives. So it feels fair that they have more input in how these stories are told. When young people see themselves reflected in the news, they’re more likely to trust it and actually pay attention, instead of switching off completely.

That said, I understand why some people might disagree. They may feel that news reporting should mainly be led by experienced journalists who understand ethics, accuracy, and historical context. There’s also a concern that giving young people more influence could make the news too focused on trends or opinions rather than facts.

But it doesn’t have to be one or the other. The best journalism comes from balance! Thanks !

    What do you think ?

  • I agree with this statement because News for us young people can seem a bit too "boring " in my opinion. Bringing the youth into News Reports will engage and interests them even more about what's happening in the world's. Newsround and FYI are examples of kids new shows

  • I agree—with a but. Young people should have a voice in deciding what news must be told, such as wars or indiscriminate harm against particular groups, as well as other important matters. However, not all young people are aware enough of how profound the news they receive actually is, or how to detect misinformation within it.
Even though youth receive news, the way they receive it varies. Some dig deeper, while others engage with it partially. So, besides young people having a voice and influence in how news is reported, it is equally important to ensure that their approach is suitable and responsible.
They should have experienced individuals supporting them as well. Even when news comes from young people directly facing war, tyranny, or oppression, having experienced individuals help verify and present it to the world increases its impact and credibility. New perspectives backed by logic, facts, and proper context are the way forward.

  • I agree that young people should have a role in how the news is shared because many important issues directly affect their lives. Education systems, climate change, mental health, technology, and job opportunities shape their future, so their perspectives matter. Today, young people often access news through social media, short videos, and websites rather than traditional newspapers or television. By listening to young voices, media outlets can present news in ways that are easier to understand, more engaging, and more relevant. This helps news feel meaningful instead of distant or confusing. When young people are included, the media does not just talk about them but listens to what truly concerns them, which leads to better representation and stronger trust.
However, some people believe young people should not be involved in reporting the news. They argue that young people may lack experience and long-term understanding, which could result in emotional or biased reporting. Professional journalists are trained to verify facts, stay neutral, and report responsibly. There is also concern that young people may focus more on trends, popularity, or personal opinions rather than accuracy and verified information.Even so, a balanced approach is the most effective. When experienced journalists ensure accuracy and fairness while young people contribute fresh perspectives, the news becomes both trustworthy and inclusive. This combination helps media stay reliable while connecting better with younger audiences.

  • I think young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because they are the future and can bring fresh ideas. They know how to use social media and digital tools, so they can make news more interesting and easier to understand. Young people also care about issues like climate change, mental health, and technology, which sometimes don’t get enough attention. Some people say they lack experience and may be biased, but with training and guidance from older journalists, they can learn fast. Working together makes the news stronger, fairer, and more engaging.

  • In my own opinion, I think both young people and older people should have a say in how the news should be reported. This is because everyone has their own problems and everybody is affected differently by their environment.

  • I agree that young people should have a greater say in the news. My reason been that if young ones are incorporated into the news system, the journalist will get to know their view an issue. They is an adage which says that ,`he that wears the shoe knows were it hurts most' ,we can't keep letting our parents use ideas of the old issue to decide how things should go now .

For instance, if the the news is talking about young ones attending classes online and making use of gadgets to assess the internet, you will agree with me that if the older ones are to given the opportunity to give their opinion they may suggest that the young ones shouldn't be allowed to use a gadget talk more of assessing the internet for on line class. Who knows? Their reasons may be that they were able to get across and be were they are today without given full or any assess to internet.

You may disagree with me for most of us are in countries were civilization took place early. But don't forget that they are some countries civilization did not occur as early as it did in most counties. I am in Nigeria to be precise, and I don't think my grandparents can make use of a mobile phone and for my parents they will say that having a mobile phone at grade 11 will serve as a distraction, but I may need it.

so imagine if this is a topic going on in the news and only adults who may have same perspective as most Nigeria parents have are required or rather involved.

  • I agree, because I think that, in this way, the perspectives of all age groups would be better represented. Normally, traditional media presents the news from a more adult perspective, and it is important that the perspective of young people is also included, since they make up a large part of society. In addition, this lack of representation can make young people lose interest in the news, that is what is happening around them. On the other hand, I understand that some people believe that the adult perspective should be the only one represented, as it can be considered more mature and experienced than that of young people.

  • To be honest, I have mixed feeling about this. On one hand, the news can feel really 'old school' and out of touch with what my generation actually cares about. We're the ones who will be living with the consequences of today's decisions, so we should definitely help decide which stories get told and how. But on the other hand, journalism is a tough job. You need to be able to spot fake news and stay neutral, which takes a lot of experience. I think the best way is for professional journalists to collaborate with young people-that way we get the facts right, but in a way that actually speaks to us.

  • Hi everyone! I think that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because it will affect their future. Young people also have great imagination. They can have a huge impact on how the news gets around ( like seeing it in a different format that's different from t.v. or newspapers). This can also change the way we see news . For example instead of seeing the news as boring or sad we would be more excited to see what's happening around the world ( I do know that not everything happening currently is happy). Others might disagree with me since younger people like children, don't have fully developed minds yet .

  • I agree that statement because the world is moving in a faster pace than it used to be, young peoples opinions matter more than ever. Their opinions dictate how their future will end up, its only fair that we listen to them. Others may disagree because older people by definition have more experience, but the world is evolving rapidly, a spectrum of different opinions by the people who will be affected most are needed.
But history does repeat itself, younger people should make decisions with their elders past mistakes in mind. The older generation is still important because of their role as a guide, an example of what to avoid.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because lots of kids aged from 10-15 years old have their minds pretty well developed so their can think for themselves. Some people might disagree, but research shows that even if they are 10, 11, 12...etc. their are smart enough to express their opinions. Some people might disagree with me because they will say that a teenager's brain is still underdeveloped, but experts say that the psychical development starts around 8-12 and also the behavior changes. They say that nowadays 10 is the new 15 years old. Hence young people should have an opinion the way the news is reported.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because children from the age 10 to 15 have the brain pretty developed, so they can share their opinion with examples if they want. For example a 13 year old like me can debate on something like the news. Kids this age could agree and disagree for hours if they have enough facts, examples and opinions. However, other people might disagree with me because they will say " a 10 year old doesn't have the ability to debate about such things, it is too hard for them". Yes, I understand, but maybe some children are advanced for their age and they could debate about anything. Or maybe they are not even advanced but they can express their opinion. To conclude I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news are reported.

    1. Good comment.

  • I agree with this statement because some kids could have gifted minds at a young age and could have their own choices in some news. For example, lets say a kid was told some news that they need an opinion on, that kid could have experience in having a say in the news that’s being told to them.Going back to kids with gifted minds they can have much experience and understanding of what's going on with the news that’s being told to them.

However, others may disagree with me because they might think that younger kids may not have much experience with having a say in how this news is being addressed, but some kids could have excellent education and could have a better understanding of what's going on.Sure younger kids may be experienced but they can still be educated a bit more and could learn a bit more about the news being told to them.In conclusion, this is why i agree that younger kids should have a bigger say in how news is reported.

  • That's a good point. Personally, I feel that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because they have different points of view than people with more experience in the life. In the news all the perspectives should be represented, the one of young people and the one of older people. Moreover, if young people show their perspectives, they will be more catchy listening the news.
On the other hand, others might disagree with me because they believe that the perspective of young people it's not good because It's not mature.
All in all, in this world there are younger and older people, and everyone should give their point of view and understand the news.

  • I agree with the opinion that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported. The responsibility to change the world lies with the younger generation, and I believe we must distinguish right from wrong while actively working to improve the environment we will live in. Previous generations, when they were young, made sacrifices for their countries and created better conditions for those who came after them. Now, I feel it is our turn to carry on that responsibility.

In the end, this is the society we will live in. And after we pass through it, the next generation will have to live in it as well. For this reason, I believe young people should take responsibility, show interest in what is happening in the world, and work toward making society a happier place for everyone not just for themselves, but for all of us.

Therefore, young people should not focus only on social media or their personal lives. Instead, they should pay attention to what is happening in their own country and around the world, and be able to form and express their own opinions. After all, no one knows whether a single voice we raise could change the world.

  • I totally agree to this because youths are old enough to speak for themselves and for others to listen and not just overlook them. As for me, matters that affect us should not be decided upon only by grown-ups that don't quite understand the present day youth. We the youth should make our voices louder, that's why I quite like the poster for this headline, we should be given a megaphone so we can voice our opinion to the public

    1. How do you think young people can make their voices heard more effectively in decisions that affect them?

      1. To this there are many ways. Young people and their ideas should be more respected and as I said before, overlooked, no one should think that just because we are young our decisions don't matter. And how can we get our voices amplified?, you ask, well off the top of my head, let's say we start a campaign, both worldwide and local, to amplify our voices, this way, we can unite youth from different backgrounds for a cause. And on the government's part, they should start bringing younger minds and ideas on the news and online.

  • I agree with young people should have a bigger say In. How the news is reported because the old people had this information and a good background about it .

In the other hand the children doesn't have this background in the news paper so he or she should now this information.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because important news stories (Climate change, global warming, pollution, etc) impact young people the most. Many people think young people should stand aside and enjoy themselves, but I don’t agree with this as many small children may believe and want to take apart in these matters.

I personally believe if children begin to notice and examine what is happening to our world these skills will be convenient in the future as they begin to grow up.
Countless children rely on “Social Media” such as TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and other numerous platforms. In my perspective most children research their news on social media than watching on Tv. This is amazing and perfect for them to think and be creative to consistently figure out on how to solve these problems worldwide!

However, others might disagree with me as they may think children aren’t old enough or can’t be creative. Children being able to watch the news might frighten them or shock them, but this is good for them to toughen up and be able to face the real world.

I believe that children getting to express what they feel about the news, the world can face these harsh moments together and contribute in trying to put an end to them!

    1. Why might global issues like climate change affect young people more than older generations?

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported a lot of the time the news feels like it is only written for adults and the words can be very difficult to understand if young people were involved the stories might be more interested for us to read it is important because the things happening in news today will affect our future we have different ideas and question then adults do so having our voices included would make the news better for everyone l think it would be good if reporters asked kids what they more often.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported because the news of the day is like a match commentary that is being done by people who are no longer on the ground. The young generation is living the news that is being reported, whether it's about exams, climate change, or social media power, yet their voices are not being heard. This is what makes news irrelevant. Sports is where this is made clear. Cricket did not become less serious when it brought in analytics, graphics and young commentators; it actually became easier to understand. The game was the same, but it was easier to understand. News needs to go through the same transformation, facts first, but presented in a way that appeals to the generation that's living the news. Some might disagree, suggesting that youth lack experience and may be prone to letting emotion trump fact. This is a valid concern. However, just as sports bring youth together with experienced coaches, journalism can bring youthful perspective together with experienced attention to fact. The news not only needs to be true, but it also needs to be felt. And who feels the world today more than youth?

  • I agree that young people should have more of a voice in how the news is presented because they live in a world in a way that is shaped by rapidly changing social, digital, and cultural environments that traditional news media may not fully understand. Giving young people a voice does not mean getting rid of journalists but adding to the way of journalism a voice that is shaped by real world realities. Some topical talkers may argue with me because they believe that the news should be shaped by editorial independence rather than public opinion. They may believe that the purpose of journalism is to inform and not to reflect the views of the public, and that giving young people more of a voice could mean that the news is not just reporting but also activism..

    1. How do you think that we can give young people a voice?

  • I think that younger people can talk about the news just like the older people, because when you are like 10 or 11, you start to have your own opinions and your mind is clear, but some people think that we cannot say anythig about a topic becasue we are young and we don't know about anyhing.
I agree that younger people should talk more about several topics and not get judged by some adults, we have the age to investigate about something to know what we are talking about, also, we get so much information about the news because of the internet, one way or another, the social media apps are telling us one point of view of the news and normally we save that information, but there will be always someone that will say that we can't say anyhing about the news, even if we had investigated, because us, like younger people, are always being compared to older people, because sometimes they are overrated. In Spain, I had known teenagers who were more informed about several news, like politics or even accidents that happened, and they could talk about it and say their point of view without hesitate and with a better argument that some adults. On the other hand, when you are talking to an adult and they are "losing" the discussion, they normally say something like "you are to younger to understand" and start saying that they are only right for being older.
So, I think that we should have more appreciation to the younger peoples arguments because they normally investigate even more than the adults.

  • I disagree because young people should not vote they might pick the one that some people do not like . If i had a choose i would say no because i am to young and i know i would pick the wrong one . If you guys want to agree you can it is your choose and we are all diffrent and from diifrent contries .

  • I strongly disagree with this statement. A 13-year-old teenager would not know what economical issues are surrounding their world, meaning that if you ask a 13-year-old teenager about the causes of global warming they may not be entirely informed about . As 13-year-olds wouldn't concern their minds about world harming issues more than their issues, since simply; their minds usually focus on their childhood rather than ruining it by concerning themselves about democracy, pollution and other issues that need to be informed throughout the news.

However, on the the other hand some teenagers would embellish the news by having a voice in global conflicts , since it would give you a peak into their path of thinking and how they view serious issues like pollution and climate change.

Overall, 13-year-olds would not be as informed about global conflicts as an older news reporter would , meaning their isn't alot of information being given through their words, yet it would still help us peak into their view of perspective about global conflicts, even in the tidiest bit.

  • YES the young people are to watch the news. Young people crab lessons faster then adults but it is not all news or programs the young are to watch in this case parents or elders should have more time for the young

    1. I agree because... yes watching news is another way of learning

  • I think young people are also affected by the news like stories about school, the enviroment and also the future. if young people has a bigger say and is allowed to make opinions, the news could be easier explained in a way that is easy to understand and make it more relevant to their lives.

It could help young people feel more interested and invested and informed about what is happening in the world so they are aware of whats happening and how to approach it if something happens. other people might think that young people in the age of 12-15 are too young to be exposed to news and that it might not be the right time for them to know what's going on in the world, but i think young people should have a say and have access to news because it helps them be more aware.

  • I agree that young people should have a bigger say in how the news is reported. News often focuses on older audiences, so issues that matter to young people—like education, mental health, climate change, and social media—can be overlooked or simplified. If young people are involved, news would better reflect their real experiences and concerns.
Also, many young people get news from online platforms, so their input could help make reporting clearer, more engaging, and easier to trust. This could increase interest in the news and reduce the spread of misinformation among younger audiences.
