Weekly Competition #35
07 June 2019
WINNERS ANNOUNCED:
free_acorn and knowledgeable_elephant
Wow! We would love to see all of these statements and slogans on placards at a protest! We especially liked the ones designed by Graveney and Faringdon. Great effort! We chose a primary school winner this week who emphasised the impact that an individual can have on climate change:
I CHANGE NOT CLIMATE CHANGE
and a secondary school winner who used a clever pun to poke fun at those who are doing the damage:
DON'T BE A FOSSIL FUEL.
Well done!
WEEKLY COMPETITION #35:
It's the start of a new Issue, so we need to warm up!
Lots of young people have been protesting about the increase in the Earth's temperature. They have been calling on governments to take action, quickly.
What would you put on your placard, if you were to join a protest? It'll need to be short, catchy and get your message across.
Write your idea below - winners will be announced on Friday!

Skolstrejk för klimatet. I chose this because Greta Thunberg, a Swedish schoolgirl and young climate activist, protested by sitting outside the Riksdag every day during school hours with the sign Skolstrejk för klimatet.

My one is:
If the change is quicker
We will reduce our anger
This is because the more they do about it the more we support them and there will be less chaos.

What do we want? Zero carbon emission. When do we want it? before our time runs out.

Dear government,
There’s been an increase in the weather and it’s effecting the country I was wondering if you could do something to stop it because it’s been here a while we can’t just keep it like that so here’s a list of ideas I have thought of:
Deliver ice-packs/cold objects through the neighbourhoods doors every morning until it goes
We could have cold buildings like saunas but cold what anyone could pay to go in
We could have portable gazebos for everyone
This is all I can think of.

Pollution is the case
Our lives matter
Lives are being wasted
Living things are dying
Up is the way the gas goes
These lives matter
In our lives,we have lost things, sometimes things bigger than homes
Our lives depend on food, travel, drinking water and other things
if the politicians don’t listen theN we will have to work ourselves.

A poem for this issue could be :
Disagreements could cause our world to shatter,
If the government don't do something about this serious matter,
Without Earth we are nothing ,
Just like eggs, to a ready to be baked muffin,
Don't look at this and disagree with me,
Together we can make harmony,
With more CO2 our world is in danger,
Just like you talking to a stranger,
The government should take action,
So our world doesn't turn smaller than a fraction!
Great use of simile!
